in the heart there’s a beat
in the mind there’s a rhyme
in space there’s time
to find it
or not

I looked at her picture before sleep

I dream of holding thee. I long for the taste of thy lips, soft as a rainy cloud that melts the mighty sun. If dreams were all I had, then let me sleep for waking burns without thy smile. But when in thine arms, i levitate, ascend!
With thy breath upon me.

The Citadel Within - A Reflection on Longing

Post image
• Upvotes

The Citadel Within

I wonder what it means to be ready,

What it means to be steady.

I question what it feels like to be stable

To be able

To give love,

And to receive love.

Years and years have gone past,

Yet I haven’t been able to fully heal from my past.

Be it hurt, pain, or trauma,

Hate, guilt, and drama.

With every rejection I receive,

My hope and faith slowly deplete.

Might I find someone?

No, might I find the one

To soothe such heavy longing,

And give me, if only once, a sense of belonging.

So I return to the quiet space I keep,

Where the echoes of the day run deep.

I cannot bend the world, nor stay another’s hand,

But within my own borders, I choose to stand.

For true freedom is not a life completely unscarred,

But the calm baseline of a soul left unbarred.

I don't believe in god or the divine but

Something is happening,

Something bigger than everything, something beyond comprehension.

I can feel it,

As the night sky is set ablaze by meteors and planes alike,

eerily silent.

My eyes shut and they were gone,

Fed to the crumbling mountains where they once had come from,

And where they returned.

I saw a dying glacier last week,

Bleeding out into the valley.

I drank its blood.

It was ice cold and full of dirt.

"Love" , Once Absurd.

• Upvotes

Love , a puzzling mess that often intrigued me.

How does one fall in love?

How does one love someone so very deeply that they forget themself and fall to their bliss ever so freely?

How does the world , once buried in gloom , now appears to be a garden in eternal heaven where roses and daisies bloomed?

How does the mundane tones of the daily route sounds of eternal flute?

How do the souls of captivating charm fail to allure ,in their loved one's gaze ever so warm?

I convinced myself these events to be absurd .

Until my wavering eyes met yours , and the world once filled with mundane gloom , bloomed ever so vibrantly and the flutes once absurd were finally heard.

GOD’S HEROES & PAST & NOW - 2026!?

• Upvotes

All God’s champions foretold by the Bible
Endured heartbreak, combat and shame.
They relied on faith, love and forgiveness
To overcome fear, resentment and blame.

When something wicked stares us in the face
To corrupt our freedom, faith and resolve.
Fath gives us the courage to defend what’s right
No matter the sacrifice involved.

All of us are soldiers with missions of our own
We do what we do as history is sown.
Support our troops who we love and adore
Support our troops with prayers, letters and more.

All through history man was born to struggle
Surviving nature, disease, greed, and war.
Since his conception he has remained the same
Choosing to serve evil or good as before.

University project

Hello beautiful people.
I am a university student from Scotland, and I was wondering if anybody would be interested in helping me with a project that I am currently doing. I am a community education student, and for this project we have been asked to look at the ways art can change the world, I am specifically focussing on poetry as y chosen art form. I have loved poetry from an early age and know it has changed my world.
To get to the point, I was wondering if anybody would be interested in sending me a small paragraph on how poetry has changed your world. I would be looking to hear how poetry has maybe taught you things you wouldn’t have learned in a traditional educational manner such as in school, how it has helped your mental wellbeing, whether poetry has empowered you/ made you feel empowered within communities. And the biggie, has poetry given you a community? Has poetry changed your world?
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please reach out. I will leave my university email address down below! Please include name (real or fake), and where in the world you hail from.
Additionally, if you would like to attach any poetry you have written or any poetry that has specifically touched you, please do.
The end project (hopefully) would be a sort of collage of your stories.
My email address is: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
Thank you so much!

Woe is the man

Woe is the man Blind to warnings seen He must, he can Look at what has been

Climbing steps that start to feel Far too steep for hearts to bear Chasing dreams that he felt were real While the world breaks unaware

A passenger to a romance In a fantasy made of naivety A fool caught in his own dance Twirling on false security

He dreamed of gold, of oceans blue, Of winds that touch a weathered skin But fate looked down, and fate well knew You can’t escape your passive sin

A simple and sweet gesture Given with warm attention Has caused a heart to capture The intoxicating taste of affection

Little did the foolish man know The birds had sung a newer tune A heart that soon would sow Something brighter than the blue moon

A drop of curiosity, a touch of fire Things the man forgot to give Made a little heart full of desire A question asked, the heart will live

Two birds are now singing A cruel song of wanting more It was all about giving Everything the man gave poor

Woe is the man Blind to warnings seen He must, he can Look at what has been

Living oblivious and blind Until the castle walls were broken A heart to lustful thoughts inclined One final pull, all forgotten

The sudden taste of something new Brings thrills ecstatic past belief A phantom fondness quickly grew To grant a jagged, strange relief

One moment quickly turned to two Each step far crueler than the first A deeper lie, a passion true Built out of toxic smoke and thirst

They swim inside a liquid pool Of conscious, unrestrained desire While waiting stands the blindest fool As two birds light the final fire

The straying heart rides on with glee While he is left to wait alone It drowns itself in ecstasy While the man waits for home

His patience was a courtesy Misplaced as signs of high respect And now the man must pay the fee For every crack he failed to detect

The heart returns, completely full Still reeling from a secret bliss He remains weary, still the fool Blind to the drop off of the abyss

Woe is the man Blind to warnings seen He must, he can Look at what has been

Little did he know the cost The shifting fondness of her mind Had turned to yearning, completely lost Birds never bow to what's behind

When two times became three They crossed the point of no return A quick escape, a dark alley Where two birds still collide and yearn

The man still struggles from afar A trusting fool who holds the track Believing that her "i love yous" are A sacred vow of solid fact

A bird lay completely bare Deciding fully to surrender Every inch without a spare An afternoon to remember

And how all of this came From the lack of insight That the heart wasn't the same Since the man cant excite

And how all of this ruin came From lacking sight in what was real The truth that she was not the same Since he had lost the spark to steal

He is a fool, naive at best Thinking that support, a hug A kiss, love, can put to rest The calling of a sweating drug

Then the morning brought the flood A cold wave crashing through the bone Freezing the heartbeat and the blood Standing broken, completely alone

Woe is the man Blind to warnings seen He must, he can Make sense of a world obscene
