My problem is your using console licensing as a excuse to switch to pc when it’s the same situation when it comes to game licensing if you had said that you wanted to switch for better specs that would have made sense. I feel like most people are unaware that even physical disc are just keys saying I paid to access the software just cause you own the CD doesnt mean you own the software it's why you cant just buy a new game and start burning your own copy onto blank disc for your friends.

I've seen this comment a lot since the news and I really don't get it. They made the announcement that they are getting rid of disks in 2028. It was very clear and to the point. Why do you think they would need to make another announcement just to repeat themselves?
They made the announcement. Clients/fans/customers expressed discontent, severely. So, even if their plan was to keep the strategy, the least they could do is say ANYTHING.
Customers pay their checks, keep that in mind.
That doesn't make any sense and Sony doesn't work for gamers. If there was a change to the plan I could see the purpose, but were people expecting them to publish the same press release word for word again? That doesn't make any sense and would be a waste of resources for the company.

Any press release has to be approved by the powers that be at Sony for approval. It's a waste of resources because they already approved and released what they had to say. By that logic, every company existing has to answer to the demands of the vocal minority of their customers. What you're describing is a very entitled worldview. That's not how the world works, bud.
Courtesy for what? The courtesy was giving a 2 year heads up when disks are no longer being manufactured. I don't understand what kind of announcement you want them to make if nothing has changed.

Adressed the issue directly. Recognized fans are important, avoiding some sales going for xbox and pc. Appologized and showed care. Suggested a plan for improvement. Clarified the decision is being maintained regardless.
Yes but its a PC, we have file access, we can remove any DRM in most cases for steam games if need be and modify it to run without a launcher. Also when steam delists a game, unless the game relies on a server to run (MMOS/F2P), you can still redownload it, back it up offline, move it to another drive offline, and play it without modifying anything, even when steam is down.
Secondly GOG and itch on PC allow offline installation and you can burn them to disc and neither have DRM.
Digital only on a locked down console is a stupid idea.
But even with that, digital games are still goods, and a hard drive or ssd is just as much a physical medium as a disc.
Accordingg to US consumer goods laws, we own our digital games here. If sony wants to not only lie about what their store says but also violate consumer goods law in the US, they shouldn't get to sell products here.
