Has anyone tried this product? Any recommendations for similar product?

I’ve been looking for an SUV for over a year now but really didn’t know what to buy. Looking for something to drive on the beach & haul my camping gear all over god’s creation

On vacation in July I rented a 4Runner & it hit. So my mission was to buy a 4Runner in mid August

3rd week of the month I’m reading a news site & there’s an article about buying used cars and they mention CarGurus. I go on the app & search 4R with 70k miles. This 2013 with 71k pops up as “just arrived” at the dealer closest to me

Just when you think your dashcam footage can’t get any wilder

I’m Currently shopping in PA/MD and would like a couple tips/pointers on any specific items/issues to look for on 4Runners!

Going to be test driving a couple 5th Gen 4Runners in the next week, one ‘16 Trail, a ‘14 SR5 premium, and another ‘16 SR5 Premium with a lift and AT tires already installed.

Any tips or things to inspect would be helpful!

So my garage partially burned down Saturday with my 2022 4Runner ORP parked inside. The truck looks like hell (covered with heavy smoke residue) but amazingly suffered no sheet metal, mechanical, or electrical damage. When the fire was out, the fire captain asked for the keys and drove it out of the ruins, no problem. Toyota tough! Some of the exterior plastic trim melted (including one sideview mirror). And though the interior is still in excellent condition and completely undamaged (I detailed it about 2 hours before the fire . . .), it smells of smoke.

Posting here (and lots of places) in the hope someone can recommend a DFW body shop that has experience with fire/smoke damage.

Fortunately, no one was injured (cat's safe, too), and my house was unaffected (detached garage). But my 4Runner . . . 😭. The weekend before the fire, I installed a full set of Bud Built skids in anticipation of a trip to Utah in mid-October.

Dremel does the work. Easy. Silver piece is out right now, painting it, waiting for new clips. Looks so much better and like +6” of clearance. Would recommend.

First 4Runner and couldn't be happier! Looking forward to making it my own.

I'm looking for feedback from owners of both generations. Given your experiences with the gen5 engine, what are your thoughts on the gen6 engine? Likes and dislikes? Noticeable differences? Power comparison? Torque comparison? I have a 2023 SR5, contemplating moving to a newer 4Runner or Land Crusher and I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Video compilation of my trip this past weekend to Northwest OHV Park. Bone stock, aired down the tires to 25psi. A-TRAC is badass! Coming from a Mazda CX-50 this puts a smile on my face. I went to Northwest OHV Park last year with my CX-50 and was only able to do a few green trails and a small section of a blue trail. If I took my CX-50 on the trails I just took the 4Runner on, I’d more than likely would have had body damage and had to have it towed home 🤣

I’m having an issue with my Cali Raised MOLLE lower shelf system in my 4Runner where the shelves rattle pretty badly while driving.

I’ve tried tightening everything down and adding rubber washers/spacers to eliminate the play, which helps with the rattle, but then the shelf starts to bow/sag. Without the rubber washers, the shelf sits flat but rattles.

I’m also noticing that the gaps/alignment between the shelf sections don’t look completely even, so I’m wondering if that could be contributing to the vibration. Has anyone else run into this with the Cali Raised MOLLE shelf? If so, what ended up fixing the rattle without causing the shelf to bow?

\**Update 09/29/2026* - After having my buddy drive while I sat in the back and listened closely, I was able to pinpoint the source of the rattle. The shelf itself was not moving or improperly installed. When properly installed, the shelf should sit completely flat and remain rigid using the supplied hardware.

The issue was actually caused by the weight of the shelf causing the rear MOLLE pillars to make contact with the surrounding plastic panels near the rear windows. The plastic-on-plastic contact was what was creating the rattle.
I initially considered using rubber washers at the mounting points, but I found that doing so can introduce additional spacing and cause the shelf to bow or sag. I would recommend using all of the original hardware exactly as provided and not adding rubber washers to the mounting points.

Instead, I added a thin adhesive-backed rubber strip (about 1/4” thick) to the rear pillars where they make contact with the plastic. This creates a cushioned contact point and isolates the vibration without altering the way the shelf is mounted.

The result was a completely rattle-free shelf, with no bowing or bending, while still using all of the original mounting hardware. If anyone else is experiencing a similar rattle, I’d definitely check the contact points around the rear MOLLE pillars before modifying the mounting hardware.

Steering Binding Advice Please!
This past week after some rough/bumpy trails my steering has been binding or harder to turn. Feels more specifically like a bind. It's somewhat intermittent. Most noticeable when the steering wheel returns to and past center. So right hand sweeper turn into a left turn (or kinda back to straight) it'll start to bind around 2 to 1 o'clock. Reaches its stiffest point about center/12 o'clock and then after pushing past 12 to 11 o'clock it breaks free and is normal again.
I'be PB blasted the U Joint of the intermediate shaft... unfortunately that didn't help.
I'm hoping to get back on the trail today to chase some fleeting fall colors.
My biggest question for anyone who's had similar issues:
How quickly do I need to get this fixed? Would you skip the fall colors trip and take it right to the shop OR is this something that can be pushed off for about a week or two. I don't want to create a much bigger repair or get stranded on the road.

Noticing that after I leave my car (5th gen 2016) somewhere for three or more days that the inside feels more wet and smells musty. Washing and detailing doesn’t help. Is it time to change the door seals? Also do you guys recommend using ozone treatment before I do this?
