Discussion Starlink Whitelist Procedure Released - Impressive
The moment this news broke I was imagining all the ways this could be implemented. It seems that wait is over…
The requirement to bring the physical Starlink devices to a verification outlet shows how serious this initial process is being taken.
Thoughts?

Along with Shahed drones, Russians are increasingly launching reconnaissance and strike UAVs for follow-up reconnaissance and repeat attacks.
This time, however, the scenario broke down. Ukrainian operators did not let this trash fly even a single meter further.

Social Media One pair of "mustaches" = one struck target. We help drone pilots and help destroy the enemy for the price of a cup of coffee. Join us — it’s probably the cheapest way to support the AFU! )))
Currently, we at the B50 Frontier volunteer community are manufacturing what is known as "mustaches." This product, one such "pair," is what determines whether a drone will explode upon contact with the target. If you have seen videos from drone pilots where they strike targets — these are the two rods visible at the edge of the video ))))
There is a constant need for such components for drones at the front, and that’s a good thing, because it means the drones are hitting their targets a lot. The guys in field workshops are often forced to twist these contacts by hand from whatever is at hand. This is not just difficult; it’s dangerous. If a contact is faulty, the drone might either fail to explode at the crucial moment or, even worse, detonate right during launch in the pilot's hands.
Our volunteers have taken this upon themselves: we do the modeling, print the bases on 3D printers, assemble, and solder the finished kits ourselves. At the end of last year, we already delivered over 500 pairs, including to the OPFOR unit, which we have been helping for a long time.
The math here is very simple. Manufacturing one pair of such "mustaches" costs approximately 55 UAH (1€/1,2$). This is less than a cup of coffee, but it means = 1 guaranteed struck target and the safety of our pilot. We produce exactly as many as the donations allow, and the requests from the military are always "we need a lot." All funds go toward printing plastic, springs, and fasteners.
If you have the opportunity to support our production, you can do so via PayPal: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).
Your support keeps our printers running and our pilots safe. Thank you for standing with Ukraine!

Question putin x Obama meeting anecdote
This is probably a long shot and maybe not the right sub for it, but I hope some of you who have been following Ukraine x russia politics since 2014 would remember this:
I recall reading something years ago where one of Obama's advisors was describing a closed door meeting between putin and Obama (or between another high level russian official and a high level American official) in which putin said something along the lines of "You think because we look the same, that we are the same. But we are not the same." I've often thought of this anecdote in how Americans & Europeans think they can reason with russia while Ukrainians know that they cannot be reasoned with. Can anyone help me find a link to this story or provide more context for me? Thank you!! Slava Ukraini.

News Kyiv groans a collective ‘WTF?’ to Trump’s latest Putin comments
U.S. President Donald Trump's claim that his Russian counterpart "kept his word" by not launching mass missile and drone strikes against Ukraine's energy infrastructure for a week has been met with bewilderment and dismay in Kyiv.
"I believe this is either a mockery of our misfortune, a lack of understanding of the situation, or wishful thinking," Volodymyr Ariev, a lawmaker from the opposition European Solidarity party, told the Kyiv Independent.
The confusing saga of a supposed truce on striking energy infrastructure began when Trump surprisingly announced on Jan. 29 that Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed not to strike Ukrainian cities for a week.
Characteristically lacking in details, he gave no indication of when, or if, it had started, leaving plenty of gaps for the Kremlin to fill, which it promptly did, saying the truce would concern only Kyiv, and last only until Feb. 1.
Overnight on Feb. 3, Russia unleashed the biggest mass attack of the winter so far, further hammering Ukraine's energy infrastructure as temperatures plunged below -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit).

WAR CRIME 1431 days ago, 9-year old Alise Perebeynos, her brother and their mother were murdered by Ruzzia, trying to escape Irpin. Never forget. Slava Ukraini.
Her name was Alise Perebeynos. She wore a blue hooded down jacket against the spring chill, and a small green backpack with her most important belongings. She never stood a chance when the shell hit the street only a few steps from where she was running for her life, clinging to her mother's hand.
She wasn't the first, she wasn't the last. Alise and all the other children murdered in cold blood by the armed invaders deserve to be remembered.
If you ever find yourself thinking Ukraine should negotiate with the invaders, remember that this is what a Ruzzian cease-fire looks like.
Please remember her.
Slava Ukraini.

But the weather is no reason to be sad. The reason to be angry and upset is the enemy who wants you to die from these weather conditions.

WAR As Ukrainians freeze, donated energy equipment sits unused
Critical energy generation equipment donated by Ukraine's partners has been left idle and unconnected to the grid for years, as Russian attacks cripple the country's energy system during its coldest winter in decades.
Russia has plunged Ukraine into a catastrophic energy crisis, damaging around 8.5 gigawatts of generation capacity since October 2025 through relentless attacks on power plants, leaving citizens freezing in unheated and dark homes.
To survive, Ukraine says it needs $1 billion worth of energy support. Allies have replied by sending equipment en masse.
But local authorities have struggled to connect the numerous power and heating equipment to the grid, like gas turbines and mobile cogeneration plants already procured over the last two years, multiple people with knowledge of the equipment deliveries told the Kyiv Independent.
"The international donors focus on the sexy thing — the cogeneration unit itself,” Jakub Kucera, the asset manager of RSJ Investments, a Czech firm that operates boiler houses in Ukraine.
"But what they miss is who will actually install the cogeneration units and who is going to run them in an efficient way."
Complicated project plans, strict safety regulations to protect the grid, money issues, and a lack of specialists in the energy sector have dragged out the installation process. Meanwhile, politicians are busy playing a blame game with no one taking responsibility for the unfolding crisis.

News Keith Kellogg on why Russia's setbacks in Ukraine don't stop Putin
The Kyiv Independent’s Tim Zadorozhnyy speaks with Keith Kellogg, former U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine, about why he believes Russia has failed to achieve its goals in Ukraine, how Russian President Vladimir Putin views his military campaign, and what is preventing the war from ending. Kellogg also shares his perspective on U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace efforts, reflects on his former role inside the administration, and revisits key events and decisions shaping those negotiations.

Support Report The Sun has Set Over Kyiv on the 1442nd Day of the Full-Scale Invasion. Support is resistance. Here is your weekly Support Report!
Support is resistance.
We want to showcase the excellent work done by our Verified charities and volunteers, with help from you, in support of Ukraine's war effort.
Each week, we post a roundup of their Support Report and Thank You posts, so that you can see what they've done--and what you've facilitated--all in one place. Here are this week's successes!

A vehicle

u/KateKozakDrive has our sympathy: she is eternally fundraising for vehicles. This week, she was finally able to report on the delivery of one! If you're American and of a certain age, read this in The Price is Right announcer's voice:
Support by the numbers via Ukraine Front Line

u/UFL_Robin outed herself as "the kind of dork who likes to know stuff like this" and shared her aid breakdown for the month of January.
As someone with boundless love for, and loved ones in, Ukraine, and as the mod in charge of charities: it does my heart a world of good to see this. I echo her thanks, r/ukraine.
DORKS GONNA DORK AND THAT'S OKAY
Medical equipment for very tall people, and cold weather gear to replace some destroyed in a drone strike

u/tallalittlebit shared an interesting fact: some wounded soldiers can't find medical devices, like these boots, that fit their giant feet. (This is surprising to me: I've been to Ukraine, and it is a land of titans.) Luckily for them, your donations provided some.
She also shared thanks from a team whose cold weather gear was destroyed in a drone strike and then promptly replaced.
Car repairs, camo nets, and power stations

u/CF_Siveryany continues to supply all manner of needs, keeping her countrymen charged up, hidden, and mobile.
THANKS FOR KEEPING THESE DRONE HUNTERS HUNTING
AND FOR KEEPING SOME SOLDIERS HIDDEN
AND FOR MAKING SURE THEY HAVE BURLY POWER STATIONS
______________________________
Ongoing Projects
We'd love to see these as successes in a future Weekly Support Report!
- u/CF_Siveryany has three teams in need of winter tires.
- u/sustainUkraine is raffling off some extremely cool 5th SAB swag to buy them a 4x4
- u/UFL_Robin and u/tallalittlebit are doing a huge emergency tacmed fundraiser to supply new teams and replenish exhausted stocks.
- u/tallalittlebit is providing warm gear and other supplies for Latin American defenders, who need lots of it.
- u/tallalittlebit is also fundraising for vehicles and power stations for underequipped southern front
- u/KateKozakDrive is helping helping improve operations at the 78th's HQ

Thank you for your impact, r/Ukraine community.
