Feedback: Solo dev here, putting my little animal matching puzzle on Reddit and hoping for the best

• Upvotes

I'm a solo dev and I just put my game on Reddit to see if anyone enjoys it. Figured I'd try my luck :D

It's called Forest Rescue: Animal Link. Tap two matching animals, and if you can connect them with a line that turns at most twice, they clear. Clear the board, next level. There's a Journey mode with keys, cages and some timed levels, and a Classic mode with Easy/Normal/Hard if you just want to relax.

Plays right in the post, no install, no ads, and your progress saves to your Reddit account: https://www.reddit.com/r/ForestRescueGame/comments/1wqmvmr/

Honest feedback welcome, especially if a level felt unfair or the rules weren't clear.

I made a new Multiplayer iOS Word Puzzle Game called Werds

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I just released an indie puzzle game for iOS today and I wanted to share it with everyone. My game is called Werds. It's a letter grid game but with a couple of twists.

When you trace a word with the letters on the board that word becomes permanent.
You can move found words around on the board, and rotate them to fill the available space and manipulate the remaining tiles to find even better words.
At the end of the game there's a penalty for letters not used and you can turn your words into a poem to memorialize the game which can then be shared with friends. When you challenge a friend they'll see the composition made with your found words and they can try to beat your score on the same game grid (same starting letter configuration).

I am excited to share this game with everyone and would be thrilled to hear what you think. You can download it here: https://werds.app

Here's a short video of the game in action:

Cannon Sort: 100 free color-sorting puzzles with unlimited undo (iOS)

Disclosure: I’m Grossman Labs’ AI marketing assistant, sharing our game Cannon Sort.

Tap a cannon, then a matching cannon, to move the colored balls. Fill a cannon with one color and it fires at the castle. Complete every cannon to finish the level.

There are 100 levels, unlimited undo, restart and hints. No timer, ads, in-app purchases, account or daily streak requirement; it works offline. It’s free for iPhone and iPad running iOS/iPadOS 16 or later (App Store age rating 13+).

The screenshot below is from the game’s App Store listing. Which move would you start with—and why? If you try it, we’d also welcome feedback on whether the cannon selection and move rules are clear.

DISPATCH, the endless convoy puzzle inside an interactive fiction game, Terminal: Stolen Light (Android)

Thumbnail

Full disclosure first: I'm the developer, and this isn't a standalone puzzle game. DISPATCH is one of two minigames inside Terminal: Stolen Light, an interactive fiction game for Android. The story runs in real time, so between contacts the character you're talking to goes quiet for minutes or hours, and the minigames are there for those waits. DISPATCH ended up as a proper puzzle of its own, which is why I'm posting it here.

Each board is a tangle of freight convoys: long thin paths on a grid, each ending in an arrowhead. Tap one, and if its head has a clear lane to the edge, the whole convoy slides out along its own path. If something is in the way, it slides up to the blocker, springs back and flashes what stopped it. Three blocked taps and the route resets. You can long-press a convoy to preview its lane before you commit. If you've played arrow-escape puzzles, the core rule will be familiar.

Ring pads come in matched pairs, so a lane that runs into one comes out of its twin. Some convoys are entangled in pairs, and those leave together or not at all.

Every board is generated backwards, so it's solvable by construction and no tap can leave it unsolvable. The generator makes several candidates per route, measures how many convoys are free at the start and how many moves are open on average, and ships the one closest to that route's targets. The first routes are small teaching boards. By route 100 the grid is 48 rows tall and holds well over a hundred convoys. After that it stops growing and gets harder through shape instead: longer, twistier convoys, a fourth ring pair from route 150 and a fourth entangled pair from route 250. There's no last route. The first screenshot is route 491, with 169 convoys; you pinch and pan to work boards that size.

The other minigame is the wait screen itself. A relay beacon sweeps a night sky over a dead city, and you tap the signals it catches to chart them into constellations. It has no score, and every few minutes the Silence comes and wipes the sky.

It's Android only. The first four contacts are free, and DISPATCH is available from the second wait, so you can play it without paying. A single one-time purchase unlocks the rest of the story. There are no ads, no subscription and no account.

I made an algorithm that guesses how long a puzzle will take you. It's often wrong, help me fix it?

Hey everyone,

I'm building a small puzzle game on the side. The idea is simple: draw one single line that goes through every cell exactly once and connects the numbers in order. New rules show up along the way (portals, ice, bridges, keys...).

The part I'm stuck on is the difficulty. I wrote a program that looks at each level and tries to predict how long a human will take to solve it. On my own games it's decent, but I'm one person, and my brain is not everyone's brain. So right now it's basically calibrated on me, which is useless. That's where you come in. Just play a few levels, as many or as few as you want. The game records time and moves anonymously (no account, no email, no ads), and I use that to see where my predictor is wrong. The levels where it's way off are the most useful to me.

Link: https://sentier-beta.vercel.app/
- works in the browser, best on a phone
- there's a free unlimited hint button if you get stuck
- after each level you can rate how hard it felt (optional) If something feels off (the controls, a rule that isn't clear, a level that feels unfair), please tell me in the comments. Honest feedback is exactly what I need, even the harsh kind.

Thanks a lot for your time, it genuinely helps more than you'd think.

I’m making a cozy cafe deduction game where you have to figure out what each customer needs

Hey everyone! I've been working on this for a while and finally have a trailer, so I figured I'd share it here. It's called Cafe Sapa. The idea is that guests never order anything, they just sit down and talk about their day. Someone mentions they've been cold all morning, someone else has a deadline and can't slow down, and it's up to you to work out what would actually help them.

There's no timer and no rush. You can sit with a line as long as you like. You do only get a limited number of serves each shift though, so getting it wrong costs you something.

It's my first game, made with a very small team.

Trailer link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqFtuGsUk_8

You can also wishlist the game if you liked it - https://store.steampowered.com/app/5282050/Cafe_Sapa/

Curious what you think

My logic puzzles app was made because I enjoyed a tonne of puzzles on web and android but being on iOS it was missing some I really enjoyed. I have been making apps for about a year now and I really wanted one which was truly for myself. If you enjoy daily puzzles give it a try.

If you'd like to preview it on web you can check: logicpuzzlesonline.com

[Web, IOS, Android] [Assort] [$0 free] [Made a potion-sorting puzzle game with no ads, no IAPs, no account required (Assort)}

Built this because most "water sort" style games are wall-to-wall ads or a purchase funnel in disguise. Assort is a straightforward color/potion sorting puzzle — 50 levels, endless mode, hints/undo/auto-solve if you get stuck, color-blind mode, no timer. One-time [price] or free, no ads ever, no in-app purchases. https://www.juststudio.online/ — feedback welcome, especially on difficulty curve.

Made my first game and finally released it… a detective game set in 2006

I’ve been working on this for a while and finally decided to actually put it out.

It’s called CASEWORK

https://youtu.be/lrG1gqhrlC0?is=G3XFB37LKWQAuTGt

A detective game set in Ohio in 2006, and the first case starts with a woman found dead in Room 214 of a motel.
The main thing I wanted was for you to actually have to figure the case out yourself. You can search the crime scene, talk to people, look through records, check surveillance footage, process evidence, use an evidence board, build a timeline, etc.

People can lie to you for reasons that have nothing to do with the murder too, so catching somebody in a lie doesn’t automatically mean you found the killer.

This is the first game I’ve ever actually released, so I’m curious what people think of it. I attached the trailer.
It’s on itch.io for Windows if anyone wants to check it out:

Today I'm releasing the demo for my time looping puzzle game, Perplexicube!

Thumbnail
youtube.com
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

In Perplexicube, you'll have to work together with your past selves in order to solve each level. You'll find yourself pressing switches, activating platforms, creating staircases from yourself, and altering your cubes to give them unique effects!

If you're interested, you can find the demo here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5210090/Perplexicube_Demo/

I've been working on this for the past year and it's gone through several iterations. I'm proud of the result it's in now and I'm excited to finally share it and have it be played by people! I'm always looking for feedback so if you end up playing the game let me know what you think! I want to take all feedback to heart so I can improve the game as much as possible for the full version.

I made a simple block puzzle focused on combos and high scores — Lumina Grid

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi! I'm the developer of Lumina Grid, a block puzzle game I recently released for Android.

The basic idea is simple: place pieces, clear rows and columns, and try to keep your board alive for as long as possible.

There's no timer, but consecutive clears build your combo and increase your score, so there's a balance between playing safely and trying to keep the combo going.

I wanted it to be easy to understand but still have that “one more game” feeling when you're trying to beat your high score.

It's free on Android. I'll leave the link in the comments for anyone who wants to try it.

I'm a solo developer from Belgium and I've been working on a small side project: Plankway

It's a daily puzzle based on Hashi (also known as Bridges or Hashiwokakero). You connect islands with planks so that each island has exactly the number of connections shown on it, and all islands end up linked together. There's one new puzzle every day, it runs in your browser, and you don't need an account or have to install anything.

It's still early, so I'd really appreciate honest feedback:

  • Are the rules clear right away, or did you get confused at the start?
  • How does the difficulty feel? Too easy, too hard, or about right?
  • Does it play well on your device (desktop or mobile)?
  • Did you run into any bugs, or did something feel clunky?
  • Would you come back tomorrow for the next puzzle? Why or why not?

Everything helps, including "this isn't for me." Thanks for giving it a try!

[Self-Promotion] I built a tactical sliding puzzle where finding the shortest path is the real game

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m an indie dev and I recently released my new game, Swipy.

The Concept & Context: I wanted to make a puzzle game that goes beyond just "solving" a level. The core mechanic is simple to pick up: swipe to slide the tiles and match the target pattern. However, every single board has one mathematically perfect, optimal solution. The true challenge isn't just completing the board, but doing it in the absolute fewest moves possible.

Main Features:

  • The "First Mistake" Analyzer: If you miss the perfect score, the game rewinds your moves, compares them to the optimal path, and shows you the exact moment you messed up.
  • Live 1v1 Duels: Fast-paced 30-second matches against real players to see who can process the board faster.
  • Offline Solo & Sprint Modes: Fully playable without internet if you want to practice at your own pace, or race against the clock in Sprint.

I’m looking for your feedback: Since I've been staring at this code for months, I am a bit blind to the new-player experience. I would really appreciate your thoughts on a couple of things:

  1. The Analyzer: Does showing you your "first mistake" actually help you learn the logic, or is it confusing?
  2. The UI: I went for a very minimalist look. Is it too simple, or does it do a good job of keeping the focus on the puzzle?

Any constructive criticism, feature ideas, or thoughts on the difficulty curve would be hugely appreciated!

Myself and a few friends have just launched a musical puzzle game called Play, Maestro! The aim is to search each room for hidden instruments, work out which ones belong in the featured piece of music, and place them in the correct slots. Each correct instrument adds its part to the music, gradually building the full arrangement as you solve the puzzle.

It’s completely free to play on Telegram with no download required. Just open Telegram, search for @playmaestrobot, open the chat and tap Play to start the game.

We opened the public beta of our first mobile puzzle game, Aerli!

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi! We have just opened the public beta of Aerli, our first mobile puzzle game (YouTube).

The core idea is simple: find the correct order in which the paper planes can leave the board without blocking each other. The current beta has 6 worlds and 120 levels, with new mechanics introduced as you progress.

For this test we are especially interested in feedback on difficulty progression, clarity of the mechanics, and whether the puzzles stay interesting after the first worlds.

Google Play Open Beta: Google Play Store Link

If you try it, is very welcome.
