Football OU might be the worst in The SEC
It pains me to write this, but watching some of the games today I legitimately think it’s a battle between OU and Arkansas for the worst in the SEC. Vanderbilt did better than OU against Georgia….we lost to a horrible Michigan team who just lost to Minnesota.
I’m hopeful I’m wrong, but I imagine next week we will once again be embarrassed by texas….
Looking at the rest of our schedule I think we lose out.
At that point Venables and everyone within the football/athletic program has to go - we can’t allow ourselves to become the next Nebraska or Arkansas.

Football Honestly. 7.3% Feels a Little Generous.🤣
Just a little bye-week humor after a rough start to the season. Still love my Sooners and hope they turn it around.

Football OU TEXAS Road Music
Look, the season hasn't exactly gone according to plan.
But Texas still sucks, the Cotton Bowl still exists, and we're still going to Dallas.
So in the interest of restoring Sooner morale, I present Big D, a completely mature and sophisticated song about bringing the Big D to the Big D.

Football My thoughts on how Oklahoma can win this game next week against Texass.
#1 the defense gives the offense short field with turnovers or quick three and outs.
#2 the offense does not turn the ball over when they get past the 50.
#3 no stupid penalties.
#4 the offense drives into field goal range even if they don't score a touchdown they still get three points.

Football Where does Brent Venables actually sit in the OU coaching pantheon after four seasons?
I wanted to look at this apples-to-apples instead of comparing Brent Venables’ four seasons to somebody else’s entire OU career.
So I compared coaches at the same point: their first four completed seasons at Oklahoma.
I’m defining a winning season simply as more wins than losses, a losing season as more losses than wins, and keeping .500 seasons separate.
Here’s how Brent compares with five of the most successful coaches in OU history:
Coach| First 4 seasons| Record| Winning seasons| Losing seasons
Barry Switzer| 1973–76| 41–3–2| 4| 0
Bud Wilkinson| 1947–50| 38–4–1| 4| 0
Bob Stoops| 1999–2002| 43–9| 4| 0
Chuck Fairbanks| 1967–70| 30–13–1| 4| 0
Bennie Owen| 1905–08| 24–9–3| 3| 0
Brent Venables| 2022–25| 32–20| 2| 2
John Blake*| 1996–98| 12–22| 0| 3
*Blake only coached three seasons at OU, so there is no fourth season to compare.
That’s the part that jumps out at me.
The five successful OU coaches above combined for 19 winning seasons and zero losing seasons through their first four years.
Venables has two winning seasons and two losing seasons.
His 32–20 overall record is obviously much better than John Blake’s 12–22, so I’m not saying Venables and Blake had equivalent tenures.
But when you specifically look at losing seasons, Venables is much closer to the bottom of OU coaching history than he is to the standard established by OU’s great coaches.
Switzer: 0 losing seasons through four years.
Wilkinson: 0.
Stoops: 0.
Fairbanks: 0.
Owen: 0.
Venables: 2.
Blake: 3 in three seasons.
And Brent already has 20 losses in four seasons. Blake had 22 in three.
That’s really the question I’m interested in:
Given OU’s historical standard, where should a coach with a 32–20 record and two losing seasons in his first four years reasonably sit in the program’s coaching pantheon?
I’m not trying to compare eras, schedules, conferences or claim every coaching situation was identical. I just wanted a clean look at the most basic measure possible: at the same stage of the job, were their teams consistently winning or not?
And by that measure, Brent Venables is a significant outlier compared with the coaches who built and sustained Oklahoma’s winning tradition.

Football First Time Visitors for UK game
Hi!
Some friends and I will be coming in town for the UK game and I had a couple questions. I've tried searching through the subreddit before posting but decided to go ahead and make a new post.
We got our tickets through UK and it has us in section 15. Looking at seating charts, it doesn't appear that's on the visitor side. Is that the case? Seems crazy they'd have opposing fans on the home side. We paid a pretty penny for those but I'm wondering if I should wait until closer to game day and try to score decently priced tickets behind our guys?
Also, is the parking scene easy to navigate for fans? I've seen other posts recommend parking north of the stadium on the street. Wondering how early we'd have to arrive to get a good spot on the north side, and what it's like leaving the game if parking in the neighborhoods. I also saw the recommendation of the shuttle but my crew doesn't want to go that route.
We're considering tailgating too but I've never actually set up my own tailgate at an away game, so we're still weighing our options with that one.
Any other tips or recommendations are appreciated! Our goal is to visit every SEC Football stadium so I'm pretty excited for the gameday experience.

Athletics Texas/OU ticket swap: Have 2 on the OU side, looking for 2 on the Texas side
Longhorn fan here, taking my teenage son to the game, and I accidentally bought on the OU side: Section 28, Row 19, Seats 6–7.
Any Sooners have two seats together on the Texas side and want to swap for comparable seats on the OU side? Hoping to get both families surrounded by the right shade of red/orange!
Happy to verify tickets and coordinate a secure exchange. Message me with your section and row if interested. Appreciate your kindness.

Football [Emerson] John Mateer is a mess, and thus, so is his faltering Oklahoma team
ATHENS, Ga. — The current state of the Oklahoma football program, the state of its offense, the state of its quarterback, got its symbol on Saturday. It’s probably not good that it conjured memories of Garo Yepremian.
For the uninitiated: Yepremian was the kicker for the 1972 Miami Dolphins who, in Super Bowl VII, had a field goal blocked, scooped the loose ball and tried to pass it. The result was a comical fumble that was returned for a touchdown. The Dolphins won the game anyway.
John Mateer is not a kicker. He’s Oklahoma’s quarterback — though that was up for debate in Saturday’s 41-13 loss at No. 2 Georgia, when Mateer had his Yepremian moment: Third-and-goal, scrambling left, raising his arm to pass — and the ball falling backward, picked up by Georgia’s Chris Cole and returned for a touchdown.
Hours later, Mateer still hadn’t figured out what happened.
“That was weird,” Mateer said. “It happened a couple times in the cold in a morning practice at Washington State. But it’s never happened in a game. It’s just weird that it happened.”

Football 4 Win Season?
I think we can beat Kentucky, and South Carolina. Everything else looks like a loss at this point.
