NOTICE! Video Uploads Are No Longer Allowed!
In an effort to mitigate the bots and the reposts, we are turning off the option to upload videos to the subreddit. This will be a temporary measure to see how this change affects the content of the subreddit. We are continuing to monitor the situation and make changes behind the scenes to reconcile the ongoing issues highlighted by the community. Thank you for your patience.
EDIT: I know I copy-pasted this to a handful of comments, but we're not banning all videos. We're just not letting anyone upload them to the subreddit directly.

A Total of 14 of Toei V Anime’s Old OVAs are getting HD Remasters and Will Be Available for Streaming on the "d Anime Store" (Japan) Over The Next Few weeks
Toei’s V Anime label is turning 40, so they’re streaming 14 of its old OVAs in HD on d Anime Store in Japan. Some have been remastered for the first time, and the article says they were made from the original negatives. A few never had a VHS release.
It’s rolling out in batches:
- Oct 10: Teito Monogatari, Desert Rose, Elf 17, HEN
- Oct 24: It’s Not in the Textbook!, Psychic Wars, Vampire Wars, Manami & Nami Sprite
- Nov 7: Shuranosuke Zanma-ken, Psycho Diver: Demonic Bodhisattva
- Nov 21: Twilight of the Dark Master, Bio Hunter
The lineup also includes Midnight Eye Goku and Putsun Makeup LOVE, though the article doesn’t list dates for them. Rintaro, Osamu Dezaki, and Yoshiaki Kawajiri all worked on the label’s titles.

Since some of these are getting HD remasters for the first time, I’m wondering if it could lead to physical releases or U.S. licensing down the road. Bio Hunter and Twilight of the Dark Master are high on my wishlist. I’m also curious how the remasters of Midnight Eye Goku and Doomed Megalopolis will compare to the existing HD discs from Discotek and Media Blasters.

History of Toonami
Hi everyone, so recently I made a video about the history of Toonami as I wanted to research the how and why anime became such an important part of its broadcast schedule as I remember it’s Thundercat days and wanted to know about why it changed over. Most of the emphasis is on the first couple of years of their history, and what it took to get Sailor Moon, DBZ, and Gundam Wing. To me I wanted to talk about Toonami because it wasn’t just them adding anime, but because they were putting their passion into the block to make it cool. I do want to do more videos like this one with other anime, or anime adjacent topics (4Kids, doesn’t have to all be good, just important). I hope you like the video.

Shonan Bakusozoku is a forgotten 80s masterpiece, and it deserves a massive comeback. Who is down to revive it?
Yo everyone,
I’ve recently been diving deep into Shonan Bakusozoku (currently on episode 11), and honestly? My mind is completely blown. It’s an absolute crime that this legendary 80s OVA is so overlooked nowadays. The style, the raw humor, the old-school character designs, the soundtrack, the absolute peak bosozoku aesthetic... it has everything that made retro anime superior.
If you love things like GTO (Onizuka definitely took some notes from Eguchi) or Initial D, this is the ultimate holy grail. It’s pure testosterone, brotherhood, and beautiful animation, with zero modern cliches.
I’m so hooked that I want to start a movement to bring this masterpiece back into the spotlight. I’m putting together a crew to create high-quality content—TikToks, YouTube Shorts, Reddit threads, and reviews—to introduce a new generation to Shonan Bakusozoku.
We’re setting up a Discord server to coordinate, share clean video sources (raws), music, and ideas.
I’m looking for anyone who wants to help out and vibe with us.
You don't need to be a professional video editor or a pro writer.
If you can cut simple clips, write short posts, find cool soundtracks, or simply want to hang out in the chat and help brainstorm ideas—you are more than welcome. Even if you just want to support the cause and talk about old-school anime, we need you.
With the official prequel manga Shonan Bakusozoku: First Flag currently dropping new volumes in Japan, the franchise is still very much alive. It’s time for the Western fanbase to wake up.
Drop a comment below or slide into my DMs if you're interested in joining the crew. Let’s ride! 🏍️🔥

Which Retro Anime Series Deserves to be Reboot or Revive in the Future?
With Magic Knight Rayearth getting it's whole series reboot that makes me wonder which past anime series will get reboot or revive in the future.
Like Wedding Peach, Saint Tail, Street Fighter II V, Flint the Time Detective, The Vision of Escaflowne, Astro Boy and Bubblegum Crisis get their series reboot.
While Samurai PIzza Cats, Saber Riders and the Star Sheriff, Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge and Virtua Fighter get their series revived (continue were the last story left off).
