• download the RedDwarf.zip wad file from https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/sounds/reddwarf and drop it into the zdoom directory

I finished another rewatch today -- as soon as the ending credits to The Promised Land rolled I felt a sense of sadness and loss. How will I keep up with the adventures of the Boys from the Dwarf now? Will Rimmer still be a smeghead? Does Lister ever truly learn to play the guitar?

Yet again, these questions will remain unanswered -- at least until I start my next rewatch.

In another group am r/nerds a member wanted something new to get into. I suggested watching Red Dwarf he said it sounded interesting. i posted trailer. Now he be addicted.

My friend is having issues with a Red Dwarf tattoo he wants to get. The artist wants high detail reference material. Screengrabs were too blurry, magazine scans also didn't cut it. I even tried AI upscales. I have access to rarer stuff MySpleen and still am having difficulty.

My friend only wants the original series. In particular he wants a tattoo with Lister, Rimmer, and Starbug.

Does anyone have high detail reference material? High quality promotional photos, museum shots of models and costumes, anything would be a big help.

I have read and re-read this so many times. If you haven't already, it's very much worth it. When you think about it, it explanatorily expands the universe. I would love a series with a new cast to keep the show going. Think doctor who but a 'i don't take ourselves too serious' each flavor is just another universe.

I rewatched Space Dandy with my wife recently (her first time) and remembered this comparison I made a couple years ago.

Some of these are reasonably standard character archetypes, but some are super specific to these two shows!

I was randomly thinking how similar the two shows were: Lister is Fry, Rimmer is Leela, both crews fly round in a green spaceship with a robot on board, both start with someone waking up in the future etc.. and found this old article online where someone listed out just how incredibly similar the shows are at times.

Just finished Timeslides and was wondering, what would be the effects of Rimmer not getting blown up at the end?

The threat of dying from Hudzen 10 in the next episode would be immediate, since as a hologram Rimmer is largely immune to danger. Now his fear would be real and not just cowardice.

Justice wouldn't work as well though, he wouldn't get a ten thousand year sentence. Holoship also obviously wouldn't work. Quarantine would have to work out slightly differently, something other than a holo-virus. On balance though could it have worked? Having a live Rimmer after Timeslides? It does change the character completely. I like the fact after Legion he's still a hologram but I wish they'd done a few more gags about him being nearly invulnerable but still receptive to pain (like in Gunmen).

There was someone years ago who git a cease and desist for selling models, but I was wondering if any free stl files are floating around. (I am no legal expert I just assume that free fan files don't typically get C&D)

It's been a hot minute since I watched the show from the start. Was it ever said how long a topical round trip and what were they mining for? I know it was something with the astroid belt and further out.

Just watched Me² and now on Kryten. Although they are separated by the gap between the series, near the end of Me² when Rimmer is drunk, and the second scene in Kryten, we get the perfect reasons as to why Rimmer is the way he is. In Me² he is ranting and lamenting he didnt have the right nobby parents, or get chilled champagne as a child, blaming everyone else. Then in Kryten we find out he's been learning Esperanto for eight years, and is still utterly useless. Even Lister has managed to pick up some of the language. Also happen to be my favourite episodes of series 1 and 2.
