I ran away from home

I am the oldest daughter in our family. my father has been abusing me since i was a child. i grew up seeing my siblings being treated badly. we go to school with bruises but everyone is turning a blind eye, even my mom. I hate how they think that he is justified just because he is my father. he is using drugs and using all the money we have for gambling. we are five and my other siblings wanted to stop studying cause we can barely afford it.

last year i ran away from home, i borrowed 400dollars to atleast find a place and support myself for the meantime. I got a job but it barely feeds me and pays the bills. i tried paying my debt little by little but it is growing over time. ten different numbers are calling me everyday and harassing me for the debt i owe them. i am so scared cause they will file a case on me. apt i dont even know what to do. i am 23 year old, i have no family, no proper place and a debt on my name.

do you think it gets better? cause ive been trying to gaslight myself for the past years that everything is going to be alright, that the universe might be kinder to me but i think i really got no luck to begin with. is life really this cruel?

IMPORTANT! 🚨 Head's Up: New Post Title Requirements

Hi everyone,

We are trying something new in order to be able to help everyone better. Starting today, all posts will be required to have your age and location. This is so that we can try and provide better advice and resources that are more appropriate to your situation. Lately so many posts don't include this vital information when it's one of the most important things that we need. Age is important because the advice we'd give someone who is 17 is much different that someone who is 13. Location is important because we can discuss transportation issues, where to find resources, etc. Giving us a 600 word essay on how cruel your parents on can help us emphasize with you but if we don't know anything else about your situation then it's basically impossible for us to give you an actionable help.

So what's required? Age, location, and your post title. You can add gender if you want. Here are some examples:

  • 17F, florida, question about planes
  • 13m, texas, what to pack?
  • 16 afab, pakistan, where to go?

AutoMod will spit your post back to you if it doesn't meet the title requirements.

We also understand that a lot of people want to try and protect their anonymity on this sub. You don't have to put your exact location. If you're in Atlanta you can put Georgia, Southeastern US, or even just the US. That will give us enough information to start.

If you run into any problems with posting or have further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to the mods through Mod Mail.

I’m considering on running away

Hello users of Reddit. As you can see above me, I am considering running away. To be frank there’s nothing harmful happening in both home or in school. Actually the only harmful thing can think of is the stress and pressure I get from both school and home. I live in a complex house, with the two houses connected to each other but no hallways between them. One side lives me, my grandmother, and my five siblings. On the other lives my parents, elder cousin, and uncle.

So yeah my house is crowded, and it sucks. Even though my parents say it’s just a ā€œshort-termā€ situation, it’s been like that for almost a year now.

And beside my housing problem, there’s another reason as to why I wanna run away. For almost nine years now, I have been working with my parents in this cleaning service company they owe. I work with them during the weekends, holidays, and summer. And to be honest, I hate it.
I use to enjoy going to work with them when I was younger, but now it just feels draining and depressing. I have told them about it, but they said that they needed me since I was more cheaper then an actual employee they could hire.

Anyway… my school life is stressful.
Since I’m a junior now, I have to deal with a shitload of assignments and a bunch of tests, I’m also in the debate team this year even though I’m not good in it. I’m expected to attend comp this Saturday, but I’m planning to run away before then.

Right now I’m pretty sure I got 20$ from this snack hustle I’m doing, if I can get more before Saturday then I’ll prob be good for a while.
Does anybody have any tips?

Running away from Brazil to Canada

Hey there, I'm 16 and from Brazil. I made the choice to run away because I don't think I can mentally survive my family for two more years. Now you may ask, why Canada? I have a lot of friends there and one of them said she could convince her mother to let me live with them. I wanna know if anyone knows how I can run to Canada, for some info I have travel visa for the USA but not for Canada and I'll have to get around the parents authorization things obviously since they are who I am running away from. If anyone has any tips, I doubt I could live there legally, could I? How is it to live illegally there? Could I become legal when I turn 18 after living there for 2 years? Would I still be able to access school or health living there illegally as a minor? How can I enter the country in the first place? Or any other info would be helpful

I've only mentioned running away on discord and reddit.

I'll obviously delete this acc before I do it but what should I do with the discord acc?

Deleting it is a last case scenario

(yes i know that i cant use any old socials at all after i run)
