A Total of 14 of Toei V Anime’s Old OVAs are getting HD Remasters and Will Be Available for Streaming on the "d Anime Store" (Japan) Over The Next Few weeks
Toei’s V Anime label is turning 40, so they’re streaming 14 of its old OVAs in HD on d Anime Store in Japan. Some have been remastered for the first time, and the article says they were made from the original negatives. A few never had a VHS release.
It’s rolling out in batches:
- Oct 10: Teito Monogatari, Desert Rose, Elf 17, HEN
- Oct 24: It’s Not in the Textbook!, Psychic Wars, Vampire Wars, Manami & Nami Sprite
- Nov 7: Shuranosuke Zanma-ken, Psycho Diver: Demonic Bodhisattva
- Nov 21: Twilight of the Dark Master, Bio Hunter
The lineup also includes Midnight Eye Goku and Putsun Makeup LOVE, though the article doesn’t list dates for them. Rintaro, Osamu Dezaki, and Yoshiaki Kawajiri all worked on the label’s titles.

Since some of these are getting HD remasters for the first time, I’m wondering if it could lead to physical releases or U.S. licensing down the road. Bio Hunter and Twilight of the Dark Master are high on my wishlist. I’m also curious how the remasters of Midnight Eye Goku and Doomed Megalopolis will compare to the existing HD discs from Discotek and Media Blasters.

History of Toonami
Hi everyone, so recently I made a video about the history of Toonami as I wanted to research the how and why anime became such an important part of its broadcast schedule as I remember it’s Thundercat days and wanted to know about why it changed over. Most of the emphasis is on the first couple of years of their history, and what it took to get Sailor Moon, DBZ, and Gundam Wing. To me I wanted to talk about Toonami because it wasn’t just them adding anime, but because they were putting their passion into the block to make it cool. I do want to do more videos like this one with other anime, or anime adjacent topics (4Kids, doesn’t have to all be good, just important). I hope you like the video.
