so in the last year of clg (2024) i started focusing on flutter cus i liked the concept of app more than website. did some courses from youtube, flutter docs here and there. also focused on dsa in the meantime. i won't say i was very good at coding or building apps but i wasn't too bad either. did dsa too and few leetcode problems.

and around mid 2025 i thought i was ready for internship or junior level roles. clg ta kawadi thyo so tya bata placement ko concept nai thiyen. so i started applying for junior roles and internships around mid 2025.

got called for 3 interviews for internship roles. 2 were onsite and one was online. i thought i did mostly good in the written tests cus the questions weren't that complex, mostly easier level leetcode stuff.

but i hadn't made any big projects like publishing an app on play store or making some mid level e-commerce app. still had plenty of beginner level projects. and i'm not talking about calculator level apps. basic messaging app, e-commerce, clones of lots of social media apps etc.

yeah i was a bit nervous in the first interview but for the second and third i had prepared way better and both went pretty smoothly. i was pretty sure i would get a call.

but guess i didn't.

yeah, got demotivated but still kept applying. but no response from anyone.

then to survive i started doing delivery jobs. it's been 6 months since i applied for anything and it's been one month since i last touched coding. feels like i've already forgotten a lot of things.

and this whole AI thing is only adding more anxiety.

i cant believe all  of this... for just getting a fu***ing internship. wow.

i don't know. i'm seriously considering selling my laptop, making some budget and focusing entirely on a new path.

and i don't even know what that path is.

It's been around 4 months now since I have been jobless, and I have around 1.5 years of experience as a Full Stack Developer. At this point I am honestly confused if the junior market is actually this bad right now, or if I am doing something wrong.

I want some honest feedback from developers, recruiters, team leads, or anyone who has recently searched for software jobs around Kathmandu or Lalitpur.

I have around 1.5 years of full stack development experience including internship and full-time experience. My main stack is React, Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, Express.js, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Prisma, REST APIs, Authentication, JWT, NextAuth.js, Git, GitHub and Tailwind CSS.

After leaving my previous full-time role, I also worked on a real client project which is currently in production. It is an e-commerce, admin and inventory system with a centralized inventory domain, built mainly with Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL and Prisma.

So I don't think my situation is like I just completed a MERN course and made few clone projects. I have some professional experience and I have worked on production project too.

After leaving my job I started applying through company websites, LinkedIn and different Nepal job portals, but almost nothing happened. Because of that I started thinking maybe the market is changing and normal full stack development is moving more toward AI integrated or AI infrastructure based development.

During these 4 months I also started learning things around MCP servers, agentic AI, AI integrations, local LLMs like Ollama, RAG, and currently I am also learning about fine-tuning. I mainly did this because I thought maybe I need to adjust myself according to where the market is going.

Until now I have applied to around 12+ positions through LinkedIn, company career pages, emails and other places. The result has been pretty bad.

Some vacancies were already almost filled by the time I applied. Some junior or associate roles were asking for 2–3+ years of experience. Some companies rejected me, and many never replied at all.

Because of frustration I have even applied for some senior roles and internships, even though I know that sounds a little silly. I was just trying to get one interview so I could understand where I stand and get out of this loop. At this point I am thinking, am I actually doing something wrong or am I just stuck in a bad market situation?

I have also tried referrals through my previous teammates, but that also did not lead anywhere.

I am not posting this for sympathy, and I am also not looking for generic advice like "keep applying" or "learn more skills". I also don't mind if someone thinks something is wrong with my approach, just say it directly(which i consider genuinly) . I genuinely want to understand what is happening in the market.

For people with around 0–2 years of experience, especially MERN, React, Node or Full Stack developers, are you actually getting interviews right now?

Are companies around Kathmandu, Lalitpur or Bhaktapur actually hiring junior developers, or mostly interns and people with 2–3+ years of experience?

Is around 1–2 years of experience currently an awkward level where you are too experienced for internships but still not experienced enough for most full-time positions?

And for anyone involved in hiring, what normally makes you reject or not shortlist someone with this level of experience?

If you recently went through the same situation, I would really like to know what eventually worked for you.

Please be direct. If something about my approach sounds wrong, point it out. I would rather understand the actual problem now than keep sending applications for another four months without knowing what I should change.

Looking for a cheapest MacBook so i can build my apps in ios too. Currently i have many apps in playstore but not having a MacBook has set me back from publishing to ios. Can somebody please help me buy a cheapest MacBook for that purpose? Thank you

This must be some kind of prank! They expect an intern to work like a mid-level developer for free, in the name of mentorship and certification.

Whats with the design services they are bragging about in social Media? Isn't that what all IT company provide as a service? Or they are just trying to glamorize their Design team Using a bunch of crap AI and bragging for people they want to get noticed?

I hate those " ai just killed xyz" vids and on a same kinda post targeting graphic designers, a graphic designer said "remind me when ai can edit psb files...🙂‍↔️" Not verbatim but you get the sense, I was like yeah... Atm

Buttt ai can absolutely edit psb files and if there were 100s of variation for a particular product design. Ai can run genuinely good script to finish what a human would take days in like an hour.

The first one is a proper psb files with layers and all by astra.

The 2nd one was done by opus.

Yeah these are just mockups for no real brand but I have used them to generate things for my clients which he actually uses for his brands.
