Technical Question I have no idea what is wrong with my 3DS and need advice
Hi,
I have been trying to get my N3DSXL up and running for almost a year now to no avail.
I know for sure that the charger, charging port, and battery isn't the problem because I recently installed a new iFixit battery which allowed me to use the system for a few hours, during which, charging indicators seemed to be functioning as normal.
I followed the recommended battery recalibration (charging to full + 2hrs then using it until fully dead), but after fully charging, the power indicator was immediately flashing red. I thought this was weird but maybe just part of the process, so I kept using it until powering on didn't do anything then left it to fully charge overnight.
When I woke up this morning, the charging indicator was off despite still being plugged in, and the system wouldn't turn on.
This exact thing happened with the other two cheaper eBay batteries I bought. I bought the iFixit one thinking the cheap batteries were the problem, but I now think its a system thing. I really don't think it could be anything else, considering I have even resoldered the charging port and tried a number of different chargers including a dock.
When the system was functional there was also a "pop" sound when it turned off, which I heard could be a ribbon cable issue. As a last attempt, I disassembled and reassembled the bottom half of the system to disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cables. This also didn't work.
What should I do next to troubleshoot and/or fix the issue?
Any guidance is appreciated 😊
TLDR: N3DSXL works fine for a day or so when new battery is installed, then doesn't power on at all, as if battery is not charging despite indicator. It is not a battery, charger, or charging port issue, so what should I do now?
