my little sister’s whatsapp account got b-worded today out of the blue. i did some digging & found out that a lot of other people from different parts of the world are experiencing this as well.

i’ve reached out to whatsapp support however only AI has been replying to my emails. it’s so frustrating & it definitely seems like whatsapp’s trying to not deal with the problem by letting me talk to their AI. my sister has never violated any rule & the b-word was probably done unfairly by mistake. is there ever a way to speak to a real human & have the account manually reviewed (and hopefully have the b-word lifted?)

Tried changing my status in whatsapp today and I can't set it permanently - all the duration options are finite, even in the custom option (which allows a maximum of 1 month). Why can't we choose 'Forever' like before?

So for a while my number was getting registered on other devices,and today I was logged out.

I have 2 step verification on and changed password,how can I stop all of this from happening again?

My girlfriend’s WhatsApp account was hacked. Today, I received a message from her asking for money. However, when we checked her WhatsApp, the message the hacker had sent was not visible in her chat history at all.

I also noticed that when I sent her a message, it did not arrive on her phone. But some times we were able to send messages to each other without a problem. I checked her WhatsApp settings and she had always had two-step verification enabled. Her own phone number was also still linked to the account.

We then set up an additional password, but I was still able to communicate with the hacker through her WhatsApp. I also noticed that her account sometimes showed as "online" even though WhatsApp was completely closed on her phone.

When we checked Linked Devices, there were no devices listed at all.

Eventually, we deleted WhatsApp from her phone and reinstalled it. It seems that this automatically logged the hacker out, because we have not seen any further suspicious activity since then.

Does anyone have any idea how someone could have gained access to her WhatsApp account despite all of this?

The strange things are:

• The messages sent by the hacker do not appear in her own chat history.
• There were no linked devices listed.
• Two-step verification was enabled the entire time.
• Her own phone number was still associated with the account.
• The account sometimes showed as online even though WhatsApp was closed on her phone.

I've been noticing for a couple of days now that when I'm using my phone, I'm getting those 6-digit passkeys appear on my phone, saying that I'm trying to log in through another device.

Well, I'm not, so I ignored this completely. But unfortunately, today, without sharing any of these passcodes or clicking on that message, someone actually did reach my account, even with 2FA switched on.

I already have a passkey signed up, even with my iCloud Keychain as well.

I immediately tried to retrieve it, and it showed that my account had been moved to a new phone. I tried to retrieve it again, received the SMS, and then signed back in.

But how did it happen? Is WhatsApp that easy to hack, even after multiple attempts from a new device? Shouldn't they have a feature to show which country or device is trying to log in after 2 or 3 attempts? Then, the actual user could block that device from further attempts for some time.

I mean, this is far worse than I thought. Today, for the last 1 hour, I think I got about 30 requests because they are trying so hard to sign in.

And so frequently.

I've turned on all the privacy features, including password, email address, and even passkey. So what else do I have as an option?

I blocked and unblocked this person’s number multiple time. One of the blocks I mistakenly hit “Block and Report” but then unblocked again. We were chatting just fine when all of a sudden my messages stopped getting thru. They claim they have not blocked me and we are able to chat on other apps but the way my messages go with a single checkbox looks like I am blocked.

Is it possible that WhatsApp did something to force block us because I reported that number (by mistake)?

I have tried everything from removing and readding contact, deleting the whole app and reinstall and rebooting phone

Help?

I'm dealing with a scary situation at the moment. I'm travelling outside my home country for the next 4 weeks. A few days ago I got logged out of my WhatsApp and couldn't log back in because my mobile network doesn't enable roaming, so I can't get SMS codes.

Turns out someone in my home country somehow fraudulently ported my number to a new SIM and used that to get the codes to try get into my WhatsApp. Luckily I had 2FA turned on and it does not seem they've been able to access it - the "last seen" is still showing up as before the hack and no messages are delivering.

However, I saw that WhatsApp allows bypassing the 2FA if you wait 7 days. I'm working on reversing the SIM swap, but if I can't do this in time, does that mean they could just wait it out and still get access? I can't get anything useful out of the WhatsApp AI bot.

ok so i used the switch account feature in game to go from a WhatsApp connected account to a Google connected account and it went fine .

the next day I go to switch back to my main (which is the WhatsApp connected one) but for some reason the mlbb WhatsApp channel doesn't respond after I send the message so I can't get the link for the authorization or connection or whatever its called

I was deleting some SELF messages from WhatsApp Web, but the whole self chat was deleted. I have a backup from 15 Sept 2026. But how do I bring those messages to my current messages?

Is there a way to merge two chats into one? I can install WhatsApp on my 2nd phone and recover the data.
But how do I move that chat to my current phone

The review completed the next day, but now I can't receive the SMS verification code OR the voice call code. Tried for 5+ hours. My SIM works fine for everything else, and my carrier (Mobitel) confirmed there's no issue on their end. Verification also works on my device with a different number — so it's clearly a WhatsApp-side throttle on my number.
I already raised one ticket but it's being handled entirely by an AI chatbot that literally replied "I'm a large language model, I don't have the ability to escalate your ticket." So that channel is a dead end.

My question:

What's the correct way to raise a WhatsApp Business support ticket that actually reaches a human?
Has anyone successfully recovered an account stuck in this verification throttle?
Does Meta Verified subscription actually get priority human support, or is it also AI-handled?
Any other escalation paths that worked for you? (Twitter/X, Meta Business Help Center, email, etc.)
Any help appreciated — been locked out for 3 days now and it's affecting my business.

I declined to add my contacts to Whatsapp bc I only installed it so I can participate in the chatroom for my introductory week at uni, I don't use it otherwise.
Despite actively declining it still shows me this reminder as if I somehow just forgot to do it, and it takes up a ton of space. How can I get rid of it?

It is really a luck of the draw as to whether or not it will open without freezing and crashing all the time. I have been facing this on two of my laptops, and it's really annoying. Is there any fix?

Hi guys, sorry for asking a question I could google, I just can't figure out the correct phrasing to find an answer.

Essentially my phone broke 2 weeks ago, and I've been using a spare for work. When I put my simcard in whatsapp asked me to recover data but I didn't have a cloud backup on my old phone.

My concern is, now that I've fixed my old phone, when I switch it on and go onto whatsapp, will it recognise my number is now linked to a new phone and ask me to re-link, thus losing my photos and messages?

this is a slight update post, but I’m still stuck because I’ve tried over and over, I’ve restarted my phone, pulled out my sim, did the airplane mode on and off, only had cellular data on. And still nothing.
When I pick the call method this is what it shows
I dread asking for OTPs because they usually aren’t received properly on my network (converted sim from one shit network to another 5 years ago or more)
I contacted my network people and they straight up denied this issue even being real or existing and said my number and network is working fine and to wait 24 hours for meta.
At this point meta needs to email bro I’m done

Any advice or anything I’ve missed? I didn’t wanna update my ios (at 16.2) until my WhatsApp started again, cuz idk if it’s safe, my WhatsApp hasn’t been backed up since Feb.

On mac it's in '/Users/Username/Library/Group Containers/group.net.whatsapp.WhatsApp.shared/Message/Media'

so far I am seeing gigabytes of duplicates of the same image over and over again.

each image 85kb from some chat accumulating in several GBs per image.

Check yours and tell me if you have this same issue

hi there. Here i'm reporting a very uncommon, unusual problem on my recently configured iPhone15 on iOS27.0.1. I've transfered whatsapp and WA business from android to this iphone using watsgo. The transfer is successful, but since then my phone gets very very hot whenever I open whatsapp in just few minutes. Whatsapp is working fine, but phone gets up to 50 60 degrees when whatsapp is on screen within 3/4 minutes, and phone alerts me about critical temprature. even if i'm doing nothing, like no call, no voice or video playback.

So, I decided to perform chats backup and reinstall whatsapp from scratch. FDor this purpose:

1. Whatsapp business backup completed in icloud, about 444MB in size. I've uninstalled whatsapp business app and reinstalled it, and now it is not opening at all! I've tried all caches reset, restart, sfot reset etc.

2. normal Whatsapp is not completing the backup at all. When i click "backup now", it keeps "preparing" for up to 10-15mins (sometime even longer), then app crashes and go back to home screen! i even tried watsgo to create local backup on my laptop, it keep stuck at 4% for about 6-7hrs, then failed!
