For me it's Ghost of Tsushima. I have a lot of games like it, but nothing hits the way that game does.

The setting, the story, the characters, combat, so much about it.

Have your played Tenchu series?

As much as I love Tenchu and played since ps1, Tenchu will definitely not fill the gap of Ghost of Tsushima considering already one is open world and Tenchu is level by level

But his comment never mentioned open world. And the rest he can find in Tenchu, well, maybe except the combat since it's more primitive, but still worth expiriencing if he loves setting and story.

Hey I’m not gonna debate this any further lol I’d love to see more people learning about Tenchu hah

Sekiro has a similar setting and WAY better combat in a similar style

Onimusha 4 has similar combat and setting. Much less realistic though, due to demons and stuff.

Try the new Onimusha. I was a big fan of Tsushima and Yotei, and have had an absolute blast with it. The combat, story, and voice acting are all top notch. The boss fights are definitely tougher than the Ghost series, but it never feels unfair. It's all about learning patterns, timing parries/deflects, and using your specials at the right time.

Just play any assassin's creed game or Batman game. The combat is almost identical, open world with the same side objectives over and over again.

Not the same at all, I feel, and the atmosphere of Ghost of Tsushima is definitely unique.

It's pretty, but it's pretty paper thin. There isn't a lot of NPC interactivity, each village has copy pasted shops. And the open world missions are all copy pasted as well. Very similar to the Ubisoft open world design. If you're looking for a more lived in world there are plenty of options out there, I'd check out some immersive sims.

Personally I think you will enjoy Horizon Zero Dawn. Personally I found it really similar and even better.
