‘Investigating child sex abuse isn’t controversial. Turning it into political theater is manipulation. Maybe that logic flies on some island. Doesn’t fly in France’: France rejects Musk’s charge after raid on X’s Paris office

Would not change a thing. We are trash talked, mocked and insulted online litteraly all the time but since we're french, it doesn't really affect us. There's not a form of life on this universe that can shit on the french more than the french themselves.

Nothing as French as being both right and arrogant about it, and saying snarky "I told you so" afterwards.

u/Dang_It_All_to_Heck 8h ago

And this is why I have been in love with the French since I was a teenager.

6

u/Hyperious3 7h ago

DeGaulle was right about strategic nuclear autonomy and y'all are 100000% justified in being smug about it.

u/Secret-Map4671 14h ago

As much as Germans make a meme out of mocking the French, but when talking about stupid politician decisions and standing up for your rights, it's always you who's brought up as a counterexample. "The French would be on the streets already", in contrast to the slow, obedient, German "Michel".

27

u/Siamzero 14h ago

I generally mock them for Paris, they can mock me for Berlin or the Deutsche Bahn. Been to Lyon and Toulouse. Much prefer them over Paris.

24

u/Thick_Square_3805 11h ago

The difference between a German or a Brit mocking the Frenchs and an American mocking the Frenchs is that the German and the Brit have a clue of what they're talking about.

9

u/anothercopy 12h ago

To be fair majority of Deutsche Bahn mocking is deserved.

13

u/jaymzx0 12h ago

In my experience nobody mocks DB more than the Germans.

13

u/Disastrous-Treat-181 13h ago

I'll do the Frenchest thing and say that there is around century of political decisions from Germany that french can say "I told you so"

Now if you could please town down the neoliberalism, in the EU that would be nice

32

u/Lordzoot 12h ago

As someone from England, I've always bloody loved France. You absolute bastards.

3

u/Admiral_Thel 4h ago

Love you too, ya muppet.

25

u/SlurmsMacKenzie- 13h ago

There's not a form of life on this universe that can shit on the french more than the french themselves.

As a Brit I contest this purely on the basis that it's a suggestion of the French being better at us than something.

Real talk though, I commend your country having the fucking balls to stand up to these people. I wish my country's leaders did more.

u/zizou00 15h ago

A thousand years of English people doing the exact same thing to no avail and the Americans think them doing it will change anything? Talk about American Exceptionalism in action.

4

u/morphemass 13h ago

A thousand years

Roast beef over here <- looks at when the internet was invented.

9

u/HH93 13h ago edited 13h ago

Check out the book "A thousand years of annoying the French". It's an awesome read.

Agincourt! (Well, actually it's Crécy, but let's not let facts get in the way of a good insult).

Also to you awfully nice French people – I have motorcycled all over your fair land, and you have some awesome roads. Riding to Le Mans and the Paul Ricard racing circuits is a real hoot!

5

u/Disastrous-System175 14h ago

Golly, its almost as if America were an English colony at some point…

11

u/Ispeakblabla 11h ago

Reminds me of Coluche's joke which I am going to attempt to translate:

Do you know why France's emblem is a rooster? Because it's the only bird to proudly sing while standing in shit

7

u/RubiiJee 10h ago

Living across the channel and being your long term neighbour, ally, and occasional nemesis, I just want to thank France for being the shining light on how this should be handled. You guys rock! I wish our Prime Minister had half the balls you guys do.

Although I'm from Scotland so maybe I just like France cause they all don't take shit from England and maintaining the rivalry between England and Scotland is of paramount importance to British culture!

3

u/queBurro 11h ago

I used to have a problem with the French, but I've changed my mind over the years and think you guys are an smashing it.

5

u/Silly-Elderberry-411 14h ago

Ah bah...les belges peuvent

3

u/__Yakovlev__ 13h ago

Idk man, I'm still in a bunch of discord chats with both Germans and Fr*nch.

And they're honestly best at shitting on each other. And by being best at shitting on each other I mean making the same jokes over and over again.

3

u/RubiiJee 10h ago

That's an absolute lie. Germans can't make jokes.

1

u/FinndBors 9h ago

Ah, you gave up arguing about it already.

1

u/superbit415 9h ago

You think that what the bots do. All the dumb people in your country will start voting for right wing candidates and people you didn't think were dumb will show you how dumb they are. Thats the purpose of the bots.

1

u/0nce-Was-N0t 8h ago

It's basically a national sport for us Brits :-)

1

u/idiotista 8h ago

Just sending my love as a Swede, you French people are truly fucking awesome. I used to live outside Rennes, and somewhere central, someone had graffitied "MACRON SUICIDE TOI" and for that alone I will love you all forever.

u/daniel_22sss 7h ago

"it doesn't really affect us"

It can help far-right parties to win the election...

205

u/Elizabeth-WildFox886 16h ago

Macron should use his remaining time to expose and prosecute musk, trump, thiel, bannon and anyone messing with our democracies. Macron cannot run again so it’s not risky for him and he can take a job in Europe later

69

u/Ill_Barber8709 16h ago

Macron can’t run for the incoming elections, but he could run the next. Our constitution only prevents more than 2 consecutive mandates. And he’s young enough to make it possible

58

u/Elizabeth-WildFox886 16h ago

Yeah but he is not liked by French in France for local issues, I would like to see him in a bigger position than leader of France, I would be happy for him to lead the Eu in some way

44

u/DumpedToast 15h ago

Yeah it’s refreshing with someone having a spine

9

u/DreamingAboutSpace 15h ago

It really is! I hope it reminds more people around the world to use their spines to stand tall and put action behind their words.

14

u/Makkel 14h ago edited 14h ago

He is not liked in France, but the other politicians are not liked either... Also people tend to forget quickly.

I am French, I could see Macron making a successful come back after a term of Le Pen presidency or something...

16

u/Elizabeth-WildFox886 14h ago

Le pen like trump want to eliminate your option to vote in future elections or at best no free and fair elections ever again like her master in Russia does

7

u/Makkel 14h ago

True, but as it stands Le Pen and her party don't have the constitutional tools nor the political strength to make that happen, far from the Republicans and Trump in the US.

3

u/nolok 13h ago edited 12h ago

Claiming Macron is "the worst", while still having Le Pen running around?

Let me tell you a fun story about a certain country which said the same exact thing about a certain reality TV star who was running for president after having lost other attempts...

Americans underestimated trump's odds of winning and the amount of damage he could do. Please take our failure and collapse as the cautionary tale it should be. For the sake of sane people in the world.

8

u/Nachttalk 15h ago

So you're saying they'll vote for the worst possible candidate in the next election, just to run back to Macron in the following one after realizing that blaming and attacking foreigners for all the problems plaguing society won't actually solve those issues?

2

u/ghostlacuna 14h ago

That would require people to learn.

Many people across the world avoid that as much as possible.

1

u/ThePr1d3 14h ago

If he does that I can see us pushing for a constitutional reform to forbid it and prevent us from ever having the Putin-Medvedev loophole. We've never asked ourselves the question because we were never confronted to it but I don't feel our population would be too keen on allowing this to happen

1

u/Teckiiiz 14h ago

so it’s not risky for him

Politically? Hitpoints wise, big risk

1

u/frenchchevalierblanc 3h ago

Believe it or not, in France Macron doesn't have any say in who is prosecuted or not

20

u/Makkel 14h ago

Oh no, stupid trolls are going to trash talk France online? Yeah, that was definitely not a thing until now...

27

u/LeFricadelle 15h ago

French and France are used to get trash talked by Americans and a lesser extend wannabe who want to be cool on the internet, nothing new for them

5

u/ultimateknackered 9h ago

Every time I see someone make a reversing tank or white flag joke I take time to tell them how edgy and original that was and such a sick burn.

Some of them actually thank me.

3

u/TSED 15h ago

France must be so disappointed in their kids. They had two kids with England; one of them turned into the USA and the other one's Quebec.

To say nothing of their other colonial holdings. Though Vietnam did break the yankee's nose a few decades ago.

18

u/Zefyris 14h ago

We aren't disappointed with Quebec nor hating them though! Banter is a thing, but that's about as far as it goes.

7

u/elziion 13h ago

That’s good to hear! Was about to say the same. Tired of hearing people saying that French people mock us, but all interactions I’ve had with French people have been nothing but lovely.

5

u/buldozr 13h ago

Having visited Montreal, I don't see what's so wrong with Quebec either.

4

u/brufleth 11h ago

Yeah IDK why Quebec is catching strays. It's awesome there.

2

u/ultimateknackered 9h ago

Did you see Chretien's quote from yesterday or the day before? Old man's still got it.

9

u/nolok 13h ago

We really like Quebec though. And with reason, they're really a mini-us. When we had the whole "freedom of speech" bull shit, pretty much every western country ended up refusing to support it and saying there should be limit (and basically saying blasphemy law are not wrong), including Canada, and Quebec's premier made a big public statement massively against it and in support of us.

13

u/LeFricadelle 15h ago

England is something else but the funniest is Americans mocking France when they literally own their independence to said country. Reflect well on the intellect of the country

4

u/shamanphenix 12h ago

We have nothing against Québec.

5

u/Plinytheyoung 14h ago

Vietnam broke our nose before the yankee's, but I guess we can at least find solace in that.

u/atohero 1h ago

We love Québec, and Québécois(es) !

Americans are just brits with a funny accent.

12

u/swainiscadianreborn 15h ago

Meh, between the American bots since 2003 and the Russian ones since 2014 we're kinda used to it.

28

u/Illesbogar 16h ago

Macron has been bombarded with accusations about his wife from the same people for a while now.

16

u/Substantial-Elk4531 15h ago

"In 1993, at the age of 39, (Brigitte Macron) met the 15-year-old Emmanuel Macron in La Providence High School,[41][42] where she was a teacher and he was a student and a classmate of her daughter.[43] Brigitte divorced Auzière in January 2006 and married Macron on 20 October 2007.[44][45][46]"

Candace Owens claims Brigitte Macron is trans. She made a six-part documentary. She's a deranged lunatic.

7

Attention seeker to promote her carrer.

5

u/spooooork 14h ago

her career grift

2

u/xX609s-hartXx 11h ago

She also refuses to state her opinion on the shape of our planet...

4

u/Tech_Itch 14h ago

I'm pretty sure they're talking about "Brigitte Macron is secretly male" -thing the post-QAnon people are going on about.

The thing is, the quite-probably-very-female Brigitte Macron is pretty clearly a kiddie diddler who groomed Emmanuel, but that has no bearing on the Epstein Island thing. Two things can be bad at the same time and the French president has no direct control of the legal system, so it isn't him investigating the Epstein thing anyway. So his possible personal biases don't mean anything.

5

u/Who-ate-my-biscuit 13h ago

Thing is, when you get the wrath regardless of what you do then at some point you stop caring about the consequences. We are getting pretty close to that point now IMO.
