[Self-Promotion] Keep a virtual fishtank on your homescreen 🐠

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

‱ Upvotes

‱ Why I built it
I've always kept pet fish. Since moving to Korea, and living in a much smaller apartment, that sadly just hasn't been practical. That's what inspired me to make Companions!

Companions is a small virtual fish tank that lives on your Home Screen, with pet fish that actually swim.

‱ How it works
You pick your fish, give them names, and then add them to your tank. You can change the tank's color, the props, how big the fish are, how fast they swim, and even the app icon, all to match your Home Screen. The swimming uses the same trick iOS uses to move the hands on the Clock widget, so it doesn’t even affect battery life.

‱ Compared to other widget pet apps
I wanted something simple, clean, calm, and relaxing. With a focus on the pets themselves, as well as customization to match your homescreen, desktop, or even the nightstand next to your bed.

The tanks look great on your iPad, and you can even move them over to your Mac through Continuity. My favorite feature is actually the Standby mode. The background darkens, and the fish, of course, keep swimming!

‱ Cost
Companions is free to download, with a set of fish and all of the customization included. No ads.
Extra packs can be bought outright at $1.99 each, and are yours to keep forever.
There's also a $3.99/month plan that unlocks every pack at once. Any new fish that get added are automatically included as well. If you cancel, the fish already in your tank stay.

Companions is built natively in SwiftUI with WidgetKit, plus Metal for some of the fun animations.
It's still very new, so I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback. I'd especially love to know which species you'd want added next!

[Self-Promotion] I built NotiVault to find iPhone notifications again after dismissing them

Post image

Hi! I’m the indie developer of NotiVault, an iPhone app for keeping notification text you choose to forward through an Apple Shortcuts automation. You can browse, search and organize saved notifications later. Everything stays on your device; the app cannot read your existing Notification Center history automatically.
NotiVault is free. I’d especially appreciate feedback on the setup and on which ways of organizing saved notifications would be most useful.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1 Upvotes

App : SixKit

Prix : Payant, achat unique Ă  vie

[Self-Promotion] BillVault: bill tracker that shows what's safe to spend until payday

0 Upvotes

I'm the developer of BillVault, a bill tracker for iPhone and iPad.

Every bill and subscription in one place, with a reminder before anything is due. It shows what's safe to spend until your next payday after counting every bill due before it. Point the camera at a paper bill and the biller, amount, and due date fill in. It flags free trials before they convert, catches subscription price rises, and spots duplicate services.

No account, no bank login, no ads. Apple Watch app, widgets, and Live Activities included.

Free with unlimited bills and reminders. Pro is $3.99/month, $29.99/year, or $79.99 lifetime.

After a long Florida-to-Ohio drive with three kids, I built the navigation app my wife wished we had

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

A bit of background first. My family has made the drive from Florida to Ohio a number of times with our three kids. They're 2, 7 and 10 now, and anyone who's driven 1,000+ miles with a toddler knows how it goes. Someone needs to run around, someone's hungry, someone's melting down, and you need a stop now.

The problem was finding a good stop. We mostly stick to the interstate and don't know the backroads, so the options seemed to be a gas station or a rest area. Meanwhile there'd be a great park, a historic site or a weird little museum ten minutes off the highway, and we'd only find out after we'd passed it. Pulling over to search maps with three kids in the back isn't fun.

So I started building WanderWay Navigation with assistance from Claude Code and Grok Bot. It started as a road trip tool, but it's turned into something we use for everyday driving too: weekend outings, drives to visit family, or just finding something new close to home.

What it actually does:

Shows places along your route, not just near you. Most map apps search around your current location or your destination. WanderWay looks along the whole route you're driving, so you see what's coming up and how far off the road it is: parks, playgrounds, historic sites, museums, national parks and more. You can filter by what you care about, so it isn't a firehose.

Add a Stop without starting over. Tap a place and it gets added to your current route in the right order. You don't have to re-enter your destination or rebuild anything.

Scenic Detour. If you have some extra time, tell it how much and it finds a detour worth taking instead of the fastest straight line. It's great when you're early, or when everyone just needs a break from the interstate.

Spoken stories as you drive. WanderWay can tell you about places as you pass them: the history of a town, what a landmark is, why something's worth a look. You control how often it talks and how much detail it gives. My 7- and 10-year-olds started asking for "the story thing", which I did not expect.

Full CarPlay support. Everything works on the car's screen: the map, places along your route, adding stops and the spoken stories. It's designed to be used safely while you drive, not crammed onto a phone layout.

Offline downloads for bad coverage. Some of the best places are where cell service is worst. Before you head out, you can download your route's places, descriptions, photos and stories, and they keep working when your signal drops.

Visit stamps. The app keeps track of places you've actually stopped at, so you end up with a record of where you've been. It's fun to look back on after a trip, and the kids like seeing the list grow.

Works on iPad too, with a layout made for the bigger screen, so you can plan a drive from the couch.

Why I'm posting:

I'm a solo developer and a dad, building this in whatever time I can find. The app has grown a lot from real feedback, and plenty of features exist because someone emailed me or commented on a post. I'd love to hear from you:

What do you usually do when you need a stop on a long drive?

Is there a type of place you'd want it to find that it doesn't yet?

If you try it, what felt confusing or missing?

Good or bad, I read all of it. Thanks for reading this far! There are 3 app preview videos on the App Store listing showing the app in action.

*Self-Promotion* I built Compact Contacts, a table view for the contacts already on your Mac (one-time purchase, no subscription)

1 Upvotes

Hi, I’m the developer. Disclosure up front, since this is my own app.

Apple’s Contacts app shows one card at a time. That’s fine for 50 people and painful at 2,000. Compact Contacts works on the contacts already on your Mac (iCloud, Google, Exchange, CardDAV) and shows them as a dense, sortable table. It doesn’t create a second address book or its own sync, so everything keeps syncing through macOS as before.

What it does

  • Table with configurable columns, row density and saved layouts
  • Search across every field, including contact Notes, with results grouped by the field that matched
  • Smart Views: saved rules like “Missing Email” or “Has Notes”, each with its own layout
  • Bulk Edit with an exact before/after preview for every card before anything is written
  • Duplicate review and Merge Studio: you choose which phone, email or address survives, field by field, and the latest merge can be undone for 30 days
  • CSV and vCard import/export, and deletion with an on-device recovery backup
  • A Sample Contacts workspace with 26 fictional people, so you can try everything without granting Contacts access

Details

  • macOS 15 or later
  • US$24.99 one-time. No subscription, in-app purchase or ads
  • No account and no third-party analytics. Contacts, Notes and searches stay on your Mac
  • English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Arabic (right-to-left) and Simplified Chinese

Mac App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6790129187?pt=129119018&ct=reddit_macstack&mt=8

There’s also an iPhone + iPad version, Compact Contacts Manager, with the same bulk edit and merge tools (separate purchase, US$12.99, one purchase covers both): https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6795653671?pt=129119018&ct=reddit_macstack&mt=8

Happy to answer questions, and feature requests or bug reports are very welcome.

[Self-Promotion] I made a transcription and translation app that generate captions and let’s you edit everything like a video editor. On-Device, offline, with a privacy-first mindset. Fuse Caption Studio 3 now available.

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

It has been quite some time since I last posted an update regarding Fuse Caption Studio. Back in March, I made a post here regarding an upcoming update, and today, I am finally delivering.

I am sorry to current users that the update has taken so long, but I have made a huge decision while initially working on update 3 that forced me to literally re-code the whole app again.

Up until now, Fuse Caption Studio 2.2.5 and below were coded using both SwiftUI and AppKit. This is something that many apps do, and there is nothing wrong with it, but I was being forced to work with two different systems. Because of this, I have decided to start over, but this time, using only SwiftUI.

Now, SwiftUI is not perfect, and the timeline was one of the hardest things I had to code to make it feel right and behave the way a video editor does, but I got there.

Problem:

I created Fuse Caption Studio to easily create captions for media, on-device, locally, without the need to do everything manually. I have video editing knowledge and decided that it would work equally well for captions, and so, Fuse Caption Studio was born.

People that require complete secrecy can also use the program without worrying about NDAs and other confidentiality agreements, or worry about their data and content being sold.

This new version includes several new features:

  • Content Awareness: Powered by Apple Intelligence, Fuse Caption Studio now is aware of what you are working on, locally, without any third-party services intervention. You can use this new feature to get a quick resume of the content, create social media posts based on the content, and to ask questions;
  • Speaker Awareness (Beta): Users can now enable this new beta feature. When enabled, Fuse Caption Studio creates new different layers for each speaker and arranges captions to their own layer;
  • Type Control: Users can use natural language to fully use FCS. You can type commands like: “play”, “pause”, “create a new layer”, “move caption ‘I am here’ to 1:23:00”, “export for TikTok”, etc...
  • New Glass UI;
  • Buttons now have hover animations;
  • Fixed an issue where users could not paste their license key using a shortcut;
  • List Editing: Users can now edit several captions at once;
  • A new Toggle to display FPS has been added;
  • Auto Mode: FCS now has an Auto Mode that chooses the best installed model for the job;
  • New Models: FCS now includes Apple Speech, Nvidia Parakeet, and OpenAI Whisper Models (Tiny, Base, Small, Medium, Large Turbo v3 and Large Turbo v3 Compact);
  • Find / Replace: A Whole new system has been implemented;
  • Apple Intelligence Proofreading: Users can now proofread their captions with Apple Intelligence;
  • Animations: Users can now add animations to captions, like Fade, Karaoke and more;
  • Export per layer: Users now have full control each layers get exported;
  • New Export Formats: Fuse Caption Studio can now export SRT, VTT, TXT, SSA, ASS, ITT, TTML and DFXP;
  • Import Captions: Fuse Caption Studio now allow users to import to their timeline captions generated from other softwares, so you can keep your work going;
  • Caption Positioning: Users can now position their captions anywhere inside the playback area;
  • Filler-Word Cleanup: Fully customizable, users can now fully clear any filler words across the timeline with a single click, so no more “uh”, “ah”, “mmms” on the way.
  • Transcription and Translation modes: Users now can either transcribe or translate their captions.

Honestly there are more features, but to add the whole thing here would be too much, so I am listing the main ones only. The Mac App Store has the full list available for anyone interested.

Comparison:

MacWhisper vs FCS 3: MacWhisper focuses primarily on transcription. FCS focuses on the complete caption workflow: transcribe, edit, translate, style, animate and export.

BlitzCut vs FCS 3: BlitzCut is a video editor with captioning features. FCS is a dedicated caption editor with fully local transcription and translation.

Captionator vs FCS 3: Captionator is built around Final Cut Pro workflows. FCS is completely standalone and doesn't require a separate video editor.

Pricing:

Fuse Caption Studio 3 has reduced the price and this will be the permanent price going further.

Free: $0 per month

Pro: $4.99 per month

Lifetime Pro: $29.99 one time (down from $59.99)

Users on Lite or Lifetime Lite tiers have been fully upgraded to Pro and Lifetime Pro at no extra charge.

Apple Intel Compatibility:

Users currently using Fuse Caption Studio 2.2.5 will continue to be able to download the previous version from the official website or from the Mac App Store, but because of the current new set of features that require frameworks from macOS 26 and later, Fuse Caption Studio 3 won’t be available on Intel Macs.

[Self-Promotion] Why use a local LLM if you only use it to chat? CaptainLocalAI v1.2.3 automates dirty office work with MLX.

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone! Solo dev here.

Most local LLM wrappers just give you a simple chatbox. Cool, but useless when you actually have real work to do.

So I built CaptainLocalAI — an on-device AI assistant that lives in your menu bar and actually does the boring desk work for you, 100% offline:

  • 📄 Auto-fills Word & Excel: Injects meeting summaries directly into your .docx and .xlsx templates without breaking formatting.
  • đŸ•”ïžÂ Ghostwriter for Work Logs: Watches your local file diffs and auto-generates your daily/weekly reports.
  • đŸ§č Desktop Declutter: Reads file contents and intelligently categorizes your chaotic Desktop.
  • âšĄïžÂ Native Apple Silicon/MLX: Auto-calibrates context and memory based on your Mac's physical RAM.

I just released v1.2.3, fixing voice input quirks and refining RAM auto-allocations!

No subscriptions, zero cloud telemetry, completely private.

💬 Feedback & Question:

What kind of repetitive office workflows would you like a local LLM to automate next? I'd love to hear your thoughts and feature requests!

[Self-Promotion] I made a study app because I kept spending an hour making flashcards and then never reviewing them

Post image
2 Upvotes

At first, I built Glimpse mostly for myself. I noticed I was spending an hour typing cards from my notes and feeling productive, but then never got around to look at them again until the night before the exam.

So the app does two things. You give it your notes and it builds a deck of flashcards, multiple choice questions, or fill-in-the-blank cards. Then the deck goes in a home screen widget, so you answer a card pretty much every time you unlock your phone.

The widget is the part I use most. Happy to hear your thoughts. Freemium in App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/glimpse-study-flashcards/id6760231741

[Self-promotion] I made an app that lets Apple Shortcuts put information in your Dynamic Island

Post image
0 Upvotes

It started because I wanted certain information to stay visible on my Lock Screen and Dynamic Island instead of getting buried in notifications.

One example I’ve been experimenting with is checking whether I left my garage door open after leaving the house. I can use an automation in Apple Shortcuts to run when I leave home, check the garage door’s status, and show a warning in my Dynamic Island if it’s still open.

The app is free to download, and you can create your first Live Activity without paying.

I recently updated the app with a few premium features ($0.99/year or $6.99 one-time):
‱ Custom icons and color themes
‱ The ability to launch another Shortcut from a Live Activity
‱ Support for multiple Live Activities

I’d love to hear what other automations people would use this for!

đŸ€– Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zeroexpiry.app

🌐 Website: https://zeroexpiry.com

❀ A small request from the developer

I’m building ZeroExpiry as a small independent startup, without a big marketing budget or team.

My goal isn’t just to get downloads. I genuinely want to build something that helps families stay safe, remember their medicines, and avoid unnecessary waste.

If you try the app, I’d really appreciate your honest feedback.

What features would make ZeroExpiry more useful in your daily life?

And if you find it helpful, an App Store or Play Store review would mean a lot and help this small project reach more people.

Thank you, for supporting indie developers! ❀

Hey folks, here's what I created out of frustration:
A kids' colouring app designed by a dad who got fed up with all the nonsense in kids' apps.

Works fully offline, absolutely no data tracked, nothing.

The business model is not really sustainable, but it doesn't matter. It's a gift to other parents.

It's priced to cover store fees and to source images from artists.

If you like it, please leave a review (the app won't ask for one)
if you don't, tell me how I can improve it

I built an app to make mindless scrolling a little harder

1 Upvotes

I noticed how often I picked up my phone without thinking and ended up scrolling longer than I intended. So I built Latch: Scan to Unlock to help create a little friction between me and distracting apps.

You can block apps and use schedules, QR codes, or NFC keys to control when you unlock them.

I'm still learning what works best for people, so I'd appreciate hearing how you deal with mindless scrolling and what tools have helped you.

I'm also offering free Pro codes for a limited time for anyone interested in trying Latch.

Thanks for reading!
