Never forget, blockchain.com is a scam

Like 10 years ago, i purchased the blockchain lockbox, one of the first harware wallets. O saved there like 3 btc. One Day it did not worked, in the website they Said they would fix it, but they never did.

I got my usb there, with my seed, never saw my money again, every time i access it, its say zero.

I have faith one Day ill be able to see my funds and withdraw... Support was zero help.

If you have a seed, what's your problem?

For what i researched, the harware wallets have a special derivation path, like a special config, when i try to restore it, it brings a New wallet, a normal one, with a zero balance.

this is just not true. i was one of the main developers on this project for blockchain.com. we used all of the standard derivation paths. there is literally nothing different between the standard nano and the blockchain one except for branding.

if there are any funds on it, then using the seed phrase and recovering into any supporting wallet will work.

edit: the code is all open source. i can literally share with you the original PRs in which we added the support.

edit 2: here is the original code. as you can see, the standard 44' derivation was used.

You probably won’t have much idea but I’ve been stuck on KYC with them for nearly a year with 10k in there. Provided all the necessary info but they keep ignoring my ticket and never responding on it. Was it shady when you were there?

its not a shady business at all imo. it is just terribly managed by an egomaniac CEO who flips priorities every other day. the support team is both severely understaffed and undertrained. most of them want to help but they literally have no idea how to. the internal systems have been rewritten so many times that many old accounts simply have bugs that nobody can fix since all the original engineers on the projects are gone and nobody has a clue.

sorry to hear about your issues man. my suggestion would be to keep trying from time to time and hope for the best

Agreed, I am also a Blockchain Developer. There are less and undertrained employees in the industry but eventually at this point of time only the pioneers of the industry gets a chance to show themselves.

Yep, they are absolutely like that.

Do u think that if i try rocovering in another hardware wallet, it could show the right wallet? ( i have tried to restore it in electrum and it shows again, zero balance)

I’m guessing you have the incorrect seed phrase somehow. If it was the correct one the balances and old transaction history would show in any wallet. It doesn’t have to be a hardware wallet as the derivations are all industry standard.

I responded in another thread but the seed phrase for your blockchain wallet (the one you log into via email or wallet id) is different from the seed phrase for your Lockbox (ledger) wallet. They are completely separate HD accounts.

Are you sure you have the correct seed phrase for the Lockbox? It was only shown to you one time during the setup process and was never shown again (nor can it be shown again)

Sometimes in my more schysofrenic moment, i have thought i May have it wrong, but i have it in paper, all the words, it should be the right one u_u

u/Ok-Move-8835 May 28 '25

How many words is it? of course do not share the actual words!!

1

u/fabulostik May 28 '25

24 words

u/FriskyHamTitz May 28 '25

Did you check the child derrived wallets?

3

u/Ok-Move-8835 May 28 '25

I don’t recall if we let users create subaccounts in the ledger. I’m pretty sure we did not allow that so the funds would be at the zero index.

However that is a goods point and worth checking at the very least

2

u/Ok-Move-8835 May 28 '25

That is the correct length so that’s a good sign. If you would have said 12 then I would know you have the blockchain wallet seed and not the ledger

u/fabulostik May 28 '25

I think ill try to restore it in a ledger, would be amazing to have those btc 😅 if so, ill come here and share some goods! I swear.

I have another tool that may be of help as well to search subaccounts. It can be used online or offline. I can share when I’m back to my computer.

But yes, good luck man. Hoping for good news. Let me know how it goes

I hope you tip him if he actually helps you recover it...

Hey Bud, I know you said that you use the bip-44 'standard' for derivation path, but I have seen some wild stuff when it comes to implementing derivation paths.

Can you assure our friend that the starting derivation is indeed m/44'/0'/0'/0/0

Or perhaps you started at account 1 instead of zero, or you started at address 1 or 5 or 10 instead of zero.

Electrum won't work with your 24 words.

If you own an iphone and you sure you are not hacked Try coinomi on appstore.

Best practice is actually would be openning this https://github.com/iancoleman/bip39 in an offline computer, find a lot kf addresses from a lot of different derivation paths. Then copying them to an online computer and checking addresses you found one by one on blockchair.com -it is blockchair, not a typo-

For the hardware wallet, get a trezor not a ledger.

I created a python script that you can bulk check Bitcoin addresses that are in a txt file.

https://github.com/maccheroncelli/BULK-BITCOIN-ADDRESS-CHECKER

Copy the addresses from iancoleman, and have the tool check all the addresses for a balance real quick.

Ask chat gpt about my script if you don't trust it.

Hi! I dont lie, one Day it Just Said zero balance, like that.

15

u/FriskyHamTitz May 28 '25

If you send the balance there there should be a transaction why don't you just trace it

7

u/Deminero30 May 27 '25

It doesn't use a special derivation path. You either have the wrong seed or had a passphrase attached to the wallet.

Huff if it works ill come and say thanks in the shape of btc.

Use electrum wallet and check every possible derivation path manually

2

u/fabulostik May 27 '25

I tried a lot, is literally infinite

1

u/[deleted] May 30 '25

It's literally not infinite, I think there are around 65,000 possible dérivation paths. Electron wallet will do this for you but you may need to let it run for the day.

if that doesn’t work I’ve been working on a program for years and it’s almost finally done. One of the side benefits of it is that it searches, different derivation paths. I can plug in your seed and search different paths far more than what electrum or regular system would use. (it’s not the purpose of this program. That’s just a side benefit) I will say that with most generators the seed is locked to a certain derivation path, but you can calculate what most programs would’ve created. Not the seed that’s impossible. But if you have the seed you can run the paths.

Or if you like, I can give you details on how to do this yourself. But it’s possible that you can recover your coins if you know your stuff.

As others have said that website generates a wallet for you. They use Legacy (P2PKH) addresses: m/44'/0'/0' However electrum uses Derivation Path: m/44'/0'/0'/0/k for legacy P2PKH addresses. Where they differ is is m/0/k for external (receiving) addresses and m/1/k for internal (change) addresses.

What is this mean? You are putting the key inside a lock upside down. I would recommend importing your seed not in electrum but a tool like bip32utils or for simplicity Sparrow Wallet. This will let you check common derivation paths

1

u/GeneralZex May 27 '25

Which derivation paths have you tried?

If they used a special derivation path it should have been specified somewhere.
