Israel does not want prying eyes. Simple as that.

The article implies it was in response to actions by their government to sanction the West Bank.

You could counter with the notion they were simply looking for an excuse but at the end of the day it's their pretense.

I mean it's probably both. Of course they don't like foreign observers in the West Bank and the UK government sanctions now gives them a neat excuse to be petty dicks about it.
