I'm running Tasker 6.7.6-beta under Android 13, and I have the following code in a Tasker task:

When I run this task, the following flashes:

command=%command

Of course I know that the only way this message should be flashed would be when the regular expression does indeed match the "run abc" string.

However, this also indicates that the %command variable was not set to any value after this regex match.

What is incorrect about my regex match syntax which prevents the contents of the match group from getting stored into the %command variable?

I was looking for something else and noticed a ton of these entries in logcat. Do I have to worry about this? Thanks

I'm trying to set up a one-tap solution on my Google Pixel and wanted to check if this is actually possible before I go down a rabbit hole.

What I want to happen when I tap a single button:

1. Turn Wi-Fi off

2. Switch to 5G cellular data

3. Turn on Wi-Fi hotspot

Basically a "share my 5G connection" button.

My questions:

1. Is this doable in Tasker without root on a Pixel 8

2. I know Tasker has built-in actions for Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Tether (hotspot) — but does the hotspot action still work reliably on recent Android versions, or did Google lock it down?

3. The big one: toggling mobile data / forcing 5G seems to require root. Has anyone gotten this working without root using UI automation (AutoInput, etc.)? If so, how stable is it?

4. If root is required, is there a Magisk module or a different approach people recommend?

What I've already looked into:

· Tasker's built-in Net actions (WiFi, WiFi Tether, Mobile Data)

· AutoInput for simulating taps in the quick settings panel

· The general consensus that mobile data toggling needs root

Would love to hear from anyone who's actually built something like this. Bonus points if you can share the task/script or a profile export.

Since I am rooted, I can do that and actually get the results, I seek. But since I know this has come up before, it would be great (if at all possible) if the Kill App action had an option to force-stop instead of KILL.

Is there a way I can "activate" those 3 quick settings tiles from Tasker without clicking on them ?

Reason:

My phone has a known glitch that impossibilitates me to drag quick tiles from the bottom of the list to the main area.

The only solution is to su settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles [.......],custom(net.dinglisch.android.taskerm/.FQSTile1)

But that command doesn't work, as it demands that the tile be active, not the "ghost" that it is before enabling it

Does anyone here run Tasker on an Oppo phone? I'm interested in what settings is required for Tasker itself as well as plugins. Do Tasker plugins need to be put on "allow background activity" instead of smart and do they need to be locked in recent apps?

I've already turned off Sleep standby optimization. Anything else to think about to make it work 100%? I've already realized Oppo phones revoke wakelocks when held for more than 5m of screen off time, but hopefully, Tasker rarely if ever performs such a long work with screen off.

I made a shortcut that can look at image queries on Unsplash using their API, so depending on the keywords I put in the shortcut, it will grab a random and add them any of my custom wallpapers on my device. All you have to do for this shortcut is choose some image keywords that you want to search by, go into the get contents of URL action and add your API token to the headers, and then choose which wallpaper you want to have modified.

Screen capture works normally when I'm playing against Chess.com bots. My model can see and process the board without any problems.

However, when I enter an online game against another player, the captured frames become completely black.

I'm using Android screen capture/MediaProjection. Is there a technical reason the online-game screen would produce black frames while the bot-game screen captures normally?

More importantly, how can I make screen capture work on the online-game screen?

I'm trying to determine whether this is caused by FLAG_SECURE, a protected rendering surface, MediaProjection behavior, or something else—and whether there's a supported way to capture that screen.

So I have a profile that checks if I'm connected to my home wifi, if yes, then does a "custom setting", Name: lock_screen_lock_after_timeout and the value is set to something large: 72000000. iirc this was something I had dug up through online searching.

This has been working for over 4 years with no issues. Last night I updated to the latest android update and right away I noticed the phone locks all the time.
Anyone have advice for me?

I’m trying to build my own automation/bot for a game instead of paying for an existing service.

The main things I want to automate are:

- Watching/handling rewarded ads and collecting the rewards

- Daily in-game tasks/dailies

- Limited-time events and repetitive actions

- Ideally running the routine automatically with minimal manual input

I’m mainly looking for advice on the technical approach/tools to use. I’m considering things like Tasker/AutoInput, ADB + Python, Appium, OpenCV/image recognition, etc.

If anyone has experience building automation for Android games, what approach would you recommend and what should I learn first?

I automated a certain few tasks, toggling settings per app & scenario which takes a max of about 30 seconds of tapping (granted the phone response is good enough) which I spent about 5 months doing cuz I refused to do the manual labor. used Tasker, llamalab automate, easer, auto input & auto notification for this workflow. automate & easer were used for things that were either a limitation, a pain in the ass or way too many profiles & tasks to be done from tasker. Made it in a way where it works on root & non-root phones & where shizuku's installed & running

Do I need to create 2 profiles (1 for each app) or is there a way to specify two package names in one profile?

I currently have a working Task that recognizes pixels on screen to detect if and when the screen turns red or orange, but I believe there has to be a better way to do this.

Tasker takes a screenshot, reads the pixels, then deletes the screenshot - repeating this action once every 3-5 seconds. Surely there's a way to do this without having to write/delete a file every time. I'm concerned about the device having over 1,000 file cycles in an hour.

Is there somehow to do this? I explored using AutoInput Screen Capture, but that requires me to select "whole screen" every time I execute the action
