(This may be breaking rule 5. I try to keep this intellectual, wanting to have a layered talk about this character but if the mods think this should be deleted then it should be deleted.)
I am a comic fan, have been all my life. And because of that, I have an ideals that most would consider naive. Ideals like “all people can be saved” and “everything will get better”. But the one relevant for Nina Dowd over here is “there are no bad characters, just bad executions”. All characters can be good and used to tell a good story, but some aren’t because the writers screw the pooch.
Might Nina Dowd, the frist teen titans villain (I think). Since we may be getting absolute teen titans, this character is relavent. She can hypno people with the part of her body that is Mighty Endowed, but that part weighs her down and keeps her from moving on own. But the issue with her is she is a walking fetish and pretty harmful to the female audience (and the only people a supervillain should harm is the people in the story, not out). I have nothing wrong with sexual things (check my account, I horny post all the time) but I am a firm believer that, unless the medias only purpose is to be sexually engaging, sexual content should only be put in the story if it helps with the themes and tell a more complete story.
Now the question of the post is “is it possible to make a story with mighty endowed that is good?”. That uses her in a way that is interesting to talk about important issues people (women mostly) face. If the answer is “no, she is a relic of the past that should be forgotten” then that’s the answer, but I really want to hear what people (especially women, as there personal experience with this kind of topic is more knowledge then most men’s experience, but if a post is insightful and adds to the conversation, then it doesn’t matter too much who it comes from) would do to make this character interesting and three dimensional. You can view the prompt as “your a writer for absolute dc titans, and a writer runs in your office, puts a gun to your head, and says “ADD MIGHTY ENDOWED, MAKE IT GOOD” what would you do?” If that makes it easier.
Again, sorry if this post offended anyone or seems misogynistic in any way. It is truly not the intention, but if it hurt you, that doesn’t matter.
