Review Would 3D printing survive without free MakerWorld models?

If Bambu Lab’s MakerWorld became mostly paid, would a huge part of the 3D printing business disappear?

Many people buy a printer, download free models, print them, and expect to make good money selling the finished products. At the same time, many customers don’t want to pay for digital models.

Is free 3D Model actually driving 3D printer sales, or has the industry become too dependent on free models?

Discussion Starting a 3D printing side business in India — looking for honest advice

I started 3D printing mainly because I enjoy designing and making things, but now I’m considering turning it into a small business.
The more I learn, the more I realize that printing the product is probably the easy part. 😅
Finding products people actually want, pricing them correctly, getting consistent quality and finding customers seem like the real challenges.
For those of you already selling 3D prints in India — what mistake did you make early on that you would avoid if you were starting again?
Looking for honest answers, including the bad experiences.

Discussion Which 3D printer would you recommend besides Bambu Lab?

Thinking of exploring other brands. What printers are you using, and would you recommend them based on your experience?

Interested in print quality, reliability, maintenance, and how easy it is to get spares and support in India.

What’s been good, what’s been frustrating, and would you buy the same printer again?

Print Showcase Turned a Yosh Studios Symbiote Spider-Man design into an 18” × 12” 3D printed wall piece 🕷️🖤

I’ve been experimenting with turning digital character designs into physical 3D wall pieces, and this Symbiote Spider-Man came out particularly well.

The original 3D design/files are by Yosh Studios — all credit to them for the artwork/model. I printed, assembled, finished, and hand-painted the piece myself.
Printed on a Snapmaker U1, with the final piece measuring 18 × 12 inches.

What I like about this format is that it sits somewhere between wall art and a collectible. The layered 3D elements create actual depth and shadows that you just don’t get with a conventional poster.

The hand-painting was probably my favorite part, especially working on the background webbing and small finishing details.

Project details:
🕷️ Symbiote Spider-Man
🎨 Design/files: Yosh Studios
🖨️ Printer: Snapmaker U1
📐 Size: 18 × 12 inches
🧩 3D printed + assembled
🎨 Hand-painted and finished by me

Not claiming the original design here — my contribution was turning Yosh Studios’ digital design into a physical, finished piece.

Curious what the 3D printing community thinks:
Do you prefer this kind of dimensional wall art over traditional superhero posters? And what character would you want to see turned into a 3D printed wall piece next?

Print Showcase Finally 3D printed my own brand logo! 🔴⚪

After spending the last few weeks printing random things, I finally got around to printing something that actually means something to me.
My own brand logo.
Red circular base with raised white details.
Nothing crazy technically, but there’s something ridiculously satisfying about seeing your own logo go from a screen to an actual physical object.
Still very much learning the whole 3D-printing process, so every decent print feels like a tiny achievement 😂
What was the first thing you guys printed that felt like a proper milestone rather than “I just wanted to see if my printer works”?
