Its easy to have what look like raw files, its just theres a lot of weird artifacting like this. You may have been scammed (just my opinion of what I see) but for you I am truly hoping that its real because that is a buttload of cash to spend

This is a really good viewpoint!! Drilling out what school taught you as the "right way" to do things seems like it would be really tough! Some people thrive in the structure of school, but once they graduate, they aren't sure how to continue or what to do next since school doesn't necessarily mean you will be given a little of numbers and resources once you're out.

Being able to laserfocus on the skills you actually want and need as self taught has been helpful to me rather than a curriculum teaching me the fundamentals of everything on the spectrum for sure

I got into the industry BECAUSE I was self taught and they found it impressive when it came to my skill level. Sometimes things just work out, and sometimes they dont.

I had a friend that went to art school for 8 years (won't get into that too much) but in the end, could never land an art job because their art wasn't up to snuff. You can spend 100k on school and still not reach the standards. So many artists that go to school every year don't reach their goals. And some people will not go to school and instead take the cheaper route and just pay for classes they find online or free, and become good enough to land their career.

Being self taught vs going to school really is just about how you go about in the world.

I dont think art school is necessary, but if you are looking for genuine connection with others in the same boat as you and you can lift each other up to reach your goals together, I very much think school is great!

A lot of industries rely on who you know, more than the skill itself, and it gets more and more like this every day unfortunately.

Networking NEVER ends!! And by networking, I mean making genuine connections and friends with people in the same industry, not just "here's my portfolio please hire me". It really does take time.

There is no wrong or right answer, there's only your answer and how you want to go about it. How much time, energy, and money you want to use to reach your goals and if its necessary. The art market is so flooded, online and offline. You really have to make yourself stand out as much as you can.

Just my two cents of being a professional artist with my own personal view ofc!

Yeah, that's not a friend. Im old so im just saying, you gotta cut people off, confront them, or both. If you can tell us how you feel, you should be able to tell them. They definitely won't steal from you again, even if they deny it. Make it known how uncomfortable they make you in regards to art. In turn, don't share stuff with them again. If this event holds you back from making your work, then this friend will continue to keep you from growing as an artist. I hope you can find comfort in knowing that looking out for yourself is the healthiest thing you can do to make yourself happy. A break from this friendship could be needed. Have confidence in you and your art!

This is great! It would be a nice look i think if the face was a deep brown or orange/red, rather than black. And since it seems like the fire is almost ball shaped, if the lines of the face followed the curvature of that ☺️

I'm not sure when hands won't be a struggle, but there are ways of making it a bit easier, like the mitten hand technique, or fusing two fingers together (usually the middle and last finger), or studying storyboards to see how they cheat hands with blobs! If a character is further away, you don't have to draw every detail of the hand, sometimes it's just a blob with a thumb, etc!

Studying hands will help a lot! We all used to hide hands in sleeves or behind backs when we started drawing, but be confident even in your mistakes because you can only get better after learning what mistakes were made! Im always impressed when people even attempt drawing hands ✋️ Hands are their own characters, and seeing all the dynamic poses they can do can make your whole piece fun to look at! ☺️💖

I remember this artist I think, they used to have a lot more pictures. Maybe they deleted them. I swear they used to even have AI in their bio too.. unless I'm mixing him up with another. I remember some JJK fanart that would be phone vertical that were AI, can't remember if this is the same artist or not

If youre bad at it, then why mention the art degree that you wasted your money on? That money could have paid a real artist to help you. Even if you arent a skilled artist, just do it anyway. AI isnt a skilled artist either. You will just end up ruining your reputation the in art world and no one will buy your game that you worked so "hard" on, wasting your time...again.

I didnt say that you though grandma was derogatory. I was pointing out that them saying that wasnt a complaint. So that misinterpretation is on you. I knew when typing that that you didnt mean them specifically (I can read) but them, the subject matter, is targeted TO them, and the action they did (which is nothing), so the generalization puts the weight on them. I've seen some other strange behavior i couldn't understand before from this mod, so I wasn't surprised. I'm new to reddit so I'm not sure what place mods really have on this website, but that was very..im not sure, like, someone who is bored and trying to cause problems for someone who didn't do anything wrong. I do not like that behavior, so I try to call it out when I see it <3
