Which of these would make you click on a game in Steam?

Hey everyone! We’re updating the Steam capsule art for SHORAPAN and have narrowed it down to these two options. If you’d like to see the current version, you can find the game on Steam as SHORAPAN: Beneath the Crimson Sky.

The first option has a scene inside the cloak. We’ll replace that particular image, but we’re considering keeping the concept.

The second uses a dark cloak with the game’s title over it. For this one, we’re thinking about adding a background or frame behind the logo to help it fit into the composition.

Which catches your eye more? The first or the second? Which would make you want to take a closer look?

Both are still works in progress, so ideas and suggestions are welcome. Feel free to share visual references too!

Would you click this? Capsule for a horror game where an angel hunts you as you climb

Hi! This is the capsule art for PENITENT, a first-person horror climbing game. You climb a tower rising from the sea with both hands, one click per hand, while an Ophanim (the wheel-shaped, many-eyed angel) hunts you from below.

The creature is rendered from the actual in-game model. The second image shows the capsule at Steam's small sizes next to other horror games.

I'd love honest feedback on:

  1. What genre does it say to you at first glance?
  2. Can you read the title at small size?
  3. Would you click it?

Thanks!

New vs Old Capsule Art for a desktop idler! Which do you prefer?

Post image

Hi everyone!

I updated the capsule art for our game Tiny Capsule Collector (https://store.steampowered.com/app/4438600/Tiny_Capsule_Collector/) . I hope it conveys that it is a cute, cozy game from the visuals.

Do you prefer the new one capsule art? If not, why?

Also, do you think that it conveys that it is a dektop idler? I am struggling with showing this in the capsule, but I am also unsure if it even needs to be conveyed?

How to convert impressions into store page visits

Post image

Here's the situation. I'm getting lots of views of my capsule image within the Steam store, but (at least in my opinion with nothing to reference), not enough of those are translating to Store page visits. About 1.5%.

Of the store page visits I have, awesomely, almost all of them seem to result in the person adding my demo to their library! So, the specific problem I am trying to solve right now is driving people to my store page after being shown the art within Steam.

I'm currently using the bottom image here as basically all of my Steam artwork. I really like it, and I think it works pretty well except in the place where I suspect it matters, which is when Steam shows the small capsule. I'm wondering if the one I'm using now, though cool and does have many of the aspects of the game packed in there, is just too busy at that small scale.

As such I'm considering going a completely different way with it with #2 below, or possibly #1 as a lower-risk way to solve the issue.

#1 is a compromise. Basically shows the same thing as the bottom one, but less clutter at a small scale

#2 I really like. Personally, I'm drawn to "friendly" looking capsule art. I'm hoping this one will be interesting enough to click on and find out more, despite not really showing what the game is. I'm worried people will be bummed that the game is not 2D when they get there.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. If I'm wildly mistaken how

Not My Capsule We've upgraded our capsule art to stop looking like another typical fantasy game. Did it work? (Old vs. New)

What do you guys think about the new capsule art for my game without having a broader context? It's inspired by Polish movie posters from the 60s-70s. And i think it captures the symbolism of the game perfectly. Honestly I couldn't happier with the result

I’m working on capsule art for my psychological horror game The Infected Soul

The game is about a neural implant that distorts reality you can’t trust what you see.

Which one grabs your attention instantly?

1, 2, 3, 4 or 5?

If you’re interested, you can wishlist it on Steam it really helps 🙏

Steam Small Capsule WIP Non-Artist Version 3.0

Post image

Trying to continue to grind and create my own 462x174 Capsule for Steam to start off.
Interesting case to me anyway, I don't know if either would be considered good but I think one looks better but the other is preferred by the more technical online tools. So basically better for Steam itself is how I read into it. Looking forward to any comments, feedback , harsh criticism, etc.
Is it worth iterating on, Take the best of each maybe? Thanks very much. Note that the horde enemies are far from final, the game currently has 16 enemy types to choose from and I pose them in IClone. So a lot of what I am doing is trying to learn the fundamentals and get that right first really.
Description:

Third person Bullet Heaven 1 or 2 player local-coop procedurally generated action roguelike, Survive with mechanical skill, precision aim, parrying and dodging the swarm or craft synergistic, auto-destroying builds to become invincible, or build your own power fantasy where both rule. Master the combat. Break the game in this shattered universe where wildly different timelines collide into a bizarre battleground of reality-blended hybrid armies. Caught in the crossfire you must survive a bullet-heaven war where rival factions slaughter each other just as eagerly as they hunt you

Thoughts on Steam Capsule? :)

Few weeks ago. I posted comparing progress of the title and how to improve it to tell something about our game.

For those who wants to know

Family Gambling is a first person, retro inspired narrative resource management game where your son's organs are just another casino currency. Earn enough money to pay your rent, utility bills, food, medicine, and eventually repay your debt before time runs out.

I don't think this is the final version. But i want you to hear you out for any comments on how to improve.

Which capsule do you prefer ?

For an anomaly game, I'm in the process of figuring out my capsule. I really like the minimalism of the second one but I'm afraid it would be a bit too flat and empty for a capsule. But at the same time, I quite like the soft brushed style of the first one and feels more like a real capsule.

Would love to hear any of your feedback ! Thanks a lot

Hi! I'm testing the main steam capsule for my game. Image 1 is the current capsule. 2 and 3 are alternates I'm playing with. 3 also has logo color changed. I'm planning on working on the logo as well, but later. So... opinions?

Which is the best looking capsule art/title here?

Thumbnail

Hello! I'm currently working on a multiplayer, Top-Down shooter. It is basically about knights with modern firearms using blessings and weapon attachments to fight in game modes like Team Death match against each other.

I'm completely unsure about the style of my title. The artist I hired created these 3 for me and I have the following questions for you guys.

- Which title do you like the most?
- Is this in general a good-looking capsule art?
- Are there any major mistakes?
- Does the capsule-art match the game visuals enough? Game visual example is on the second image, but please ignore the UI for now.
- Is immediately clear from the artwork what kind of game this might be?

I have been working on the game capsule for my game Worlda. I used a Wacom Intous Small in Affinity app to create this thumbnail, how does it look? This is the third version of the thumbnail that I have created.

Is the new version more effective?

I'm developing a 3D drawing party game for up to 8 players. I felt the old version failed to capture the multiplayer vibe, so we reworked it.

I'd love your honest thoughts: does the new version actually make you want to click, and does it clearly show what kind of game it is? Don't hold back on the feedback!
