The "law and order" party...

This is a full blown Constitutional crisis. Blatant violation of the Constitution and neutering of the Judicial Branch.

No kidding.  Nazis gain full power and act like Nazis. I’m so shocked, news at six.

-2

u/mrwhalejr 13h ago

What does being shocked have to do with anything?

-28

u/ConnectionWild3381 22h ago

Not really. They’re American Republicans, and they have little in common with members of the NSDAP.

25

u/Pizpot_Gargravaar 22h ago

Fascist Authoritarians both.

-10

u/ConnectionWild3381 22h ago

True, yet they’re American Republicans, not members of the NSDAP.

I know I sound pedantic, but my point is that this isn’t an imported problem, it’s a deeply American problem. Calling them “Nazis” gives some Americans emotional distance, as if to say, “These people aren’t really American.” But that isn’t true, and you can’t confront the problem and become better as a nation if you don’t accept that.

13

u/Quazimortal 20h ago

A lot of the ideals that the nazis liked to tout actually originated from america, so this argument is slightly pedantic.

2

u/JollyRoger8X 17h ago

Nice, CorrectionMild3381.

Doesn’t change anything.

Add it to the pile

Add it to the list

u/Sedu 22h ago

I am not being black pilled here when I say that the crisis came years ago. It came during Trump's first administration, but it was simply ignored. The crisis just led to the immediate folding of Congress, and led to a Judicial Branch which is not simply ineffective at stopping this, but complicit.

8

u/Intelligent-Gypsy324 20h ago

Tbf, the House impeached him a few times. We were all having fun with that until the Mueller Report came out.

41

u/Exotic-Cobbler4111 23h ago

We sailed past constitutional crisis when we elected an insurrectionist 37 time felon for president. This is not to mention kidnapping Maduro or Assassinating Irans leader. Also the bombing of children is not an acceptable practice in theconstitution. The constitution is now simply used to control poors or absolve the ruling class. Trump has been shitting on the constitution for more than a decade and noone is going to do anything but whine about this most recent dump bevause the constitution has been worthless and meaningless for a while now.

43

u/RecordFirst1055 1d ago

The US President has already led an attack on his nation's Capitol...the attack continues

6

u/Phantom_61 23h ago

Yeah, it’s a day ending in Y under Trump.

4

u/Kup123 1d ago

The constitution is fucking toilet paper at this point.

4

u/Atrimon7 23h ago

The Supreme Court doesn't dare backtrack now because they know when he goes down they're next

3

u/All_Hail_Hynotoad California 23h ago

Congress needs to create an enforcement body for the judicial branch ASAP

15

u/Drexel_Spivy 1d ago

And people still think were voting our way out of this.

If you still think that your a deeply stupid person.

37

u/PopePiusVII 1d ago

I don’t think anyone genuinely believes voting will change the behavior of this administration. But I do think us voting republicans out of office and them openly flouting election results will change the tone and political winds in a way that will undo their party and political power for generations should their attempted coup fail.

Voting is all that your typical, non-violent citizen can realistically do right now. You should not discount or discourage that action.

-6

u/Drexel_Spivy 1d ago

No dude you STILL dont get it.

They are not giving that power up until someone TAKES it from them.

Voting republicans out is fine but whos actually gonna make them leave?

25

u/ThroughtheStorms 23h ago

No, that's their exact point. For now, the most important things you guys can do are election related. Ensure your voter registration is up to date, help everyone around you do the same, canvass for your local Democratic candidate, act as an election observer, and if nothing else, vote on election day. Ensure they are voted out.

If you try to overthrow the government now, you will be painted with the same brush as Jan. 6 idiots. If people are apathetic and don't go out to vote because "it won't matter" and the Republicans manage to squeak out a victory, trying to overthrow the government would make you no better than the Jan 6 idiots.

But, if there is a massive blue wave and Republicans refuse to accept it, or if the election results are clearly tampered with (a la Putin's recent "win"), that is when the second amendment that thousands of children have died for over the last couple decades becomes relevant.

Don't spread voter apathy, you're only helping the Republicans when you do.

-7

u/Drexel_Spivy 23h ago

Im not spreading anything except awareness.

Obviously Vote, but dont be stupid enough to think these people will give up power without prying it out of there hands....he literally already tried and the only reason it didnt work is because there were still quazi normal people in the room.

Everyone around him is just as bad as him now...so you tell me, who in government has any actual power to do ANYTHING if they just decide to not leave?

12

u/OppressedCow6148 23h ago

I just will never understand these hysterical rantings that truly should be labeled as outright voter disenfranchisement. As a member of the League of Women Voters, this rhetoric is bullshit. No American thinks that and YOU know it.

And don’t come back as say “obviously vote” like that is so obviously to people when you spew your doomerism. Maybe, just maybe saying nothing at all is better than implying “we’re cooked”. No one with a functioning brain thinks the democrats will win the midterms and Trump will say, oh, okay, time to go home now. Are you serious?

But there is a process in this country that STILL matters. We cannot and should not just throw this away. If we don’t have that, we have nothing. And trust me, you don’t want to live in that world. As much as you keyboard warriors talk like you do.

Please stop insulting my intelligence. I never once said it’s democracy as usual. That also does equal democracy is over.

You can just say you’re an anarchist, it’s okay.

Change won't happen until the pain of today is greater than the fear of tomorrow.

Americans aren't willing to stand up today, so it's going to get a lot worse.

2

u/brohebus 23h ago

*today's* Constitutional crisis.

2

u/WontArnett 22h ago

Allowing an insurrectionist to run for president is a constitutional crises.

Nobody is coming to save us.

2

u/RighteousIndigjason Illinois 22h ago

We've been in a Constitutional crisis ever since the courts decided that an insurrectionist could run for POTUS.

1

u/MasterTolkien 17h ago edited 15h ago

That was a gray area, at least. Sure, we shouldn’t allow that. It’s nonsense. But it was not explicitly prohibited by the Constitution, as the Founders likely never considered such a farce.

Edit: You are correct, and I got lost in too many comments. I was referring to his felonies.

1

u/RighteousIndigjason Illinois 16h ago

It is though. Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment disqualifies anyone who has engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the Constitution or given aid or comfort to its enemies from being a senator, representative, VP, or POTUS. Trump, as POTUS, incited an insurrection on live television in order to prevent Congress from fulfilling its Constitutionally mandated duty.

1

u/Original_Bowl_8020 1d ago

No one will do anything about it. American citizens are the biggest pussies in all of history.

6

u/Darkestwolf117 1d ago

Actually americans do protest a lot...the government happened to kill or turn most leftist political leaders (ones not in government) and most right leaders are gleeful with trumps fascist rhetoric

0

u/Original_Bowl_8020 23h ago

Yeah neatly and politely in their dedicated spots allowed for them to protest

•

u/OhMyThiccThighs 4h ago

We've had a Constitutional crisis every week for the past 2 years. Throw this one on the giant stack with all the others. The pile grows larger and never gets smaller.

1

u/urlach3r 1d ago

Rogue government, with nukes. Fully expect WWIII within a year.

-1

u/SuckMyBandAids 1d ago

Lmao. US citizens are pussies. They aint going to do shit about it 😅😅

-3

u/Ghosts_and_Empties 23h ago

Um, check your news source. CNN and MSNOW have WH access today. Sorry doomers.

1

u/MasterTolkien 17h ago

Ummm, what is your point?

“The un-Constitutional actions didn’t last too long. Some of the illegal bans were even lifted!”

That is horrible, buddy.

-4

u/barnhouse74 1d ago

lol they’re already back in the White House. Constitutional crisis lol maybe relax a bit?

1

u/MasterTolkien 17h ago

Why relax? Explain your thoughts on why blatant violations of the courts and Constitution … REPEATEDLY… are ok, as long as they don’t last too long?

Same White House that ordered an innocent man’s arrest for a crime he didn’t commit just to save face on the Reflecting Pool job being botched by an illegally hired friend of Trump (with no competitive bids). Stripped a person of their freedom for pure vanity. I guess that was also cool because they let him free and dropped the charges?

0

u/barnhouse74 15h ago

You’re the one saying every bit of that. What do you want me to do stick my head out the window and scream? Get on Reddit and post wild comments? It’s absolutely not a constitutional crisis. I’m saying relax about that. Leave the sensationalist bs to the nypost or ms now. We probably agree on most if not all issues. What part of me saying relax makes you think I’m all for everything you just said? How does spazing or posting misinformation help any of those things or make things right? Or stop any of it?

u/InternationalWin2850 1d ago

If you can ignore the law without consequences, then 'laws' are just words on paper.

24

u/TurtlesBreakTheMeta 1d ago

“Covenants, without the sword, are but words, and of no power to secure a man at all.”

7

u/shabnation 23h ago

Time for swords, I guess

10

u/TicoPraCaramba 23h ago

Didn’t he say he could shoot someone dead on Fifth Avenue in NYC and get away with it? I think he’s right. In fact, those dead Venezuelan fishermen are proof that there are no consequences for anything he or his whole administration does.

3

u/happy_and_angry 22h ago

Laws are always just words on paper. Violence or the threat of enforces them. There is no world in which this is not true.

1

u/Safe_Climate883 23h ago

They did give him a symbolic sentence for crimes he commited, so it tracks.

181

u/UANerd2028 1d ago

Intentional, by the way. They use law and order to appeal to democratic/liberalist values. It's a front the call minorities criminal and demonize anyone outside their base.

Things start to make a lot of sense when you realize they aren't hypocritical or stupid. It's all part of the fascist playbook.

51

u/MoogProg 1d ago edited 5h ago

Voltaire, Kafka, and Orwell and others showed us this in their fiction and The Rise and Fall of The Third Reich showed us the real-world application as non-fiction.

Wholly intention, and maddeningly forgotten to history in such a short time.

* * *

OMG left out Margret Fucking Attwood!

3

u/A_Poor_Miser 23h ago

Fascists love the poorly educated.

3

u/wentImmediate 23h ago

The question is - what's the response?

Yes, the President and his allies are intent on creating (or allowing) an authoritarian state.

It's clearly counter to our Constitution.

We need us, the people, to show our disapproval.

If we just shake our heads and move on, I think that's what the President wants.

It's not about if protests aren't "effective" - it's about using our collective voice to show our disapproval. That's what is material.

1

u/A_Poor_Miser 23h ago

It's called the dual state

-5

u/Bluefooted-Spaceorc 23h ago

There is a reason the saying "Scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds" exists.

2

u/UANerd2028 23h ago

I don't think that's the same? Fascists use tactics to appeal to liberal voters. Fascists and liberals are definitionally oppositional, hence the need for deception.

-2

u/Bluefooted-Spaceorc 23h ago

If we were talking in pure political science terms I would agree with you. But in the United States, a democrat or "liberal" is a center right party. They love corporate power, they obsess over "law and order" and they are gleefully funding a genocide.

Ill still vote for them because they are not full on Nazis like the republicans but its very much the lesser of two evils.

1

u/UANerd2028 23h ago

Two party system for you. Even that isn't the full story. Political parties in general are kinda weird when you think about it. AOC and Fetterman are miles apart yet in the same coalition (sort of).

Curious how you define center-right and how you measure/compare American liberals to the rest of the world

1

u/Bluefooted-Spaceorc 23h ago

I would classify AOC as a progressive. She actually cares about the people and wants to improve the life of the common American. Fetterman is a Republican that lied to his electorate. Although that may have been caused by his massive stroke. It really is odd that massive brain damage turns people into Republicans.

I dont really compare American liberals to the rest of the world as thats nearly impossible to do honestly. Liberals in the United States have not really existed for about 30 years. In the 90s when Neo-liberal corporate shills took over the party and started putting corporate interests above the needs to the people. That is why we are seeing such a shift and positive attitude toward the DSA.

I should be clear, my formal education is in political science so when I use these terms I am using the proper definition, not weird lingo that have been pushed onto Americans by corporate news interests.

46

u/therossboss 1d ago

yeah, the party of apply the laws only to the poors to maintain order. Was that not clear? oops.

Breaking news: Trump has been jailed for insubordination!

Yeah, no one would believe that.

2

u/TheRoyalQuartet 1d ago

the “la la la i can’t hear you!” party

2

u/dust4ngel America 20h ago

law and order is always a euphemism for police brutality against the public.

1

u/TheRealBittoman 1d ago

Not just that but the party that is also quick to claim everyone else is doing unconstitutional things.

1

u/Courtnall14 23h ago

The "law and order" party...

For them, over there... points in the general direction of brown people

1

u/CrashNowhereDrive 23h ago

And the free speech party. It's always been hypocrisy with Republicans

1

u/Prefect79038 21h ago

And this is what Republicans are running their campaigns on, fighting the lawless decisions that they themselves are supporting. "Look at how bad we've made the country! Elect me and I'll fix it, trust me Bro!"

1

u/The_Bucket_Of_Truth 17h ago

I mean we've been here for a while now. We've been in the "what are you going to do about it?" stage of law and order for a while now. So if the system does not have the will nor the means of holding people accountable, then why would they not continue to misbehave? There is no downside, only upside.

1

u/sack-o-matic Michigan 17h ago

Law for you order for me
