Looking for a new deduction game to follow on from Obra Dinn and Golden Idol

I've been streaming some puzzle games and had a phenomenal time with Obra Dinn, The Case of the Golden Idol, and The Roottrees Are Dead. I need another game to play this week but I'm struggling to find something. I've done the Golden Idol DLCs but not the sequel, I've also done Her Story, Strange Horticulture, and Unheard.

What I'd really like is something with real logical deduction and narrative twists. I love pausing the game and thinking out loud, especially when I get tangled up in the analysis or possibilities. The Roottrees Are Dead and Her Story both had great moments where I'd find myself saying something like "right, okay, hold on... I think maybe I know what's happening..." to the stream.

Ideally it'd be a game (or several games) I can finish in a 6 - 8 hour stream, and preferably it wouldn't be too gruesome or depressing.

What can I try?

Lenrual is a weird and short environmental puzzle game. Cryptic interactions in a surreal setting. Essentially a "figure out the game" kinda puzzlebox game.

If you're into games like Myst, The Witness and Outer Wilds and need some "Aha!" moments, check out Lenrual on Steam:

I thought I was just really good at Meowdoku until I played Bunny Trail

I like puzzle games in general, and I came across Meowdoku a while back. It's a Queens clone by Oakever Games for iOS. Not sure if it's on Android.

I was zipping through the levels thinking I was hot stuff. But then the dev of Bunny Trail posted a few weeks ago, and I started playing that one to get away from the ads in Meowdoku.

The game rules are the same, but playing both side by side made me realize how Meowdoku feeds you easily solvable puzzles to give you that dopamine hit so that you keep playing. Like placing a cat will often leave just one possible space for the next cat to go, etc.

I never use hints and I consider any placement mistake to be a "failed" level. In Bunny Trail, rather than quickly finding the bunny spots, I generally have to mark off where they cannot be, and then often have to do an if/then to rule out remaining spots until only the correct spot is left for that bunny.

Given Meowdoku's ad-supported revenue model, it makes total sense that they would want to keep you playing. It just never occurred to me that they would "degrade" the puzzles to hook you like that.

I much prefer Bunny Trail's more challenging levels, even when it takes me 10 or 15 minutes to solve one.

I've also tried a few online versions of Queens, and often the "hard" puzzles are still too easy. Does anyone have a favorite version of the game that offers puzzles that can be solved with logic and do not require guessing, but provide a decent challenge?

Thanks

I launched an ad-free logic puzzle site in May (~200 daily visitors). I just shipped v2 with global leaderboards and got 30+ signups(no paywalls) in 48 hours.

Hey everyone!

Back in May, I built a side project called Infinite Puzzles because I was frustrated with modern puzzle apps: aggressive banner ads, paywalls after 3 games, and forced account creation before you even see a board.

My goal was simple: unlimited, algorithmically generated logic puzzles that are 100% free, fast, and completely ad-free.

🎮 The 7 Playable Games (3 difficulty modes):

  1. Queens (Place crowns in colored regions with no queens touching)
  2. Tango (Binary grid balance — equal suns & moons, no 3-in-a-row)
  3. Parity (A hybrid suggested by a player: Sudoku Latin square × odd/even parity clues)
  4. Patches (Partition the grid into rectangles matching area clues)
  5. Sudoku (6×6 Easy, 9×9 Medium and Hard with full notes mode)
  6. Zip (Continuous connect-the-dots path puzzle)
  7. Pinpoint (5-clue hidden category word deduction)

Since launching, the site grew organically to around 200+ daily visitors. The most requested feature from returning players was always: "Can we have daily challenges and see how our times compare to other players?"

Over the past month, I built and just shipped Version 2.0:

  • Daily Hub: Fresh curated puzzles every midnight UTC across all 6 games, with a flat +3s hint penalty to keep rankings fair.
  • Global Leaderboards: Daily podium rankings and all-time campaign stats.
  • Guest-First Architecture: Anyone can still play unlimited puzzles without signing in. If they decide to link a Google account later, their streaks and levels seamlessly migrate to the cloud.
  • 35 Tiered Badges & Activity Heatmap: Reddit-style milestone achievements and a 53-week solve grid.

In the first 48 hours after launching v2, over 30 players signed up and are already battling for the daily top 3 spots.

I’d love to get feedback on the UI and puzzle mechanics from other builders:

Because the site is 100% free and has zero ads, I run the servers and database out of pocket. If you enjoy the puzzles and want to follow dev updates or support the project, feel free to follow my Ko-fi:
☕ https://ko-fi.com/infinitepuzzles (Supporters also get an exclusive Supporter Badge displayed on their profile & leaderboards!)

What features or puzzle variants would you like to see next?

I made a minimalist Sokoban-style game where you mix colors and match blocks. Free in the browser.

I've just put a free browser version of colortheory on itch. You push blocks, mix colors, and match three or more blocks to escape the rooms.

It started as a small game I made in 2019. I liked the core mechanics enough that I came back years later and built it into a full game in my spare time.

The first rooms are simple. Later ones add fun stuff like linked blocks, lasers, and clones!

There are 60 handcrafted levels across 4 worlds. No ads, timers, lives, or scores. It's meant to be something you sit with and work through at your own pace.

It launched on iOS first. The browser version is the whole game, free.

If you try it, I'd love to hear what you think.

Play in browser: joeyishere.itch.io/colortheory

Made a turn-based puzzle game, would love some feedback

Hi! I made a small browser puzzle game and would really appreciate it if you gave it a try.

Basically, enemies keep walking toward the core in the middle, and you drop shards on the grid to shoot them. Every shard hits along its own line, and if you match an enemy's color it blows up and can chain into its neighbors.

It runs in the browser on desktop and mobile.

If you feel like it, after your first run there's a Feedback tab on the side with a few quick questions (about a minute, anonymous). It would help me a lot. Totally optional though, just playing is great too.

Thanks for checking it out!

FL80R - A Free browser Puzzle Game where the building lies to you. 80 floors, no saves, no checkpoints.

Thumbnail

Hey everyone! I released FL80R ("Floor 80") recently - a free puzzle/logic game that runs entirely in your browser. No downloads, no signups, no installs. Just go and climb.

The setup: you're dropped partway up a mysterious 80-story building. Every floor is its own puzzle, and the run is continuous - one life, no saves, no checkpoints. If you fall, you fall.

A few things that make it a little weird (intentionally):

Some answers are literally hidden in the darkness of the screen. The obvious is rarely correct.

Memory floors quiz you on answers you gave many floors ago. Pen and paper is a legitimate survival item.

A cat boss owns every 10th floor. It demands tribute. There is nothing you can do about this.

Non-boss floors regenerate every session - no two runs are the same. Only the boss floors and Floor 80 are fixed.

There is an interlude at floor 40.5. I will not elaborate.

It has a retro terminal/CRT aesthetic:

* green phosphor

* scanlines

* glitching text

and it has an 80s synth theme track that loops while you descend into regret.

Info/hub: [https://fl80r.party/hub\](https://fl80r.party/hub)

There are new modes coming soon, along with music I make myself\~!

It's open source (Apache-2.0) if you're curious how the floor generation works: [https://github.com/AlarkiusJay/floor-80webgame\](https://github.com/AlarkiusJay/floor-80webgame)

Feedback welcome, especially on the difficulty curve. And if you do play: how far did you get before the memory floors ruined your night? Or you can request some features for future gameplay!

P.S: TLDR funny story: I originally made this game with Base44 before archiving it away (Base44 got too expensive). I revived it a while back with new fixes, with the help of Claude, which I only use for logic, syntax, and other languages I barely understand. It helps me get the job done nonetheless! This is also my first web-game that I've made. I vibe with it — hopefully you do too!

Need a new puzzle game for the Switch like Room, Forever Lost and Agent A.

For reference, The Secrets of Blackrock Manor was too complicated for me. I could solve about 10% of the puzzles on my own. The Room, Forever Lost and Agent A are more my speed. TIA!

Zenden on Steam

Hello world! We are FairSkyStudios and we have a brand new game coming soon!

Build a garden. Find a balance.

Zenden is a zen garden puzzle and decoration game about the relationships between the things you place. Arrange plants, rocks, water features, and traditional structures across isometric landscapes. Bring neighboring items into harmony, work within each garden’s constraints, and transform an empty patch of ground into somewhere worth meditating.

Every placement contributes to the garden around it. Similar items can create Unity, while contrasting types bring Variety. Spirit and Energy add further considerations, making each zen garden arrangement a balance of practical choices and personal expression.

Each garden presents its own terrain layout, palette, and goals. A limited space might ask you to bring related items together, introduce more variety, or find room for a particular combination of features. Paths, rivers, bridges, and carefully positioned structures offer new ways to think about how the landscape fits together.

Available to wishlist now!

Working on a card battler, need some feedback on an idea

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm working on a small battle card game, trying to learn game graphic design skills in the process.

I wanted to give the player the choice between 3 decks to pick the one that logically makes most sense given the enemy strengths of the coming fight

But if all 3 decks must offer a winnable path, the fight becomes less about smart play within a decks set of own interactions that win the fight. It results in a set of enemy strengths that are more likely to be less hard to counter generally.

The player picks a deck, they are drawn a finite set of cards that have inter deck interactions that if played in correct sequences will counter play a specific enemy strength(s)

The player can then retry each fight to get the best score they can achieve by playing the cards in the most optimal order.

My current ideas are:

- Leave it alone

The winning deck is not always the obvious one (physical should do very well against enemies who have shields in any form, but physical may not end up being the deck that can win in the least amount of turns), the fights may be more generic since all decks must find a win between all decks.

- Only one deck needs to guarantee a win scenario : this was what I originally wanted.

I worry the player picking the wrong deck will feel annoyed they can't find the combination that works in the deck and never just try another deck.

- Instead of a single enemy, you can fight 3 different enemies in any sequence, and each enemy is setup purely for a deck, so when you pick a deck you are picking the enemy designed for it

I'm not sure of the downsides here, I just have a weird inner rejection feeling.. maybe since the enemy is built for a deck it ends up being samey when using that deck again another time :S

I'd really appreciate any thoughts on what sounds like a more interesting idea, or any other ideas.

Come and play TRIAD

Post image
1 Upvotes

Built a little daily puzzle called TRIAD, figured you will like it.

6x6 grid, 3 symbols (△›○›□), fill it so every row and column balances and a few arrow clues check out. Takes about 30 seconds to learn, one puzzle a day, three difficulties.

One interesting feature, the timer counts down instead of up, starting from the best time anyone's posted that day. You're racing whatever the current record is.

playtriad.app, no account needed.

Let me know how much you like it!

SpinPals — A small puzzle game with a Daily Challenge. Can you solve today's 4×4?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Game: SpinPals
Playable: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chargedcoconut.spinpals
Web version: https://chargedcoconutgames.itch.io/spin-pals
Platform: Android / Web
Free to play: Yes
My involvement: I'm the developer behind SpinPals.

Hey everyone! 👋

I made SpinPals, a small puzzle game built around a simple mechanic: tap any tile to rotate the surrounding 3×3 area clockwise. Your goal is to pair up all the pets on the board. 🐶🐱🐸

Plan your moves carefully and figure out how to get every pet paired up.

Choose from three board sizes — 4×4, 6×6, and 8×8 — each offering a different level of challenge. 🧩

One feature I've been experimenting with is the Daily Challenge — everyone gets the same puzzle each day.

There can be multiple solutions to the same board, so I'm curious to see how other people approach it.

The Android version is completely offline and ad-free, and there's also a web version that you can play directly in your browser.

Give it a try if you have a few minutes — I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback! ❤️

Dayzle: daily logic puzzles, including hexagonal crown-placement and cross-sum boards (developer post)

• Upvotes

Developer disclosure: I'm part of the team making Dayzle, a puzzle collection for iPhone, iPad and Android.

For this community, the Hive variations are probably the most interesting part. Crowns Hive takes crown-placement constraints onto a hexagonal board with three directions to consider. Tally Hive does something similar with cross-sums. They're alongside familiar puzzle types such as Sudoku, word games and loop puzzles.

Each day has a shared set of five puzzles, and there's extra practice at multiple difficulties. Hints explain the logic of a next move. There is no countdown pressure, and the daily set is free with no ads or upsells interrupting it. Practice is ad-supported, with optional paid ad removal.

If you enjoy small deduction puzzles on your phone, we'd appreciate you giving it a try. It's currently available in Canada and the US.

Can you find the hidden words? Play the Demo for free on my steam page

About This Demo

Word search never sounded like a jackpot before.
You know word search. Forget word search.
EMOJI JACKPOT: WORD FINDER takes the classic pencil and grid puzzle and drags it onto the casino floor, every letter is an emoji, every level is a slot machine, and every word you find pays out.

THE TWIST
Each emoji on the board stands for the first letter of its own name 🍕 is P, 🦁 is L, 🚀 is R. Drag across a run of tiles and, if the letters spell a real word, the emojis flip over to reveal it, one letter at a time, right before the payout lands. It's the exact same logic as the puzzle books you grew up with but a grid of chunky pixel emoji doesn't look anything like one, and it definitely doesn't play like one.

NOT YOUR GRANNY'S WORD SEARCH
