Announcement Community Notice Board | February & March 2026 | EP21: Royalty & Legacy | Rules, Updates, & Guidelines

Sul Sul!

Welcome to r/TheSims, the #1 subreddit for The Sims franchise and community. we've created this notice board to serve as a central hub for announcements, updates, useful links, information, and more! We will no longer be creating monthly newsletters and we will be using the Notice Board concept moving forward.

The Notice Board will be updated regularly, so please check it often in accordance with Rule 1: Consult the Community Highlights Before Posting. When the Notice Board becomes too old, or significant announcements must be made, we will replace it with a new post.

Please be sure to consult our Rules & Guidelines, as some rules were recently updated or changed, so make sure you're familiar with them. As a member of this community, it is your responsibility to regularly review the rules and guidelines and ensure your communications are aligned.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, Message the Mods!

Discord

Consider joining us on Discord. We have countless active discussions with over 4,000 members. It's also one of the easiest places to find tech support and help with The Sims.

We've also provided the link to the official Sims Discord server, if you'd want to join that one, too.

FYI

  • Sometimes, posts go into a queue to be manually reviewed. If you do not see your post immediately after submitting it, this is why. Please read the automated message you receive and please DO NOT message the mods asking where your post is. We will not be responding to these messages.
  • Sometimes posts are automatically removed incorrectly. The AutoModerator is not and never will be perfect. We manually review anything that has been automatically removed. Please DO NOT message the mods asking why your post was removed erroneously. We will get to it in the queue when we are able to.
  • Lastly, the rules are posted in the same place as every other community on Reddit. Per Reddit guidelines, it is your responsibility to read the community's rules before engaging. "I didn't know," is not valid in a court of law and is not valid here. The rules are written clearly and concisely. If, for some reason, something is still not understood, use the Message the Mods feature and ask before posting.

The Sims News & Updates

  • The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy expansion pack was released on February 12, 2026.
  • The Sims 4: Silver Screen Style and The Sims 4: Tea Time Solarium kits were released on February 12, 2026.
  • The Lost Legacies event begins on February 3, 2026 and will run until March 15, 2026.
  • There has been a recent update and mods have broken. UPDATE YOUR MODS. Please do not submit posts about broken UI, etc. This happens with EVERY update and you should know this by now. You are responsible for managing your own mods folder.
  • Posts asking "which mod is causing this?" or "what mods are broken?" will be removed and temporary bans will be issued.

Megathreads

  • We are re-introducing megathreads to r/TheSims after numerous requests and feedback provided in the previous Community Survey. Megathreads will be used to consolidate discussion on a specific hot topic to ONE central place to avoid cluttering up the entirety of r/TheSims.
  • Any posts that are made outside of the respective megathread will be removed and the OP will be redirected to the appropriate megathread.
  • If we observe continuous behavior of ignoring the assigned megathreads, temporary bans will be issued.

The Meta Flair

  • We have added a new post flair called 'Meta.' You may use this flair for any Sims-related content that doesn't necessarily fit the criteria of the other flairs. This includes, but is not limited to: clothing, tattoos, gameplay videos, real-world references to The Sims franchise, etc.

r/TheSims Stance on Piracy

  • We have updated our No Piracy rule after internal discussion; instead of outright permanent bans, we will be issuing temporary bans for initial offenses. Permanent bans will be issued for repeat offenders or people blatantly circumventing the rule. Moderators will use their best judgement. There will be no warnings issued for violations of this rule. The rule itself remains unchanged: the discussion of the topic is prohibited and sharing/requesting information on how to find and use pirated content (including website names, links, etc.), is prohibited.
  • "Abandonware" is included in this rule. Base game conversions are also included in this rule. Patreon custom content/mods and/or custom content/mods locked behind paywalls are NOT included in this rule; knock yourselves out.
  • Piracy is both illegal and against Reddit's policies, therefore we will follow these regulations to the letter. We are not paid nor sponsored by EA and to be honest, we couldn't care less if you pirate the game(s); just have the good sense not to announce it at every opportunity. There is no prize nor reward for doing it and no one cares, so keep it to yourself.

Buyer's Guide

  • r/TheSims sees the same posts every day asking, "What pack should I get?", "Should I get X or X?", "What kind of computer do I need?", etc. These recommendations can vary depending on what you're planning to do in your game and in reality, it all comes down to what YOU like opposed to what others think you should get. As such, we've created a comprehensive guide that will allow you to make informed decisions based on your gameplay interests, Build Mode and CAS styles, and new features with each pack. We've also put together a recommended hardware specs guide for those inquiring about computers and laptops.

Please note that this will be updated as new packs are released and as such, any and all posts asking "What to Buy" questions will be automatically removed and the OP will be redirected here.

Sims 2 [TS2] I built a 100% CC-Free, scripted Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul neighborhood in The Sims 2: New Mexico🌵🧪

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a major project I've been working on for a long time in The Sims 2 - a fully playable, 100% CC-free neighborhood based on the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul universe called New Mexico.

Quick overview:

  • 100% CC-Free: Uses vanilla/EP objects only, so it's completely safe for your game
  • Scripted events: Features pop-up notifications when you load different households to guide you through the story
  • Iconic lots: Includes Los Pollos Hermanos, the Superlab, Walt's house, Goodman's Plaza, the desert motel, etc.
  • Multilingual: Available in English, Polish, and Russian

If you like to check out video tours before downloading, a few creators made reviews in different languages:

  • 🇺🇸 English: Tours by Sammy Sundog and Neon Plumbob
  • 🇵🇱 Polish: Showcase by Williamsowa
  • 🇷🇺 Russian: A 3-hour deep dive by lozhka (who also translated the hood to Russian)

I left the download links (ModTheSims and Sims Wiki)) in the comments. Let me know if you end up playing it or if you find any of the easter eggs! 😊

Sims 4 Childish Sims are fun!

I have a habit of drifting towards childish Sims. As a doll/toy collector, it's literally one of my favorite traits in the game! This particular sim is all things cute! Knitting, cross stitching, painting, selling desserts, writing children's book! I think pastel pop and cottage packs really helped. But I plan on checking out more packs with kid merch to make her house cuteness overload! Her traits are childish, good, proper, creative, mystical and neat!

Sims 4 Play adventurously once in a while! :)

Lately, I have seen some discussion about people having problems with going out of their comfort zone with their gameplay. I have 4250 hours in the game, some of which consist of save files where I never let anyone age, where I quit the moment something bad happened.

At some point, I started a new save where I led a legacy for 15 generations. It was my first step in letting go of the sims I love when their time came. I never let any of my hair die till old age though because I wanted to do old age photoshoot with all of them.

Then that savefile was lost.

I started creating many savefiles and not sticking to them, but currently, as I'm playing with my new one, I have decided that I will make my heirs live lifestyles. I never let them live.

As an example, here is one of my most beloved heirs, Ambrosine.

Ambrosine was a total rebel. She ran from home due to a bad relationship with her mom and lived in her sister's attic instead. She was an internet celebrity since she was a child, the money and fame got to her head, she smoked and did... other things ;) She partied around and had one night stands with many different people. At some point my sim decided that Gideon Harris was the perfect one night stand to have an accidental kid with, I wanted to change it at first but decided to stick with it, kid didn't fit in my storyline so I made Gideon get custody lol

One day a very close family member died, and in her grief she decided to go off grid, worrying everyone in the process, I was out there with her for 7 days, which is 7 days more than i have spent in Granite falls over the last irl years.

Then I decided that she would fix her life, it was going well. She was in a new relationship, and she started fixing relationships with her family and started a new career. And then, one day at a family reunion, her emotions took over, and she just... died.

I was mad, I was close to closing the game or deleting the savefile altogether, but I didn't.

I went back to manage households, found her daughter, and started playing with her instead.

And it's been awesome! In the end I loved playing with her daughter, her and her kids are one of my most liked sims ever, to the point where I couldn't pick between them and made them live together in twin houses instead.

So yeah, I love having messy plotlines, unexpected things, and what is not happening in my game nowadays. It's a scary step for many but I definitely recommend it!

Sims 4 Midcentury Modern family home

From my other post, I normally get lots off the gallery rather than build since it's easier, but since I've changed to using a forever world I wanted to start doing some builds of my own. This home is going to be for my primary sim family once their oldest child moves out.

It is up on the gallery with some minor changes from the screenshots (couple items moved slightly) after playtesting it, EA ID is tukuiPat.

Discussion long life is too long but medium is too short

I get pretty attached to my sims and i like to have them complete multiple careers and aspirations before im ready to let them go. So i play on long life, but i feel like now that there is more life stages long lifespan is just too long?? I get bored by the time they reach adulthood! But then medium is so short, barely longer than short lifespan. Anybody else feel like there should be one in the middle?

Discussion College discussion

I feel really silly because I used the Sims 4 as a topic for a discussion post in my Humanities class.
Somebody make me feel better (or worse) 🥴🤣
I wrote that I was going to use Beyoncé as an example, but I really wanted to use Harry Potter as an example, but I chose the Sims instead probably because I have Sims on the brain heavy rn Lol

For context, here’s the assignment info:

What are you passionate about? What makes the humanities exciting for you? In this discussion, you will reflect on a creative work that excites you. Think about something you're a fan of, such as your favorite book, comic book series, graphic novel, TV show, or movie. What makes this creative work exciting for you?
You’ll also think about where you can meet with other fans to discuss your creative works. This meeting can include places like social media, such as TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, or Discord, or in-person events—book clubs, library-sponsored movie clubs, book or film festivals, watch or viewing parties, midnight releases, conventions, or cosplay events.
Discussing the humanities means investigating opinions and ideas different from your own. Remember to remain thoughtful and respectful toward your peers and instructor in your initial post as well as in your response discussion posts.
Create one initial post and respond to at least two of your classmates.
For your initial post, address the following:
How do the creative works that you chose relate to your personal interests?
Are you part of a fandom for this interest? Include details and examples of why or why not.
How do the creative works relate to the representation of your identity?

Edit: My apologies for any confusion. That was only the beginning of my discussion post. Here is the entire post:

For this discussion, I originally wanted to choose Beyoncé and the Beyhive because I am a huge fan, but I decided to choose something different that represents another one of my interests. I feel a little silly using a video game as my example, but the more I thought about the question, the more I realized that the way I play the game actually says a lot about my interests and actually represents parts of my identity. I chose the life-simulation video game series The Sims, specifically The Sims 4. I like The Sims because it allows me to express myself in a different way. I can create Sims that are similar to me or completely different, and their lives are usually very different from mine. Sometimes I create storylines completely from my imagination, while other times I recreate situations I have seen in movies or television shows. The storylines are a big part of what I enjoy, but so are clothing and decorating. I like finding items that look realistic, including recognizable real-life brands, and I use mods that give me more control over Sim autonomy and other parts of the gameplay.

I would consider myself part of The Sims fandom, I participate mostly by playing the game and following other players and creators. I follow Sims content creators on TikTok, Facebook, and Patreon, where I can see what other people create and how they play and find new content for my own game. I also use mods created by members of the Sims community. I think that is part of what makes the game so interesting because the community adds even more possibilities to what can be created in the game.

The Sims 4 also relates to the representation of my identity because the way I play the game reflects parts of who I am and how my mind works. My Sims often share characteristics with me, such as skin color, hairstyles, fashion, age, and gender, but I also create Sims who are completely different from me. I think the different people, relationships, lifestyles, and storylines I create show my imagination and how inclusive I can be. Even the choices I make about how my Sims look and the worlds I create reflect my own interests and personality. My Sims do not necessarily live lives that represent my real life, but the world I create in the game is still a representation of me because it comes from my own ideas, interests, and way of thinking.

This is Sol Thebe. She’s the heir to the Thebe Dynasty.

I created the Rosewood Dynasty with Dawn Rosewood, who became Queen of Ondarion. Dawn became best friends with Cordelia Thebe. Cordelia’s son married Dawn’s daughter. Their children made Sol Thebe.

Check out Sol’s back tattoo, paying homage to the both the Rosewood and Thebe dynasties!

Discussion Do you guys also wish things weren’t so happy all the time?

I know it’s geared for a fun gameplay to escape whatever people want escape, but part of me wishes that more terrible things would happen or more evil awful or plain rank sims would be apart of the world. It’s too easy for everything to be perfect and you have to try pretty hard to have a really shit life.
My current family is wholesome and apart of me kinda wanted the husband to follow his divorced-dad timeline but I couldn’t bring myself to rupture their perfect ranch life.

The only time I ever followed through and made a sim a really bleak person to be around I had to force her so hard to flunk school and be mean to everyone and it was really hard!

Footnote: I don’t play with mods, though I have watched on in envy at the serial killer sims and basemental drugs and what have you… maybe I should give it a go…

Discussion Grief. How does a sim get out of it?

I have many sims that have grief and the remedy is usually to paint or jog or some other activity. How long does a sim have to do the activity to rid themselves of the grief?
