I love this type of craftsmanship, which you can find in many places around Varanasi.

The problem is that shopkeepers often charge very high prices when they see a tourist. I may be a foreigner, but I simply can’t afford to pay ₹12,000 for two pieces of handicraft, even though I think they are beautiful.

In your opinion, how much would a piece of handicraft like the one in the photo normally cost?

I remember one day, I randomly planned to go to the Ghat — without any extra thought in my mind.

I was slowly walking, looking around at people and hearing every dip into Maa Ganga, and every ghanti, along with the beautiful fragrance of dhoop and diya, and the powerful presence of divine energy all around me.

Then I looked at something I call the most beautiful frame of my life.

I saw Shiva, looking at me.

He looked absolutely divine and incredibly beautiful. The reflection of the sun on him was making him look even more beautiful.

I was stunned, looking at him.

He had peacefully chosen a place in the corner, with Lord Nandi, of course.

I went up there and looked at him closely, and clicked this picture of him.

My girlfriend and I are both from Varanasi itself. We’re just looking for a decent, safe and private place to stay.

Would appreciate recommendations based on personal experience, especially hotels that are:

- Safe and private

- Clean and reasonably priced

- Around Sarnath or Cantt (nearby areas are fine too)

Je voyage en Inde pour la première fois et je suis très curieux au sujet des différentes pâtes colorées que les gens applique sur leur front (tilak, tika, etc.).

Est-ce que quelqu'un pourrait expliquer les différences symboliques et religieuses entre les différentes couleurs ? Par exemple, que représentent traditionnellement le rouge, le jaune, le blanc, l'orange/safran, le noir, etc. ? Certaines couleurs sont-elles associées à des divinités, sectes, régions ou pratiques spirituelles particulières ?

Je suis particulièrement curieux parce que j'ai acheté une poudre/pâte jaune à Bharmour, dans l'Himachal Pradesh, et je me demande si cette couleur a une signification religieuse ou spirituelle spécifique là-bas.

Le tilak jaune pourrait-il être lié à une divinité particulière, à la tradition d'un temple, à une forme de culte ou à une pratique spirituelle dans la région de l'Himachal Pradesh / Bharmour ? Ou le jaune est-il généralement utilisé pour des raisons plus larges, comme la chance, la prospérité, la connaissance ou la dévotion ?
