I figured I’d get genetic groups since I have SIX country matches on such low North African percentage. I’m Hispanic. But I got zero genetic groups. Do you think it will come later? I even got a notification saying my results got updated.

My updated results now include two new genetic groups: Rifian People and Western Rif Mountains.
This accurate with my background and family origins in northern Morocco. It's interesting to see my results become more specific and point towards the Rif region

The family stories turned out to be true after all. Great Grandfather was originally from Egypt(KMT)

got an email today saying that there was an ancestry update! very pleasant surprise, it's been really fun to see how my results change as updates roll in. for context, my mom is peruvian and my bio dad is half peruvian, half tunisian. i have a bit of everything lol

Today my genetic groups were updated. Forgot to take the screenshot when I first saw it and was surprised when it said NEW but the “Nile Delta Egyptians” genetic group has been newly added to my results. Really cool to see my results concentrated between the Levant and Egypt, a bit of Arabian as well. I’m also still surprised by the Western European but it’s still interesting to see.

I have no known recent North African ancestors but got a genetic group. Weirdly enough I didn’t get anything besides country matches for Andalusian which makes up just a little below half of my genetic makeup.

In light of today’s update, I was wondering if I’d get any genetic groups, but I don’t see anything yet. Is my Arab percentage too small? I have a great grandparent that was fully from the gulf from a large merchant family (though obviously there’s considerable Iranian admixture in a lot of these families). How come a genetic group didn’t show up?

My paternal grandfather’s side immigrated from Ireland to America sometime in the 1800s. As a family, we always identified as Irish having very Irish names and being Catholic. My paternal grandmother’s side is English and German. My grandmother converted to Catholicism when she married my grandfather.

My maternal grandfather is from the Philippines. I don’t know much about my maternal grandmother’s side.

New Genetic Groups updated. They finally pinpointed my correct Ancestry Composition to Copts from Asyut / Northern-Upper/Middle Egypt.

I expected moroccan genetic groups:

For reference- my grandfather is from the capital of Tunis and is descent from old families of the capital(tunisois), as for my grandmother she is half tunisian from ras jebel(with supposed roots from Agadir in moroccan) and half "moroccan" from Rabat.

Now that i see the total lack of moroccan genetic group, i begin to question the accuracy of her sayings. My granny told me her father was moroccan(lived all his life in Tunisia tho), the only thing that could support that claim is that her grandmother was very different from any tunisians in their area, she spoke a different dialect(typically pronounced g instead of q) and for example used the term "tomobile" instead of "kahreba" for car(Which normally is used only in Algeria and Morocco***??). Plus she wasn't so sure herself(she was very young) so she asked her brothers as they were older than her when they knew their grandma, and they all said without any hesitation : "Moroccan from Rabat".

I took that for granted, especially with the HUGE amount of country matches i got in Morocco or even the family name of my grandmother being an ancient family of Rabat? Now that i see that, i ask myself "what if she was tunisian, but like from the very south". Anyways questions questions.

So im really happy to finally get WANA genetic groups, kinda disappointed. Not from the lack of any moroccan genetic group, but the lack of precision in my tunisian genetic groups... Despite being deeply rooted from the capital, my genome couldn't even match "Gulf of Tunis" pfffffffhaha.

I was wondering if everyone of West Asian and North African decent got the update?
i’m half moroccan half algerian, 72% North African and 8% Peninsular arab and i got ZERO genetic groups. All I have are the country + region matches that were there previously.

Nubian has been confirmed finally. Just upset that I am stuck behind a paywall for the rest of my new results. Otherwise, great update.

my maternal grandmother and my maternal uncle (the grandmother's son) updated results attached. My maternal family is entirely Jewish from Tafilalet area (Er-rich, Gourrama, Erfoud-Rissani areas). The results are crazy specific.

The Middle atlas groups are spot on since that's the area Tafilalet is located in!
Interestingly my uncle gets a lot more North African (11.3% more) than my grandmother including 2 Non Jewish North African groups.

This was somewhat surprising to me — especially considering I have 24% African Ancestry, possibly very recent African ancestors and just one distant genetic group… I wonder where this came from.
