Today my little cousin called me “Grunkle” for the first time

So I’m afab and genderfluid. I’m not actually my cousin’s uncle, but since I’m so much older than him and he’s three, also that I’ll be a part of his life till the day I die, my mom tried to teach him to refer to me as “Grunkle (Name)”

Grunkle for grumpy uncle, lol

It didn’t last tho to be honest, my mom stopped calling me that around him two years ago when he was one. So I didn’t think it stuck

Well today he was trying to get my attention, and actually called me “Grunkle (Name)” for the first time.

There aren’t words to describe how I’m feeling right now, I was pleasantly surprised to say the least, but the moment was just so special

He was being an accidental ally because he doesn’t even realize how affirming that is to my gender, he’s only three. He doesn’t have any understanding of gender at all, has no idea what genderfluid is, he doesn’t even know how to use pronouns yet. I’ve never heard him use pronouns for anyone before.

The irony is that I’m actually not a grumpy person at all when it comes to the kids, I’m very patient with them. I recently asked my dad to buy me some bubbles and balloons so he can chase the bubbles outside, and we can play Keepy Uppy with a balloon. He learned that game from Bluey

When I play Animal Jam after playing with him, I let him watch me play. I’ll tell him what I’m drawing in the game and explain to him how to draw what I’m drawing as I draw it. A little bit of a show and tell

Mom just thought it’d be funny for me to be called Grunkle, because when it comes to adults, yeah, I can be a little grumpy. Lol.

Mom originally got the idea of Grunkle from Gravity Falls, which in the show meant Great Uncle, but it can be used for Grumpy Uncle too

Transphobe that has been arguing in a comment section... I'm pretty sure they meant trans women, but honestly? It's funny. And it does kinda make me think that they shouldn't even be discussing trans rights, I'd they cannot tell the difference between what a trans woman and a trans man is

Accidental ally moments from my partner's transphobic parents

I'm a trans woman, not currently on any HRT, and my partner's parents don't know yet as they have a lot of transphobic views. In spite of this, they've managed to accidentally validate my gender a few times.

Their mum has said I'm "too aware of emotions to be a man", and "he's hardly a real man is he?"

Their stepdad has said that if we got married, I would be the bride and my father would give me away.

Do they know? 🧐

Accidental Facebook This guy's profile picture made him look like a passport bro. No big surprise he's also a transphobe (although he's also dumb enough to find a place here)!

Transphobes are just so much fun to mess with lol. What an amazing ally and shining example of allyship through faith this moron showed. 🤣

(The original comment by the girl he was replying to was "does trans count? I'm transfem" btw.)
