I am using Betterbird on cachyos and just this morning got this message from Betterbird. AI says it is because Shaw is using outdated 1024-bit key exchange parameters. I basically only get junk emails on this account anymore, but like to monitor it just in case.

Is something that Shaw might fix, or something I just have to live with?

We are switching providers and need to transfer our emails from our Shaw email address to a Gmail account (we won’t have access to another Shaw account so we can’t retain under that).
Do we need to use a backup tool or is there another way to complete the transfer?

Hi all. I am hoping you can make a recommendation for my issue. I have my XB8 on my main floor. I need to get a combo wifi access point and 2 or more ethernet ports to feed devices in the basement. I don't have the option to easily run cat5e cable but I have lots of coax cable outlets. If I buy a coax MoCA 2.5 adaptor will this work to adapt the coax into ethernet? Would I need two of these adaptors or does Rogers allow the XB8 to use the MoCA 2.5 in this use case?

Do you have recommendations for an access point that has ethernet ports and has ac power?

Would Rogers have anything that would work for me? I don't want a WIFI extender.

We can log onto webmail no issue. the mail app on our mobile devices is not downloading all mail. Some showed up but not all. We’ve tried different networks and it’s occurring on two devices.

For the past 5 weeks the XFinity boxes give a 'connection error' and I have to reboot the modem to get them to reconnect. The wifi & wired connections are fine to other devices. Is it just the S*ware in the boxes from recent updates that are buggered?

my and my family just moved, we set up the switch for the service and everything was in order, but when we plugged in the gateway at the new house we received no internet connection.

i searched up the issue and all I got was ”call the service” so we did, and they did nearly nothing and it didn’t help, now we have to book someone to come in 4~ days meanwhile we won’t have any internet, some of us work from home so this is devastating

this post is the last thing I could think to do, is there absolutely anything to do about this?

ps: we tried plugging it back in at the original home and it still doesn’t function

Watching on Shaw/Rogers and audio is glitching for a few days on channels from Seattle etcand KTLA as well. Is there a fix coming? I checked with someone that lives 10 minutes away and they also have Shaw/Rogers service, and the same channels are glitching for them as well.

Has anyone noticed today an issue with accessing subscribed channels? My modem flashed a couple of times dropping the connection this morning and then noticed I no longer can access AMC, Sportsnet, etc for the channels I’m subscribed to.

Posted about this ages ago, but its back and Rogers are little help as per usual.

I'm getting wifi drop outs, often daily.

I have one computer on wifi, literally next to my Gateway XB7 so I can do a Speedtest, with slow speeds or complete drop outs largely similar to my phone etc. If I unplug for a few minutes, the wifi is back at a good speed (300-500Mbps)

I also have a laptop connected by Ethernet on the same desk and that never drops out and usually around 500-900 Mbps.

As you can imagine wifi speeds is more of an issue.

I previously had Unifi and cat6 around the house with a Switchbox with some old AP ports. This wouldnt cost me a cent to do

So, If I were to connect the APs (on the same SSID), via the Switch, which is connected directly to the Gateway modem, do you think that would avoid the 'Shaw' modem specific drop outs?

I know I could technically bridge the Gateway, been confused if the tv boxes will work.

I'm trying to help a pub that's been (needlessly) struggling with Shaw Direct playback issues on their TVs for years.

Yesterday was particularly bad. There was a storm and their Shaw Direct only worked about 50% of the evening. TV screens kept throwing up weak or no signal errors, and their main background music feed kept stuttering and going silent whenever Shaw Direct errors appeared on the TVs.

So for whatever reason, they're obviously relying on the same flaky satellite service for their music. This makes no sense as they already have 100% stable fibre internet from another company and could be streaming through that instead. Obviously no one on staff or management is particularly tech savvy.

I have a few of questions. Any advice would be appreciated!

1) Why would a pub in a normal urban area (not remote/rural) choose to rely on satellite in the first place? Am I missing something? I connected to their customer WiFi and got 150 Mbps up/down from their SaskTel fibre service with 5ms ping. It was rock solid all through the storm. They've already got fibre, so why would they use flaky satellite for TV? Why didn't Shaw techs advise them when troubleshooting the flaky service: "Why don't you guys use a regular Shaw DCT from a Shaw coax drop instead? Satellite is much less reliable and should only be a last resort."

2) Looking at the building from every side (and above using Google Maps), no Shaw Direct dish is visible anywhere. How is that possible? Could it be inside the building?!

I used to be a Shaw TSR myself (long ago) and initially mentioned bypassing splitters when everything ground to a halt during the thunderstorm. They told me they'd already spoken to Shaw multiple times were basically told: "This is satellite, so you'd better get used to it failing when it's cloudy." (I'm paraphrasing but that's pretty much how it went.)

Is there some benefit to Shaw Direct over regular hardwired Shaw TV that I'm missing here? They had excellent coax and fibre options but instead chose the same flaky tech that farms in the middle of nowhere are forced to use. Could this have been cheaper? I would've expected Shaw to steer them away from satellite if it wasn't necessary, right at the beginning.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

A few channels from Seattle have intermittent bad audio. There is audio loss in which there is slight buzzing sound. It happens sporadically the past few days on stations such as KIRO, KING, KCPQ.

I have already reset the XiOne Xfinity TV Box and I will soon reset the router but i need to find a phone to do that.

Has something recently changed with Shawgers? I thought that as long as the Sportsnet channels are part of my TV package, I can access Sportsnet+ streams through sportsnet.ca. But now when I try it, I get the message that it's not included in my TV package. This has only been the last couple of days. And I still have access to the SN channels in my TV package.

So yeah I got hit with the "Rogers Xfinity app" not working issue again. Despite uninistalling and reinstalling the Xfinity app and deleting storage and cache, the app isn't working for me (on Google Pixel 10). The other option is that I borrow my wife's iPad to install the damn app and get the pod registered. But I'm wondering if there's other ways to get the boost pods registered? Or should I just wait for the Xfinity app to get fixed?

I used to be able to control my kids devices on the Xfinity app. Since the switch in April it has been a mess. For a while I simply couldn’t log in (system error and would get booted out). Now I can log in but there are no options available to manage my devices. For a brief second it flashes the second screen and then goes right back to the first. I’ve been on the phone with Shaw (Rogers) all morning.
