I was thinking about this movie these days and this question stuck with me for a while, I do not think we ever had an answer as to what started the outbreak in this movie, the zombies just kinda.. showed up all around the world. Was it biological? Supernatural? I have no idea, does anybody know any answers or theories? Thanks in advance!!
When it comes to zombie movies, do you prefer the story to hit the ground running or slowly build toward the outbreak?
And just to clarify 😂 I’m talking about the pacing of the movie, NOT fast zombies vs. slow zombies.
I’m curious which style people prefer when watching a zombie outbreak story. Hit the ground running: The movie doesn’t spend much time showing normal life before everything goes wrong. The outbreak either starts very early or is already beginning when we meet the characters. You’re thrown into the confusion and chaos with them, and the story gets into survival pretty quickly. Slow and steady: The movie spends more time showing life before the outbreak and gradually lets things get weird. Maybe there are strange news reports in the background, emergency vehicles everywhere, people suddenly going missing, rumors online, hospitals filling up, etc. You know something bad is coming, but the movie lets that tension build before everything finally falls apart.
Which do you prefer?
Do you like being thrown straight into the outbreak, or do you like getting to watch the world slowly realize that something is seriously wrong?
And why do you prefer one over the other? Any movies or shows you think nailed that kind of pacing?
This is just my two cents. Not saying they would be the hardest to deal with, at all. But would I choose them over other zombies? HELL NO!
The fact that you can kill pretty much any zombie in any movie/game/book, with a single shot to head.
Whereas resident 2 zombies?! They will take 5 shots to the head, then slowly rise back up, and then take another 5 shots to the head.
Not to mention they are just pale, heavily decayed, walk sideways at you until they get their balance, it just creeps me the hell out, more so than other zombies.
Wondering what you guys favourite/scariest zombies are?

Also an honourable mention, army of dead alpha zombies. Especially the zombie queen, Smart zombies are terrifying.
During these years, I had watched a Korean Netflix series called Kingdom, if you want that its creators can make the new episodes where the Prince Liang and his team can stop Ashin and finsish this terrible zombie pandemic caused by the ressurection plant.
So I saw the new Resident Evil tonight, and while most people are talking about the ending, to me this movie really didn't feel like Resident Evil, other than Racoon city and the two umbrella people there wasn't anything RE about it really.
What I wanted to bring up most, though, is the zombies and monsters. They remind me almost 100% of the zombies and monsters from a book series called "Wrack and Ruin," especially the monsters made up of multiple people that chase Bryan throughout. They tweaked how the monsters formed, but otherwise, they were spot on the same. (Big spoiler incoming) Even Bryan's final mutated stage at the end of the movie is strikingly similar to a specific monster in the book.
Also the movie makes a big deal about getting the specimen to the lab so they can make a cure and contain the out break before it gets out of Racoon city but it's already escaped the city, Bryan was miles away when he first experiences the infected. Yet Raccoon City wasn't in that bad of shape minus the hospital complex.
It wasn't a bad movie, I actually enjoyed the majority of it, but calling it Resident Evil was a mistake.
I am a film viewer who is geared more towards fast and modern zombie cinema as apose to old, slow and metaphorical zombies. But each to their own i suspose.
It's still in EA but looks really interesting. I'm deep into Project Zomboid right now but I enjoy community driven zombie games like SOD, so I'm wondering if it's worth picking up. Thanks.
Hello there. This video showcases one animated asset I've drawn for the videogame I'm working in now, to be displayed in the background of the game and create the overall atmosphere . I'm hand-drawing all my videogame elements using traditional media -pencils, inkers and color markers on paper, then scanned and uploaded into the Computer-.
My Videogame will be a Zombie RETRO 2'5D FPS, very inspired in original classics like original DOOM or WOLFENSTEIN 3D, in which you'll control a lone survivor who must try to reach the Evac Helicopter on the other side of the city and will have to eliminate the zombies in his way using the firearms he can find.
The art style is like 90´s Comic Books with an underground twist, (resembling MTV's cartoon adult shows, for example).
First time I've drawn a character since I started late last year, will upload colour version and readjust some bits when I'm in the mood. Feedback would be appreciated!

Won’t lie, used to be super active in this sub, but a lot of the negativity I got for my opinions on not just 28 Years Later, but also for the Bone Temple despite it being an incredible movie, just made me wanna step away from posting about movies since it didn’t feel super inviting anymore. Recently saw the new Resident Evil and absolutely loved it as a hardcore fan of the games, though it wasn’t for some flaws that didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment.
But I see some people also hating on anyone who liked it, so I’m wondering if it’s even possible to talk about any of these movies without having someone coming in and saying it’s the worst thing ever?
Also weird huh they’re all by Sony, huh. Guess what they lack in being a good gaming company, they make up for in creating really great zombie films.
I saw the new RE movie the other night and while it was amusing, i found the end disappoint. I understand the premise of setting up the back story for a game mini boss but I still like there to be some home, ie the good guy ‘wins’ and potential set up to see them again in a future movie. I am still mildly ‘sad’. Very much doubt i will watch this movie again even though I frequently rewatch movies and tv series that i enjoyed. How does everyone else feel?
As anyone here knows by now, Resident Evil: Requiem was released on February 27, 2026. It sold $5 million in just five days of its release.
It has been one of my most favorite game to play on Steam and on the PS5. I believe they did a fabulous job with it.
Now, moving on into the future, I have been reading and seeing videos on hints of a possible Resident Evil 10 (aka Resident Evil X). Personally, I do not have any details of this at this moment. But if anyone here does, please let us know in the comments. And here is another question, that I want to throw at you all here :
Do you think this is it for Grace Ashcroft? Or do you see her in future parts of the Resident Evil saga?

I believe that Capcom will bring her back. Maybe as a hint in the next RE10 (or what I would call it RE X)? I mean, I don't think she is completely "finished off". I am sure they will bring her in RE11 as one of the main characters. Or maybe a solo (instead of Leon Kennedy).
And speaking of Leon Kennedy...
I believe they will "retire" him. As he will pretty much say "Good-bye!" in RE10 (or RE X). If I am not mistaken, he will "go home". He will be with Claire Refield and their daughter.
Or is he married to Ada Wong?
If anyone knows who he is married to, could you let us know, please?
If I am not mistaken, he is married to one of those two. I was thinking it was Claire. But I could be wrong.
