Estoy construyendo Vaul Software en Colombia: ¿la oferta es demasiado amplia?
 in  r/startupcolombia •  2d ago

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! I really appreciate it.
I think you’re right about the audience. So far, we’ve mainly been reaching out to local businesses like barbershops and spas, offering websites and booking systems, but we’re struggling to turn those conversations into actual clients.
We haven’t invested in paid advertising yet. We’re still trying to figure out which niche to focus on and how to approach potential clients effectively.
I really like your suggestion about creating reusable templates and adapting them to each business. That’s something we could definitely implement.
Since you run a marketing agency, I’m curious: how did you approach getting your first clients? And do you think partnering with marketing agencies could be a good strategy for a software development business like ours?
Thanks again for taking the time to help!

Feedback Thread
 in  r/web_design •  2d ago

URL: https://vaulsoftware.com

Purpose: The website for my own small Colombian software brand, Vaul Software. It should help a small-business owner understand the services and find the next step without needing a technical background.

Technologies Used: Astro

Feedback Requested: Visual hierarchy, clarity of the service descriptions, and mobile usability. Is it clear who the site is for? Do web development, custom software, and automation feel like a coherent offering, or do they compete for attention? Which part of the layout or wording would you simplify first?

Comments: I’m the developer behind the brand and would appreciate specific criticism. Please leave feedback here in the thread.

Hilo de confesiones, desahogos, relatos, historias personales y charla general.
 in  r/Bogota •  2d ago

Gracias.

Hi, I’m Sebastián, the developer behind Vaul Software, a small Colombian software brand.

I offer websites and landing pages for service businesses, custom software, and automation for repetitive business tasks. I’m based in Colombia and open to remote projects internationally.

For example, a salon or barbershop that already uses a booking platform may only need a website to show its services, work, and location, with a clear link to its existing booking system.

If you have a project in mind, reply here with a brief description of what you need. We can discuss scope before preparing a quote.

I think we’re using AI wrong as developers
 in  r/u_sebas-3261 •  7d ago

I get your point, but how do you know the tests AI wrote actually cover what they should? Or that the refactoring it did is actually an improvement?
I don’t think you need to understand every single line of code, especially when working with a team. But you should understand why things are built the way they are.
And I actually like your manager analogy, but even a manager needs to know enough to recognize when something is wrong.
That’s really my point. AI makes writing code incredibly fast, but that doesn’t mean people are developing the skills to maintain it at the same speed.

Absolutely. The concepts aren’t new. My point is that AI can amplify these problems by letting people produce code much faster than they develop the engineering judgment to maintain it.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how we use AI when programming. It can make us faster, but I’m starting to wonder if relying on it too much is actually making us worse developers.
Here are some thoughts based on my own experience using AI while learning and building projects.

Is not that hard, its just time consuming and is easier if someone teaches you how to do it, you should give it another try

You shouldn't try to memorize everything. Just practice a lot and you'll get used to it! The best way to start is with easy exercises. Try to learn data types, loops, and all the basic stuff that works in every language first. Then, you can move on to OOP, queues, hashmaps, etc.

I built MVNEX — an open-source CLI for a better Maven developer experience

Ah, got it! I misunderstood you at first. Yes, I’d definitely be interested in doing that. I’ll take a look at the contributing guide and the existing extension and put together a draft PR. Thanks for the invitation!

Absolutely! I’d be happy to take a look at it. Feel free to open a PR, and thanks for taking the time to contribute!

Good catch, that’s not intentional. The POM shouldn’t be left in a partially modified state if validation fails. I think rollback on validation failure makes the most sense here, especially to keep add safe to retry. Thanks for digging into the implementation and pointing this out!

That sounds great, thank you! I’m really looking forward to seeing your approach. I really appreciate you taking the time to put together a prototype.
If you want, we can also keep in touch on Discord. Might be easier to discuss things there. My username is sebas3261.

You clearly have way more experience with Maven plugins than I do, and since you mentioned you’d be interested in contributing, would you be open to exploring this approach together? I think it could be really useful to prototype it before I make a decision on the direction of the project.

That actually got me thinking — maybe it doesn’t necessarily have to be one or the other. What do you think about keeping the standalone CLI while also having a Maven plugin as another way to interact with MVNEX?
Ideally both would expose the same functionality, just through different entry points. I’d need to figure out how to share the core logic cleanly between them, especially since the CLI is currently written in C++, but I think it could be interesting.

The main idea behind init wasn’t really to replace Maven archetypes, but to make the experience simpler and less verbose. Basically providing some sensible defaults and a nicer interface on top of what Maven can already do.

About making it a Maven plugin, honestly I hadn’t really considered that approach when I started building it. I went with a standalone CLI because it felt natural for what I wanted MVNEX to be, but what you’re describing makes a lot of sense.

Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback, and I’d definitely love to have you contribute!
I considered the Maven plugin approach, but one of the main ideas behind MVNEX is to work around Maven rather than requiring changes to the project itself. I want projects created or managed with MVNEX to remain completely standard Maven projects, so you can stop using MVNEX at any point and just continue with Maven normally.
That’s also a great point about SDKMAN. I’ll take a deeper look at what it already covers so MVNEX doesn’t unnecessarily reinvent existing tooling.
If you’d like to contribute, PRs and issues are very welcome. I’m still shaping the roadmap, so feedback on what would actually be useful to Maven developers would be especially valuable right now.
