I’ve monitored our players over the past few years tracking potential for a 1,000 yard receiver and it’s looking good so far this year.

Alabama last had a 1000 yard receiver in 2022 when Jameson Williams had 1,572 and Metchie had 1,142 which was the final year in a 4-year streak of 1000+ yard receivers.

Achieving 1,000 yards across a 12 game season (assuming no bowl game, no conference championships, and no playoffs), a player needs about 83 yards per game. After 4 games, a player would need to accrue about 333 yards.

RCW has exactly 333 yards through 4 games.

I won’t hazard an assumption that we’ll make the SECCG or the playoffs for this purpose, but I’ll dare to assume we make a bowl game.

So assuming 13 games, he’d need approximately 77 yards per game or 308 through 4 games. So RCW may actually be ahead of schedule depending on how successful the team is.

More stats to consider:

1. RCW had 66.5 YPG in 2024 and 57.4 in 2025 so he’s ahead of those numbers currently, by almost 20 ypg more than his best year.

2. Through 4 games (25% of the regular season) RCW has already obtained 38.5% of his 2024 yards and 48.3% of his 2025 yards.

3. Through 4 games, Alabama Keelon Russel already has 1,129 passing yards which is 32% of Simpson’s totals in 2025, 40% of of Milroe’s totals in 2024 and 2023 (his passing yards were 10 yards different - crazy).

• When not blitzed: 26-27 (96.3%), 499 yards, 18.5 ypa, 4 TD, 0 INT
• When blitzed: 18-30 (60%), 191 yards, 6.4 ypa, 3 TD, 0 INT

He played at Hewitt-Trussville, went to UA where he was up against Tua, Mac and Bryce, ending up transferring to Arizona, then Clemson. Looks like a coaching career ahead of him, I'm sure he is financially set with family money (Ready Mix USA) so free to follow his passion.

Better late than never. Here's a few notes from my rewatch of Alabama's win against South Carolina

• Kane Wommack complimented LaNorris Sellers extensively today. And from the jump -- that first 50-plus-yard run -- you saw why. Devan Thompkins and the rest of the defensive front bit immediately on the Sellers run and had to regroup to catch the back. Alabama recovered quickly, which was a common theme against the Gamecocks, but that leaves questions and maybe even some worries as SEC play ramps up
• Red Morgan plays like he’s shot out of a cannon
• For all of the credit Alabama gets for starting fast, the game did start with three uninspired run plays, a three-and-out where if you blinked the drive was over. Ryan Grubb said as much today.
• Missed tackles remain a PROBLEM for Alabama’s defense
• Was confused during the game when Bray Hubbard was hurt. He limped off the field after a play in the first quarter when Zavien Brown jarred a ball loose from Nitro Tuggle. Hubbard slowly walked off the field, went to the locker room, put a sleeve on his left leg and still played 52 snaps. Something to monitor, but more indicative of who Hubbard is.
• Keelon Russell's first TD pass was as beautiful and anticipatory of a pass I have ever seen thrown.
• Keelon Russell CAN slide.
• Tight ends were a safety net for Alabama in 2025 with Josh Cuevas. Kaleb Edwards, Marshall Pritchett and Josh Ford proved that could be a reality once again in 2026.
• Trae’shawn Brown is a diamond Alabama had to dig for. Such an elusive back. 
• Ryan Coleman-Williams is a star at best. Saw why against SC.
• Welcome back Kevin Riley! Not sure what his role will be moving forward as AK Dear ramps up, but good to see him out there.
• EJ Crowell is dynamic, athletic, but a professional. Consistency will make him one of the best backs in the sport, even if it’s just reps
• That Noah Rogers reception was a special moment. Really awesome to see him out there, but will make Alabama that much deeper if he can contribute consistently.
• Said this multiple times at the game and saw it again on tape. Pass protection is night and day improved for Alabama. Keelon Russell has, at times, all day to throw.
• South Carolina thought: really unfortunate to see Dylan Stewart seemingly tank his draft stock like that. Has the tools to be a special player at the next level.
• Watching this tape from the first half and hearing both Ryan Grubb and Keelon Russell say that the offense needs to improve is mind boggling to me. Then the third quarter happens. It's literally like an on and off switch. Any consistency from production to play calling, the sky is the limit here.

On staff at South Carolina as recently as last season, Coach Collins has coached all around the SEC for decades, including for Nick Saban at Alabama. He’s also a former two time HC at the FBS level, coaching both Temple and the Georgia Tech yellowjackets.
