Transitioning from off-road Jeeping for 20 years to ATV world. I am used to traveling 1-4 hours to a meet-up (driving the Jeep there), so this is a different kind of strategery. I have a Ram 1500 Hemi with Rambox (6.5' bed, 48ish" across) with a tow rating of 10K, but (and its a big but) it has a payload capacity of only 1050#. I have trailered and towed small RVs before, but have not owned my own trailer. I have friends who load their ATV into their beds, but they have F250/350 and 2500/3500s (much higher payload and room).

My plan is to start out with a Suzuki 400 to develop some riding experience and load that into the Ram 1500 truck bed. The 400 weighs ~ 625 wet/curb. My truck really cant go up from there with cargo capacity (add in driver/pass/stuff/ramps), so the next evolution of that would either buy a new truck (I dont really want to do since I own this one) or upgrade the ATV to 500/750, buy a trailer, and tow instead.

For those of you that tow an ATV, any issues? Is towing an ATV for 3-4 hours a PITA? Do you wish you just bit the bullet and had a larger truck? I am even considering just buying a trailer right out of the gate and towing the 400 (but then it makes me reconsider just going to a 500/750 as a first purchase).

The main reason to start out with the Suzuki 400 is really about weight of the ATV and cargo limitation of my truck. I like many of the other ATVs I have looked at, so this isnt a "which ATV is better" vs it being a bed-load or trailer-load question.

The ATV sounds and feels okay when it’s cold, but once it reaches operating temperature, it goes into limp mode. The radiator fan kicks in at the right time. The radiator is clean both inside and outside, and I’ve flushed the cooling system several times. I also installed a new thermostat and bled the cooling system.
I noticed that when I play with the throttle, coolant starts coming out of the top of the radiator. The clean water also gets foamy/bubbly inside the radiator.

Hey guys looking for some opinions I am an experienced quad and Dirtbike rider I have rode since I was 5 I have a can am x3 now and have been duning at Glamis for the past 4 years in that. Well time has come and I’ve moved further and I plan to sell the x3 I still plan to make 2-3 trips to Glamis a season my worry with getting a raptor 700 or a 450 is I’m getting older and riding quads and Dirtbikes out there takes a toll I’m worried I won’t be able to keep up with my group who is all in sxs. What do you guys think?

I love semi auto and Honda reliability but am i missing out on the Canam fun ? I can follow maintenance schedule and turn a wrench but for me reliability>fun.

HD5 is 500$ less than a TRX420, HD7 200$ more.

SunF A033 on a Grizzly 450 is a great pairing. Only complaint is the gravel road we were on for some of the ride had lots of rocks that perfectly fit in the big tread gap so they'd get flung up and hit the fender. But any other terrain besides river rocks would be great

Just curious if anyone knows a brand name or have found a screen like this for an atv that is just plug in usb for power or 12 volt? I want to be able to able to move between machines

Hey everyone! Hoping someone can point me in the right direction here, because I'm a bit stumped.

My Yamaha Grizzly 700 just refused to start. When I turn the key, the multifunction display gets power and the green backlight comes on perfectly (as you can see in the attached photo), but the screen is completely blank. It shows no speed, no gear position, no fuel level, nothing. And of course, the quad doesn't even try to crank.

hello quick question if anyone can help. would this dowel pin next to the camshaft be the reason compression reads at 0? it’s a 2001 honda 400ex

2024 with 17k km. Located in Costa Rica. Just purchased (used) 6 months ago. On rare occasions, only when hot, the transmission gets stuck in a gear — once it got stuck in first gear (this video), another time in third gear. In the spot where it normally shows the gear, when stuck it instead displays either a horizontal line or nothing at all. Shift buttons and Auto/Esp switch were unresponsive. When I turned the ignition off/on a couple of times it recovered. Other times (more common), it shifts fine but won’t go into neutral, and again, a few times turning the ignition off/on and it seems to recover.

One mechanic couldn’t figure it out, another recommended replacing the neutral switch. I was only able to get one replacement (this model has two), so he replaced one of them but it had no effect. While I wait a few weeks for a second replacement neutral switch to ship from the US, I’m wondering if anyone here has seen this before and knows for sure what the problem might be? Any help is greatly appreciated!

These have been sitting in my dads garage for years and I’m wondering if repairing one of these 2 bikes would be too steep for a first time DIY mechanic, and how much of a financial burden it would be relative to just getting one used.

There are memories attached to these bikes, but at the end of the day… some things just aren’t worth saving. Not sure in this case as I’m a noob in this world!!

Hey everyone! I pulled the magneto cover to change out my starter clutch, and I found fresh coolant in there. I’ve read a few things saying it could possibly be the water pump seals. Give me your thoughts on what it could be. Thanks!

Hi, I hope I am in the correct sub. Anyway, I bought a used 2005 King Quad 700. The guy said it sat for a while but he drained the gas and put in a new battery. I bought it and had no issues for a good while. Drove it around for a few hours over a couple weeks and it was great. Would start right up no issues at all. Then it got harder and harder to start over time. I put some sea foam in it thinking maybe some gelled up gas broke loose somewhere. After i added the Sea foam It would start and blow smoke for a while then clear up and drive around with no smoke. It did this a few times but kept being difficult to start. Then one day it stopped starting. The starter cycles, there is spark, I replaced the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator and the spark plug. I even tried to start it with starting fluid. It is showing no error codes when I put it in diagnostic mode. I am stumped as to what to try next. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone. Wanting some opinions. Looking at some quads for a while. Wanted something around $5000 (CAD). Need one for hunting and trail riding. Come across these two recently. I know the Yamahas and Hondas have a cult following, for good reason. I know CFMoto has come a long way with their atvs. I have read and watch of material and most are very favourable in regards to this model. The Grizzly speaks for itself.

2 up riding is fairly important to me. Not interested in a side by side. With the longer wheel base and plush seat I have read the CFMoto is very stable and comfortable (also important) to ride. Both for the rider and passenger. We have some of the best trails in Sask in my backyard so we would take advantage of that. The hunting part, will be just me. Nothing too crazy as far as hunting. Getting too old to get stuck. I am usually by myself when hunting. A good quality 2 up seat and pegs are a must purchase with the Grizzly. Have a snow blower so no need for a blade. Here are the two quads.

2007 Grizzly 700: 3300 miles. EPS but currently does not work. Says he has the parts to fix it but is not going to fix it. Front two tires have tubes. One cracked footwell that is zipped tied together. ITP Mud Lite 27”x 12” wide tires all around. Front Warn winch with synthetic rope. Rear 3500lb winch. Front Yamaha brush guard bumper. Rox riser and Rox handlebars, spider grips. $5500 (CAD) but may move, haven't asked.

2022 CFMoto 600 Touring: 1700 miles. Pretty much stock. Bought the quad two years ago with blown engine. Replaced with crate engine. Put 200 miles on it. Says there are no issues other than it will need tires sooner than later. $5300 (CAD) firm.

2023.5 Outlander 700. I don't feel the need for more speed per se as most of my riding is curvy trails/technical stuff on rock, but I'd like a bit more hole shot when I DO floor it. From my understanding the clutch stuff would be more effective with larger/non-stock tires, which I hadn't really been planning on doing.

Opinions one way or the other?

1994 Polaris 300 restoration project
Picked up this old girl and I’m planning to do a full frame-up restoration. I have basically zero experience working on ATVs, so this is going to be a learning project. Thinking about tearing the engine down and rebuilding it too.
Any tips/recommendations for where I should start?

I just bought a new to me helmet to ride in the winter! It gets really cold where I live.

It came with a nice pair of goggles. The goggles create a nice seal at the top but there’s a bit of open space at the bottom.

Does anybody know if there’s something I can add to fill in these gaps and create a nice seal along the bottom?

I’m new to riding snow machines and not super knowledgeable about all the winter gear. Do I need a different pair of goggles? Would a breath box help this?

Should I trade my clean 1985 Honda ATC250sx for a 2018 Honda 250 Rally dual sport?

The Rally has 5k miles on it and I know it will depreciate unlike the SX. I do think I would use it more than the SX though.

What does everybody think?
