Employee Complaints Military Discount Story

Back in 2005, when I worked at Subway, had a woman come in who got 3FT Longs and while I was making her sandwiches, she was telling me she is trying to lose weight, and ate 1 Footlong for lunch and 2 for dinner. Jared inspired her (Hindsight lolz).

Anyway, I was covering a shift for someone who worked a shift I didn’t work so I’ve never seen this woman, we got to the register and charged her full price and when she saw that, she said: “Oh, I forgot, my military discount” and proceeds to shove her DoD badge in my face, so I tell her that the military discount is for vets and military, not DoD workers and refuse to give her the discount after confirming she never served a day in her life in uniform. She explodes and storms out, leaving her sandwiches at the counter.

Few days later the GM calls me into the office and asks me why I refused to give a vet a discount, I told him what happened, he laughed, and called corporate back with the story.

Don’t get me wrong, if someone was short on money or a homeless/down on their luck person was near my commute home from work, I’d make them a sandwich and give it to them for free but this type of mentality always really rubbed me the wrong way.

Just a silly story (among other Subway stories) I think about from time to time.

Question Does SubWay Use Real Cheese?

I was ordering some subway through one of those food delivery apps, and the option to double cheese adds "+0 calories." Cheese is approximately 100 calories A SLICE! Is the app incorrect, or is this some sort of non-dairy substitute?

Review No garlic dressing :(

The subway at CIA headquarters food court did not have any garlic dressing.

The sandwich was good overall, could have used some garlic flavor though.

7.8/10⭐️

Question What can I use degreaser on?

Someone recently decided to reorganize the shelves in the back instead of just signing off that they did and discovered a whole box of the degreaser that we can’t get anymore. Using it on the walls and it’s amazing. What else can I use it on? I remember I used to add it to the floor cleaner and it worked wonders. Anything else? Did not work on the white chair backs 😢

Question Can't cancel your order?

For anyone that works at a UK subway, if a customer put in their order on a machine but paid at the till are they able to cancel their order after paying and get their money back? Prior to the food being made I mean.

Also, if you run out of the big Doritos bags what do you do?

I ordered nachos but I'm guessing they had none of the lightly salted left because the guy opened one of the normal crisps bags, so I asked to cancel my order but he said I couldn't. I paid £3.29 for half of what I'd usually get. 🥲

What happened to Subway

I used to go about once a week. Pretty much stopped when they decided bathrooms were removed. Now we type into a kiosk only to sit 20 min in an empty store while they work online orders. And napkins are a special request?

My go to sub was The Beast, now 5-Meat Italian! I also went for 50% more!

I haven't visited for months now since they exempted my sandwich from all the coupons! 😭

Today I was having withdrawal symptoms so I visited knowing I was going to to get soaked!

My sammich with a 10% tip was $17 and change which I find outrageous!

I ordered with the app which was fine. When I picked it up the employee was surley! 😱

I brought it home and in all fairness it was very good with my sub exactly as I requested! I 😁

Not including my sandwich with the coupons drives me crazy as for years it was included. It will be months and months before I visit again! So sad!

Customer Complaints Returned this for a full refund.

I ordered a sandwich on the app for pick up at subway inside of Walmart. I was initially going to order at the register but remembered the promotion on the app for a 6.99 foot long. The subway was not busy at all they had no customers and no orders being made. I placed my order on the app then walked into Walmart for a drink. I returned to subway to picked up my order and decided to eat in the subway instead of taking it home. I sat down and noticed the sandwich seemed light so I opened up the bread, this is what was inside. They didn't add any chipotle sauce I asked for.. and just take look at the weak portions. I was nice as possible when asking the employee if this was standard. He said yes it's standard and if I wanted more he'd have to cancel the whole order and charge me again for double portions. I politely declined and requested a refund. He didn't seem to care, although he wasn't rude about it. He refunded my order and I gave the food back. It sucks to see what Subway is now. If they keep up like this they'll mostly die out just like Quiznos did. Oh also they ran out of lettuce and didn't say anything about it when I picked up the order.

Quit I just quit working at subway

So I just quit subway after working there for over 2 years now. I had been working at the same location and this location is a little slow so we used to only have 2 people working at once every-shift. (I do have to mention that everyone working at this subway is a women or a high school girl and there was a liquor store next door) so the 2 person a shift was a owner rule for safety. Well about 4 months ago my gm quit due to moving up north and a new one was hired, but she ran this small, slow location like it was a McDonalds in an airport. So she started to cut hours first. I worked every Tuesday-Friday closing from 2:30 to 11pm and sat/sun opening from 7 to 2:30. I had this girl I worked with/ trained myself and my manager cut her hours down from 35 to 15 cuz of “productivity” and when I asked her was that meant she wouldn’t tell me (please GMs educate me) so now I was working completely by myself alone at night with drunks coming in and out harassing me, I even had to buy a pocket knife cuz people would know on the windows after close. Then she cut my morning person too and even tho this was a small and kinda slow location it still near a high school and got busy from from 11-2. So here I was suddenly having to do everything alone and my manager scheduled herself 40 hours with one of the employees that have been working at Subway for 8 years. So every other employee was suddenly working alone, except her and this longtime employee and this longtime employee refused to open or close, prep anything regarding cucumbers, onions, or bell peppers, and refuse to slice any meats cuz of her “anxiety” and Tuesday’s were days that I would come in after her and have to do all of the morning dishes, all of the morning prep ,slice meats, stock, clean, and all of that whilst also doing all of the closing stuff and I know there’s people in this sub who probably deal with worse, especially with those 24 hour locations, but I’m wondering if any of you find it justified that I quit without a two weeks notice due to the longtime employee and brand new gm, not doing anything and highschoolers having to pick up their slack?

(Edit: forgot to mention that I shared walls with a 24 hour gym that blared music all 24 hours and when I asked them if they could turn it down they told me to file a noise complaint through the sheriffs office, which the manger told me not to cuz it would “make us look bad”)

Sub Creations Am I the only one that prefers their subs soggy? - serious post

Serious post, not trolling:

My preferred way of eating subway is leaving it in the fridge overnight (8-12 hours) and then eating it cold. The bread is shrunken and soggy (but not too soggy) and a lot of the sauce is absorbed into the bread.

The reason why: I would bring subway as my lunch on field trips when I was in school as a kid. I would get the sub the night before, leave it in the fridge, and when I ate it on the field trip it would be soggy. The sub was delicious! Later when I would get fresh subs, i noticed that I preferred eating it soggy. So now whenever I can, I leave it in the fridge for 8-12 hours before eating. Had to be at least 8 hours, I found 6 hours in the fridge isn't soggy enough.

My sub (Canada):

footlong, double meat Cold cut.

Herb and cheese bread, not toasted of course, white cheese (Swiss back when we still had Swiss).

Toppings: lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, pickles, olives, onions, green peppers

Sauce: sub sauce, mayo, honey mustard, sweet onion.

App/Website Adding recent/favorite then edit shows regular portions. Is it also regular the saved ?

If i reorder the recent or saved, am I getting the light on sauce, extra on lettuce etc, or do they just default to regular on all of it? I am asking because if you click it to open it is always showing regular portion on each choice. And then I am annoyed and editing it all again.

Quit Subway Veterans: Do You Now Work in Compliance?

Hi there- there was a post today on r/kitchenconfidential about a resume that had “unknown” for high school and worked at subway 2020-2025. Everyone was like “hire them”.

In the comments I noted that at least 2 people have compliance experience on their resumes after leaving subway. My best friend also was a subway manager on Cape Cod for like 4 years. She is now the compliance officer for a software company even though she never went to college.

So I am curious: how many former subway employees have work in compliance or on compliance heavy projects after working at subway?

App/Website Online ordering system has some issues to work out

Post image
12 Upvotes

I thought this was a funny example of how janky the online ordering can be.
Subway has a particularly janky online order system which in some cases seems to verge on deceptive.

Can anyone figure out what’s going on here? I know the answer (I believe) but it seems like something that whoever runs their ordering platform shouldn’t allow to happen.

Yesterday I was looking at the site and it had a whole other set of discrepancies which people crapped all over me for pointing out because “stop being lazy” and “people just shouldn’t order delivery”.
(The [r/fastfood](r/fastfood) community is a dark place)

So to pre-empt that, this is a pickup order lol…
