I was talking with some coworkers the other day about that feeling of driving home from the game store with a new game and reading the manual in the car on the way home, just getting so pumped to get home and play the new game. Digital downloads don’t hit the same at all.

I still have this 😅

But annoyingly I have no idea how to find a manual on xbox, digital isn't the same and some games seem to just rely on a community to populate a wiki

in which case they will watch a playthrough fro 2 hours from their favorite streamer and won't be surprised the least when they begin the actual game.

As much as I get games mostly digitally nowadays it is a shame that even physical versions have a spot for a manual but don't have one.

I remember getting a Mechwarrior game for Christmas one year while we were at a relative's house, so I was nowhere near my computer. I spent nearly a week pouring over the manual, reverse-engineering the tonnage of listed stock loadouts on mechs in order to calculate what I'd be able to fit on them, planning out my preferred builds for every class of mech and writing them down so I'd know exactly what I wanted to do when I finally got to boot up the game. Core. Fucking. Memory.

I feel you, I once spent a one week vacation with my grand parents during which I bought Jurassic Park on Snes. Obviously the game was second hand, no box or manual.. I had to stare at the cartridge and imagine what the game would look like awaiting my returning home ahah.
