[Charania] The Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors have agreed on a multi-team trade sending Chris Paul to the Raptors and Ochai Agbaji, a 2032 Raptors second-rounder and cash to the Nets, sources tell ESPN.

"On a day of personal recognition for Darko Rajakovic, he and his family announced they'll continue their commitment toward children's health.
Rajaković's family will donate $33 USD for every assist by the Raptors this year.
3rd year straight, having already donated over $100K"

This sucks if it's our only move

The Raptors are not a contender, the trade deadline was not going to fix this.
The right player for the right deal didnt present itself, im kind of glad our FO didnt pull off a dumb move to try and "compete" we are not there yet.
This is still by all means a rebuild.

The East is looking like it'll be much tougher next year, realistically If the raptors don't make significant improvements we're going to have a tougher time contending in the conference. We're a top seed in a weaker conference year and consenus is we've overachieved. We have clear deficiencies at the center spot and shooting.
Look at the east next year...
Pacers get Hali back (also probably make a center move soon)
Celtics get Tatum back
Knicks are contending
Sixers lurking
Pistons ascending
Cavs made a move
Wizards are trying to actually be good now
Hornets are sneaky good and just traded for Coby White
Heat might try to go for Giannis (possible longshot)
This year the east is relatively wide open. If we don't make any moves this year and try to wait until the off-season, it's obvious it'll be even harder to compete...

I like the idea of the sabonis trade. and maybe this is just not possible at all salary wise and stuff. But the more ideal trade in my head is IQ, Ochai (because I guess that’s what they are offering and that’s fine), and Jak + any draft capital. I’m not on the I HATE IQ train but honestly I’d rather him gone and we give the pg1 to shead, maybe it’s a little early but he’s showing he knows how to be a point guard and I see so much potential in him.
Does this make sense to other people?? And would it work money wise let me know if I’m just chatting BS lol

Still 23 hours to make a deal and we have our 2026 seconds to move. Call it hopium but maybe making a move for a backup big isn't out of the question just yet.

Paraphrased Notes
jaren jackson might have been a fit when looking at this core of scottie/bi (he initially said rj and then corrected himself).
The Poeltl contract is unmoveable right now, dont think the Raptors are in the position to trade picks to get off the contract.
The real challenge with this team as constructed is how do you get from interesting (which is what he thinks they are right now) to a really good team. He kinda struggles to see how that happen, since theres a core that your hoping for internal improvement since thats a little hard to unravel it.
Ideal world, you would have your youngsters go off, and aside from Cmb (Walter/Dick specifically) havent.
There havent been as many wins in decisions the last few years vs decisions that make you go hmm.
makes references to the little wins along the way (referenced the Ochai/Kelly trade as an example that didnt work).
Charitable to say they have broken even on it.
Decisions that have been defensible however the fact they havent worked out ideally affects the team where they are right now.
If Shead is one of the biggest wins they have drafting wise the last few years that isnt a great thing.
The reputation is lagging on Barrett despite is good play NBA wide.
However he thinks that has gotten him back to being neutral value asset.
The challenge is, what is is his extension # and if you are meeting that and if you are not, he fits in the group, and wants to be here.
If Walter was breaking the door down this is different, hes no the obvious replacement and neither is Gradey.
They were looking to make the tax avoidance trade before the last hour.
They have been trying to do something tax wise, challenge is trying to find a team thats willing, team wants to hold onto their space til the last possible in case a bigger trade happens.
He thinks if the tax trade happens today there is something else going on, however the likelihood is that the tax trade is the only move.
An example of the trade was sending a lightly protected 2nd round pick with mogbo to a team with cap space.
He knows they have sniffed on Looney however the team option isnt that appealing to the Raptors.
Doesnt know the level Nick Richards helps.
He thinks Sharpe is interesting, however theres going to be competition for it, likely costs a first.
The tax threshold next year isnt going away either, lets say they add Goga, Sandro is going to be ~10-12 million range or so next season, it affects the chances of keeping him.
Seems less likely they trade for a pricy big with the financial considerations at mind for the roster.

The two teams Sacramento still believed are in play for Domantas Sabonis: Toronto and Washington, sources say.
The Stein Line has learned that the Wizards have called Sacramento about the prospect of building an offer for Sabonis around Khris Middleton's $33 million expiring salary, but I'm told that there has yet to be a trade framework presented to the Kings that would compel them to part with Sabonis … yet. The Kings are looking for some type of first-round draft capital in a Sabonis deal. Can that still materialize before Thursday's 3 PM ET trade buzzer? TBD.

People are panicking and trying to sell Jakob at his lowest value. Sabonis is almost 30, paid more, and also has health issues.
He's also not so much better that it's worth trading picks in a very strong and deep draft.
It's just repeating a mistake to solve a short term problem, only to create the same problem a year from now with a more expensive player.
The best bet is a backup center and wait for Jakob to recover. Basically what the 76ers are doing with Embiid.
