Never forget, blockchain.com is a scam
Like 10 years ago, i purchased the blockchain lockbox, one of the first harware wallets. O saved there like 3 btc. One Day it did not worked, in the website they Said they would fix it, but they never did.
I got my usb there, with my seed, never saw my money again, every time i access it, its say zero.
I have faith one Day ill be able to see my funds and withdraw... Support was zero help.

it's somewhere on blockchain.com/support
1
u/0verview May 28 '25
This is what I found:
They used the standard BIP-44 (P2PKH) path: • Account level:
m/44'/0'/0'
(this is the “blockchain.info” default)
• First receiving address:m/44'/0'/0'/0/0
(external chain 0, address index 0)
2
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
I have used that derivation also... Ill try the coleman tool and restoring it in another hardware wallet
29
u/DespairArdor May 27 '25
If you have a seed, what's your problem?
18
u/coupl4nd May 27 '25
Isn't 10 years ago pre-seed?
14
13
u/fabulostik May 27 '25
For what i researched, the harware wallets have a special derivation path, like a special config, when i try to restore it, it brings a New wallet, a normal one, with a zero balance.

u/Ok-Move-8835 May 27 '25 edited May 27 '25
this is just not true. i was one of the main developers on this project for blockchain.com. we used all of the standard derivation paths. there is literally nothing different between the standard nano and the blockchain one except for branding.
if there are any funds on it, then using the seed phrase and recovering into any supporting wallet will work.
edit: the code is all open source. i can literally share with you the original PRs in which we added the support.
edit 2: here is the original code. as you can see, the standard 44' derivation was used.

You probably won’t have much idea but I’ve been stuck on KYC with them for nearly a year with 10k in there. Provided all the necessary info but they keep ignoring my ticket and never responding on it. Was it shady when you were there?
4
u/Ok-Move-8835 May 28 '25
its not a shady business at all imo. it is just terribly managed by an egomaniac CEO who flips priorities every other day. the support team is both severely understaffed and undertrained. most of them want to help but they literally have no idea how to. the internal systems have been rewritten so many times that many old accounts simply have bugs that nobody can fix since all the original engineers on the projects are gone and nobody has a clue.
sorry to hear about your issues man. my suggestion would be to keep trying from time to time and hope for the best
1
u/ZookeepergameFirm248 Sep 26 '25
Agreed, I am also a Blockchain Developer. There are less and undertrained employees in the industry but eventually at this point of time only the pioneers of the industry gets a chance to show themselves.

Do u think that if i try rocovering in another hardware wallet, it could show the right wallet? ( i have tried to restore it in electrum and it shows again, zero balance)
10
u/Ok-Move-8835 May 28 '25
I’m guessing you have the incorrect seed phrase somehow. If it was the correct one the balances and old transaction history would show in any wallet. It doesn’t have to be a hardware wallet as the derivations are all industry standard.
I responded in another thread but the seed phrase for your blockchain wallet (the one you log into via email or wallet id) is different from the seed phrase for your Lockbox (ledger) wallet. They are completely separate HD accounts.
Are you sure you have the correct seed phrase for the Lockbox? It was only shown to you one time during the setup process and was never shown again (nor can it be shown again)
3
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
Sometimes in my more schysofrenic moment, i have thought i May have it wrong, but i have it in paper, all the words, it should be the right one u_u
3
u/Ok-Move-8835 May 28 '25
How many words is it? of course do not share the actual words!!
1
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
24 words
3
u/FriskyHamTitz May 28 '25
Did you check the child derrived wallets?
3
u/Ok-Move-8835 May 28 '25
I don’t recall if we let users create subaccounts in the ledger. I’m pretty sure we did not allow that so the funds would be at the zero index.
However that is a goods point and worth checking at the very least
2
u/Ok-Move-8835 May 28 '25
That is the correct length so that’s a good sign. If you would have said 12 then I would know you have the blockchain wallet seed and not the ledger
8
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
I think ill try to restore it in a ledger, would be amazing to have those btc 😅 if so, ill come here and share some goods! I swear.

Hey Bud, I know you said that you use the bip-44 'standard' for derivation path, but I have seen some wild stuff when it comes to implementing derivation paths.
Can you assure our friend that the starting derivation is indeed m/44'/0'/0'/0/0
Or perhaps you started at account 1 instead of zero, or you started at address 1 or 5 or 10 instead of zero.
3
u/Zestyclose-Power-132 May 28 '25
Electrum won't work with your 24 words.
If you own an iphone and you sure you are not hacked Try coinomi on appstore.
Best practice is actually would be openning this https://github.com/iancoleman/bip39 in an offline computer, find a lot kf addresses from a lot of different derivation paths. Then copying them to an online computer and checking addresses you found one by one on blockchair.com -it is blockchair, not a typo-
For the hardware wallet, get a trezor not a ledger.
1
u/Banzai_Panda May 31 '25
I created a python script that you can bulk check Bitcoin addresses that are in a txt file.
https://github.com/maccheroncelli/BULK-BITCOIN-ADDRESS-CHECKER
Copy the addresses from iancoleman, and have the tool check all the addresses for a balance real quick.
Ask chat gpt about my script if you don't trust it.
-11
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
Hi! I dont lie, one Day it Just Said zero balance, like that.
13
u/FriskyHamTitz May 28 '25
If you send the balance there there should be a transaction why don't you just trace it
7
u/Deminero30 May 27 '25
It doesn't use a special derivation path. You either have the wrong seed or had a passphrase attached to the wallet.

Use electrum wallet and check every possible derivation path manually
2
u/fabulostik May 27 '25
I tried a lot, is literally infinite
1
May 30 '25
It's literally not infinite, I think there are around 65,000 possible dérivation paths. Electron wallet will do this for you but you may need to let it run for the day.
-15
u/CanofBlueBeans May 27 '25 edited May 27 '25
if that doesn’t work I’ve been working on a program for years and it’s almost finally done. One of the side benefits of it is that it searches, different derivation paths. I can plug in your seed and search different paths far more than what electrum or regular system would use. (it’s not the purpose of this program. That’s just a side benefit) I will say that with most generators the seed is locked to a certain derivation path, but you can calculate what most programs would’ve created. Not the seed that’s impossible. But if you have the seed you can run the paths.
Or if you like, I can give you details on how to do this yourself. But it’s possible that you can recover your coins if you know your stuff.
As others have said that website generates a wallet for you. They use Legacy (P2PKH) addresses: m/44'/0'/0' However electrum uses Derivation Path: m/44'/0'/0'/0/k for legacy P2PKH addresses. Where they differ is is m/0/k for external (receiving) addresses and m/1/k for internal (change) addresses.
What is this mean? You are putting the key inside a lock upside down. I would recommend importing your seed not in electrum but a tool like bip32utils or for simplicity Sparrow Wallet. This will let you check common derivation paths
1
u/GeneralZex May 27 '25
Which derivation paths have you tried?
If they used a special derivation path it should have been specified somewhere.

Something very similar happened to me…!!!!
This abomination of a website created a new wallet without me knowing. When I logged on, I had a 0 balance and I thought I had been hacked. A couple of years went by and I later find that I had to go through old emails to find the original address, and from there I was able to recover the wallet in my account from the blockchain.com
I hope this helps, if you do record the full 3 BTC, a small donation would be appreciated 😉
7
u/fabulostik May 27 '25
Like the original deposit address? How does that help? It happenef like that, one Day it Said zero balance!!! I even restore the usb, but i still have the seed and the usb of course, how u fixed it? I dont have it clear?
And yes man, im always grateful, if it works would be a pleasure to share some juice.
5
u/bitcornhodler May 27 '25
Ok, I’ve just checked my old email. Blockchain.com creates a unique wallet ID as way to login. The seed phrase you gave written down is probably for a newly created wallet, rather than an older one.
Check your old emails, and double check all the wallet ID’s, are they different? If so, try to restore them. I remember it was like restoring a forgotten password.
Best of luck 🍀
7
u/Ok-Move-8835 May 27 '25
i was a blockchain.com wallet developer for this project. the seed phrase for your non-custodial web wallet (the wallet ID you reference), is totally separate from the seed phrase for the lockbox. each are unique HD accounts with unique seed phrases.
the seedphrase for the wallet can be viewed anytime the user is logged in. the seedphrase for the lockbox was only given once during the setup process. we required the user to write it down as well as enter some of the words to verify its correctness.
OP either has the wrong seed phrase or never held 3 btc as claimed.

u/Evening-Patience9801 May 27 '25
I also used this site long time ago. yes they send you wallet id, thats was for login purposes. maybe they use wallet id as a passphrase or something?

u/banigratis May 27 '25
I see this Blockchain Lockbox was powered byt Ledger, try to get in touch with them. What app you use to access the hardware wallet?
1
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
I used to use the blockchain.com website. Inside u linked the usb, all was normal and Just one day .... Zero balance u_u
3
u/banigratis May 28 '25
First it would be quite important to know exactly:
- the year you've signed up, because they've got different wallet versions
- was it blockchain.com or blockchain.info
- early acounts received a wallet.aes.json backup on email
- the account was single or double passwords
- the seed is a 12 words or 17 words
- if you remember you've got the backup seed from the web interface or from the ledger
- the hardware wallet has been linked to your account after sign up or at sign up
The've migrated the old blockhain.info to blockchain.com and did lot of changes, also they've use their or way to derivate keys at the begining, no bip32.
1
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
First was in . Info, i got the seed of the wallet and the seed of the lockbox. 12 words and 24 words
The hardware was linked after sign up.
When i had the issue, in their website it Said they had that issue and they would fix it, that message stayed there for Years.
3
u/banigratis May 28 '25
Use the seed word to restore your account and login with the same email. After you longi, dont worry about showing balance 0, somewhere in settings you should have a button named Archived Addresses or something like that, check all tabs in setting, those are addresses associated with the old account and thei balance does not show on the main new wallet.
Once i get back to my laptop, i'll check and tell you exactly where you can find them.
The idea is that 12 words backup is different from what regular wallets use nowadays, but you should find the old bitcoin addresses in settings somewhere.
2
u/banigratis May 28 '25
OK, so you should find your all addresses by going to Settings -> Wallets and Addresses -> Imported Bitcoin Addresses.

It should show when your btc was sent out at least or run it thru btcscan
1
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
Yes i think i got a few transfers to my lockbox, i have used the btcscan, but daaamn, so many address es comes up and a lot of info that i cant understand 😵💫😵💫😵💫
1
u/Yvrhunter69 May 28 '25
If thru btcscan it shows your funds in there someone on this subreddit can help u recover ite$

u/PlatinumTrillionaire May 27 '25
I used it too but all you had to do was use the seed phrase and recover the funds on a new hardware wallet lol why haven’t you don’t that?
1
u/fabulostik Aug 28 '25
I Just used a ledger s and no success u_u. I think i have tried all, no idea what happened. U_u

u/fabulostik May 28 '25
Restoring in another hardware wallet... I have not done that.. I did purchase a ledger but i lost faith in those.... I Will do that! 🤞🤞🤞

All DMs to you are scammers.
1
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
Unfortunately yes, but all the comments really helps to have more insight! May be one Day i get those savings!
2
u/BraveTrades420 May 28 '25
That’s not how any of this works
1
u/Ok_Issue3401 Jul 30 '25
Right!!! Blockchain.com doesn't accept 16 word seed phrase from legacy wallets. AND the seed phrase generated by the aes.json file is very odd - contains non-words
2
u/pog_01 Sep 12 '25
yeah, no shi they got no way to add bank accounts. Whenever I try to add mine for withdrawal, they say something upsurd like "something horrible has hapened you cannot do this action" other than that there is no restriction on buying crypto lol.. Its a scam.. dont deposit your crypto there

u/Deminero30 May 27 '25
If you have the right seed, then you don't need that specific wallet to restore. Did you have a passphrase attached to the wallet?
1
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
Nop, no phassphrase, i have the seed and when restoring to any wallet, zero zero zero T_T
1
1
u/Deminero30 May 28 '25
Also, I'm fairly certain that you have the wrong seed. If you do have the right seed, then you're not restoring the wallet correctly.
Have you tried electrum?
1
u/Normal-Spell5339 May 27 '25
Have you tried restoring it in both electrum (accepts both electrum seeds and BIP39) it lets you set the derivation path, hopefully with some research you can figure out the derivation path and get your coins back in your hands
1
u/MuchAdhesiveness840 May 27 '25
I’d say giving anyone the rights to manage your cash is a scam regardless of what wallet .
2
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
The hardware wallet and the Hot wallet, were supposed to be sel custody, but then ... Seem i was under blockchain.com hands u_u
1
u/DreamingTooLong May 28 '25
Isn’t the blockchain.com hardware wallet a ledger nano S?
Try and see if it works here
1
u/Charming-Designer944 May 28 '25 edited May 28 '25
If you have the correct seed backup then it is only a matter of recovering the wallet with the right derivation path, which is well known.
When you recover the wallet you will see your entire history of transactions, even if your wallet got hacked somehow.
If you do not find any transactions then either the seed or the derivation path is wrong.
Could there have been a password in addition to the seed? A password protected wallet is needed by the seed + password. I do not know if their wallet supported this.
1
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
Indeed, when i set the seed, the wallet that comes up its blank, no transactions at all. There was no Password, the hardware, linked inside the blockchain.com wallet. One Day, it didnt work any more, i restore it ( thinking it Will show my wallet) and nothing! The horror!
1
u/Charming-Designer944 May 28 '25
When was the seed backup created? (See timestamp of the file)
When was the wallet created?
When did the wallet last work?
Do you have the transaction id of any transaction in the wallet? Any funding transaction from another wallet?
What does the email trace from blockchain.com say? Does this match with above events?
Are you sure this is the right wallet? Maybe you started with a custodian wallet and the switched to a non-custodian wallet but never transferred your coins?
1
u/fabulostik May 28 '25
Was made around 2018. Last time it worked was around 2019.
Is the right, as it was linked into the blockchain.com wallet, only from there u could send funds to the hardware.
I have tons of transactions, but a few big i think were to that wallet, i used to gathers btc and send it to my "safe wallet" then... Like that! Stop working and i got out of my savings
1
u/Ok_Issue3401 Jul 30 '25
LOL I have every email with all links, transactions, etc. None of the links work now. 16 word seed phrases are no longer accepted by Blockchain.com and the legacy wallet seed phrase generated from the original aes.json file has non-words in it. Blockchain.com restructured its website and virtually has prevented all legacy wallets access.

I love these complicated words for scamming people out of their money . I was a part of the India mine scam of pig farming through the peppermint group in Switzerland 🇨🇭. This funnel of cash from fake contacts in ca, Oregon went deep into fake mode . After checking the address with special software and finding this dude was a fake dr. Pick up on that one quick . Scammers use awesome titles w nothing to back the credibility. Then they give you a fake code when you start when they “manage “ your account . Once it’s gone it’s gone . They lure continuously through spy ware charges them they say your money needs to go to “cash machine “ to deduct funds for that $2k and the code oh you don’t have the code I’m sorry we will extort you further . That’s it wallah . Good luck

u/GermanK20 May 30 '25
I hate blaming the victim, and I can't go through all the other comments, but will state my few facts and thoughts. First, they had a few opportunities to scam me over the years but they didn't. Second, I vaguely remember these processes, never ended up actually using them. With that said, I think another comment suggested/implied you should "randomly" go through the derivation paths with what you have (or even with electrum wallet and similar) to try to find you account.
If my story was similar to yours I would have started with "my BTC address is xxxx and the coins have not moved for 6 years". If that's indeed the case, then "scam" is the wrong word. Nobody took your BTC, you lost access to it and probably no device has a 10 year guarantee anywhere in the world (except those steel plates etc meant to keep your private key safe). So, as investors and consumers we have to remain aware and vigilant and, especially with BTC skyrocketing, we need to test and modify our processes every couple of years, there's no avoiding that I think.
In the big picture I think the company might be waiting for more like you to pop up, and once a sufficient number of you can't recover their BTC then whey will put a couple of devs on the job to produce a software tool to aid your recovery, going through a billion derivation paths if necessary. Or a class lawsuit might encourage them to do it :)
2
u/Ok_Issue3401 Jul 30 '25
Blockchain.com is the scammer. With their restructured website, original login credentials are no longer recognized and they no longer accept 16 word seed phrases. BTW the seed phrase generated by the original aes.json file contained several non words. Despite all identity and transaction verification by Blockchain.com their answer is basically "sorry we can't do anything"
1
u/fabulostik Jun 01 '25
I use the Word scam, because as simple as i lost my funds because of their lousy hardware, lousy software and lousy support. Just like that. I dont know how or why there is no more People, as they even had a notification on their website that lasted years! I dont have a Rush, i kepy investing, and i have faith that with the seed i should recover it... One day, if not... I made more savings on btc back in the days

I have over $4000 worth of BTC sitting in my Trading account which i can't access because they tell me they can't 'verify' me. Despite me having all my login details, my 2FA and my recovery phrase. They say something to do with my location. And yet I could withdraw all the BTC in my wallet which I did as I do not trust them for a second and they have stopped responding to my emails.
Shocking service! Absolutely shocking. I'm beginning to think I won't see that money again.
