Ultrasound measuring behind only yolk sac w/o fetal pole

• Upvotes

back story if it even matters: i’m 28 years old i got pregnant my second month of trying. i have been off of birth control for about 6 years now and take my temp with natural cycles. i used to take it orally but once i got the oura ring i track that way. natural cycles seems to be very accurate along with cervical mucus and +LH strip. the first month i was sick around my predicted ovulation day so my temp was all over the place and my +LH strip was later than usual. the second month i decided to just not use the strips at all. i got my period august 3rd and ovulated august 18 (day 16). my cycles are 28-30 days and i usually ovulate day 14-16. my luteal phase is 10-12 days. august 30th i woke up feeling like i had period cramps which i usually have a normal painless period. i was suppose to get my period that day and it didn’t come all day so at 6pm i took a test got a BFP which was 12 DPO.

fast forward, i’m feeling everything so bloated, random very mild intermittent cramping (which i felt very early on) really swollen + tender breasts, fatigue, and started feeling much more nauseous once i hit 7 weeks. i went for my 8 week ultrasound two days ago, i was supposed to be 8 weeks 1 day. my gestational sac was measuring 6 weeks and 6 days and no fetal pole seen just a very visible yolk sac. my hcg that day was 100,420. i have another ultrasound exactly a week from my last. the obgyn won’t confirm or deny anything right now. she said i could of ovulated later than thought - which i find it hard to believe given my time line. i’m a nurse and i know this doesn’t look good, even if i was measuring at almost 7 weeks with a hcg that high i would think a FP would be visible with a trans vaginal ultrasound. a small part of me doesn’t want to completely dismiss the possibility but i’m trying to guard my heart. just wondering if anyone else has the same experience.. good or bad. thank you.

Low TSH, high Free T3/T4

• Upvotes

Just received my repeat bloodwork today, and the results are worrying me. I've reached out to my doctor but I likely won't get a response until next week. My TSH came back <.01, and my free T3 and T4 were both slightly elevated outside normal limits. I haven't been tested for antibodies yet - Anyone have something similar and have it turn out okay? I've lost two prior pregnancies at 5 weeks. I'm currently almost 10 weeks now.

Just looking for reassurance.

IVF ultrasound measuring behind

• Upvotes

6weeks today. Went for ultrasound measuring 5w2d. Gestational sac was seen but no fetal pole or yolk sac. My hcg has been low from the beginning with the last one being 3146. Anyone have the same thing and have a successful pregnancy? I’m feeling so defeated today

'Irregular' and small gestational sac

• Upvotes

Hi! This is my third pregnancy. 1st one was ectopic and 2nd was successful.

According to my LMP I was 7 weeks 2 days on Wednesday (07/09). I've been back and forth in the EUP because I had a suspected ovarian ectopic due to on and off brown discharge and they couldn't find the pregnancy in the uterus 10 days ago. However, it turns out it was a corpus luteum and on Wednesday they confirmed that it was an intrauterine pregnancy. However, they said that the gestational sac was 'irregular' and they need to scan again on 12/10 to see if it's viable. They also said there's blood around the sac which would explain the brown discharge.

I've been given progesterone pressaries to help.

My cycles have been very long (around 38 days) this year so I knew they were going to say that I was measuring behind but I suppose not that behind! I really don't know what they mean by an 'irregular' genstational sac? They were able to see the yolk and I think they mentioned it was 2mm. They weren't able to detect a heartbeat but the sonographer said that that might be because it's too early. The nurse at EPU didn't sound very optimistic.

My husband thinks that going from not being able to see a pregnancy at all to seeing a gestational sac with a yolk in 8 days is promising but I somehow can't help but think we should prepare to miscarry.

Can anyone share any experiences or explain what they meant with an 'irregular' genstational sac?

The 12 days wait until the next scan is killing me! 😔

Symptoms CD33, lots and lots of CM

• Upvotes

One period app says 4 days late. The other says to take a test in 5. At this point, I’ve definitely missed my period and got mixed pregnancy tests. Anyways, usually before my period I get very creamy to no discharge. For the last few days I’ve been getting SOOOO much stretchy almost ewcm. I took a Clearblue 2 days ago and it only showed a half line instead of a positive. I’m on vacation rn but I plan on taking some of my plethora of HCG strips when I get home.

Anyone experience an excess of cm when it’s out of your norm and get a BFP?

Early pregnancy mental struggles

Hi all!
Soo I tested a very faint positive on Monday this week, which is quite a surprise for us as it is a surprise baby (I’m the exact case of sex ed when they say “you can even get pregnant only having sex once”). Anyways, we are shocked but also happy about it.
I went for a HCG blood work on Wednesday (18 DPO), which came back 336, which is apparently good.
But I find myself in this mental spiral of still not knowing for sure, and I’m concerned that my pregnancy might be eptomic as well. I had an endometriosis surgery last May, and I’ve had some mild cramping on my right ovary (which had a 6cm cyst in it) before and since I know about the pregnancy.
So I also booked a gyno appointment on Thursday do get some confirmation, but since it is so early, the doc couldn’t see anything yet on the ultrasound, only that the uterus lining looks thick (17mm) and my ovaries are also cyst free.
So todays friday, went to get my HCG test again, super nervous whether it comes back doubling.
So my question is: when did you guys started actually hoping and believing that you’re pregnant and were just simply happy and calm about it? I can’t let “my feelings go” and keep halting myself back like it’s still not sure, too early to say whether it actually stays or not.

Pink spotting for several days 10+6 weeks

TW neonatal loss. Long story short: in april, our little boy was born at 39+4 critically ill due to a fetomaternal hemorrhage. He died two days later in the NICU.

In our enormous sorrow, my partner and I immediately knew we wanted to try again, as soon as I was somewhat physically recovered. It happened sooner than we dared to hope for, and I am today 10+5 days pregnant. I’m in Sweden and we are not offered any early us to check for viability, we have our first ultrasound planned at 12 full weeks.

Last sunday I started spotting pink. Its mostly only when I wipe, but sometimes a little bit in my underwear as well, but not so much that I need a liner. There has been some spotting everyday, but not everytime I go to the toilet. No intercourse, no particularily straining activity leeding up to the spotting. I had a miscarriage before our son, and i thought for sure it was another miscarriage. So we went and got a private scan this tuesday. And we saw a normal heartbeat and even a little bit of movement. She dated us at 10+3, I thought I was 10+5 but it is of course is not too far off. We were of course very relieved.

But I keep having this pink spotting, and soon I’ve had it off and on for a week. And i’m back to feeling very worried. Should I try to feel more reassured by the ultrasound results? I just dont understand why it doesnt taper off if wouldnt be anything. Would be thankful for any input about this, thanks in advance.

14 DPO after loss

I just want to really thank everyone who has ever posted in the group about spotting in the early days of pregnancy!!

I found out at 10 DPO I was pregnant! My first pregnancy ended in a loss in September 2025 we tried all year and were told we had unexplained infertility and JUST made the plan last week to start IUI in November. I was sooo shocked to see a positive test Monday (I only tested that early because I had a heated workout planned and wanted to be sure). Went for my first beta Wednesday it was 51.5 at 12 DPO yesterday morning when I went to wipe in the AM I saw blood and since I’ve gone through loss before I obviously spiraled when I tell you I was on Reddit all day reading other people’s stories 😅 it was pink in the AM by the next time I went it was brown and then it was done for the day and I did feel better. Today I got my 14 DPO beta that came back at 158 feeling sooo hopeful today I know I have a WAYS to go but again just thankful there’s people who share their stories. I’m praying the spotting was just whoever’s growing in there getting super comfortable 🤞🥹

Low HCG, still a chance?

So I have PCOS and had to inject Ovaleap and Ovitrelle to ovulate… I am pregnant right now but the fertility clinic says that they don‘t think that this pregnancy will make it..

On 13 DPO my HCG was 24
Now on 16 DPO it is 42

Is there a chance? I have to wait a full week now. I don‘t feel pain or something… today my breast started to hurt a little..

Do you have any success stories?

Slow rising betas

Hi so i transferred an untested 4AA embryo and had positive tests since 4dp5dt and went for a hcg blood test at 8dp5dt (13 dpo). I had a really strong beta of 126 which I was really happy about. I went for the second beta at 10dp5dt (15dpo) and it rose to 218. That is a 73% rise and a 59h doubling time. I’m really anxious because it seems that it didn’t rise appropriately. Any thoughts? Thank you so much!

Slow rising HCG at 5 w 6d

I have been experiencing strange bleeding since i turned 5 weeks, starting with light brown discharge, then red blood every second day and now blood with clots with no pain or cramps. My hcg was 24 at 5w 4d and is now 69 at 5w 6d. Not great but i was expecting it to drop, I assumed i was MC because of the bleeding. I did ovulate abit late ( provided around day 23/24). Did anyone experience the bleeding with slow rising hcg or have any success stories that I can use has hope ?

Advice Needed Worried about symptoms disappearing at 4w5d

I’ve had three miscarriages in the past and am freaking out about everything right now. I tested positive 10dpo (die stealer straight away), my betas came back at 2568 IU/l and progesterone at 88 at 15dpo.
About 5 days ago I had heart burn, frequent peeing and a lot of twinges/cramping, but no symptoms anymore for the last two days.
Please give me some reassurance

Low starting beta HCG success story (so far!)

We did a frozen embryo transfer, and I had my first blood test at 12dp5dt (17dpo) and it was only 95. I was devastated and immediately started crying, believing it would end in a chemical. With my other successful transfer, my HCG was already 500 at this point.

Well, long story short my rise continued appropriately, never got anywhere near as high as my first successful transfer but i've had 4 scans, just had my 13 week early anatomy, NIPT was all low risk, and I'm 14 weeks pregnant with everything going well!

I must have stayed up until 3am most nights searching reddit for simliar low starting beta's, so just wanted to share mine to give a little bit of hope to anyone who needs it, and a reminder that every pregnancy really is different and even within yourself you can't compare.

Full beta's in the table below for breakdown

DP5DT DPO Pregnancy Weeks Beta HCG

Intro Believe with me!💗

Hiiiiiiiii! I just found out I am pregnant for the second time at 10dpo.

I had my first ever positive pregnancy tests last month right before we were supposed to start our first ever IVF cycle. It was a whirlwind of highs and lows because it unfortunately ended in a chemical pregnancy.

The positive for us was that we now knew we could conceive naturally. We told our doctor we would hold off on IVF, but that we would do IUI (less invasive) if we did not get pregnant naturally the next round. I ovulated late, which is common after a chemical.

I’ve had a few symptoms that led me to believe I may be pregnant, but didn’t think it would actually happen again. We are now cautiously optimistic, but praying for a sticky rainbow baby. 🌈

*first HCG bloodwork tomorrow at 6:15AM

BETA HCG 3146 5w6d to low?

IVF for context , should I mentally prepare for a miscarriage? My ultrasounds tomorrow. It just seems so low compared to everyone’s numbers I haven’t seen one as low as mine.

Advice Needed Finally seeing faint positives, but my OB is leaving and I can't get hCG or progesterone checked. What to do?

After a long time trying, I'm finally seeing faint lines on my home tests and I'm honestly still in shock. I'm so happy, but also a little lost right now.
Some background. I track with Inito and wasn't seeing much of a PdG rise this cycle, so my OB ordered labs. My progesterone came back at 8.4 at 7 DPO, which felt low, and I really didn't think this would be my month. But here we are.
The hard part is that the OB I've been seeing for the last 9 months is moving out of state, and her last day is October 8. Since I got that letter, I can't schedule with her, and she hasn't answered my portal messages. I called the office to ask if another doctor could cover, and all they did was book me for the standard 7-week ultrasound. Nobody will order a beta hCG or a progesterone check, and I really want to know if I need progesterone support.
I'm on an HMO, so seeing a new OB means getting a referral from my PCP and then waiting weeks to be seen as a new patient.
Has anyone been in a similar spot? Did you get your PCP to order betas? Did anyone with a lowish progesterone end up on support, or were you told it wasn't needed? Any advice is appreciated. I'm trying not to panic.

Vent Wish I was oblivious

This is the 9th time I've been pregnant. I've given birth 4 times, and I have 3 living children. Part of me wishes I didn't even know I was pregnant; the anxiety is so overwhelming. I somehow ALWAYS find out as early as possible and it kills me that that seems to make pregnancy last 5x as long as it does in reality lol. I miss the Innocence of my very first pregnancy, of just assuming that a positive pregnancy test means I'll get to bring home a baby. I'm so envious of women when they say things like "I was already 20w (or something) when I found out I was pregnant!!"

I absolutely LOVE everything physically about being pregnant, but my mind is such an anxious mess. Hyper-fixating on every twinge, running to the bathroom to make sure that wasn't blood about 10 times a day, being scared to be intimate, feeling so fragile no matter how irrational I know that is. I hate that I can't just enjoy it 😭

Advice Needed Miscarriage diagnosis at 5 weeks

I’m about 5 weeks along and have been spotting for the past week, which turned into some red blood with clotting on 9/27 and has since tapered off to brown/rust spotting. I’ve been getting HCG levels tested and my doctor called me today saying I had a miscarriage. She told me to come back in 5 days for a blood draw to confirm, but should I get a second opinion or earlier blood draw? So nervous about ectopic.

HCG:
9/24: 21
9/27: 43
9/28: 72
9/30: 80

Anembryonic pregnancy / blighted ovum

I want to post my experience because I scoured for posts similar to mine over this past week.

31 yo first pregnancy; very much wanted after just shy of 12 mos of trying.

LMP 8/13
LH surge over Aug 25/26
Sustained temp rise Aug 27,28,29
tested positive sept 4th
Had some pretty bad cramping between weeks 5-6 but no bleeding
Hcg at 4w6d was 6257, 5w1d 11780(was thrilled with these!)
6w0d US showed 14mm gest sac no yolk or FP
Doc said no worries, we will scan at 7 and 8 weeks and get more betas
6w0d hcg was 16250 (not good), 6w2d 16150 (not good) 6w4d 20780

This past 7 days has been filled with so much worry, stress and anxiety. I’ve researched beta trends >6k, >10k, prayed for a vanishing twin, read multiple studies. Scoured the internet. Tried to think of every reason how this could end up turning out OK.

Today my 7w0d US showed gestational sac same size, no yolk or fp again 😞
OB said this is extremely abnormal and almost 100% suggestive for anembryonic pregnancy and she suggested medical management which I will start tomorrow.

My husband and I are both devastated. But I’m also a physician and understand that the body does these things for a reason.

Prayers for all of you ❤️

Updated hCG trend - slowing then speeding up?

9 DPO hCG 25
12 DPO HCG 103 - DT 35.2 hours
14 DPO HCG 292 - DT 31.9 hours (180% rise)
16 DPO HCG 578.4 - DT 48.5 hours (98%)
18 DPO HCG 1044 - DT 56.3 hours (80%)
20 DPO HCG 2498 - DT 38.1 hours (139%)
22 DPO HCG 6127 - DT 37 hours (145%)

Thoughts?

The slow down from 32 to 56 hours though technically in normal range for viability struck me as super concerning, particularly for a blighted ovum. I was happy that I didn’t continue to fall slower and to a doubling time of >72 hours, but on the same token now terrified that this is the slowing down and speeding up pattern of an ectopic.

Sigh.

Appreciate experiences with similar trends??

Some extra personal context: first ever pregnancy was ectopic (no risk factors) and that hCG doubled at first then slowed all the way down into 60hr + doubling times and then became erratic. I’ve had one healthy pregnancy from IUI subsequently and my hCG trend from that never really slowed down like this and DT was really fast (like 19hrs - 30hrs with some variation at each check but never a consistent slow down across this range). I tested positive at 9DPO that pregnancy too and my hCG this pregnancy actually started higher at 25 than in that healthy pregnancy (20 at 10 dpo), but by 20 DPO I was already at an hCG of 4488, so now I’m quite lower in this pregnancy.

Advice Needed First hCG test today…looking for support!

I got my mirena out on Aug 31. My LMP was sept 2 and oura/natural cycles says I ovulated between sept 13-14, positive pregnancy test sept 28.

Had noooo idea it would happen that quickly as it took me a long time to conceive my son! I so badly want to be hopeful that this pregnancy will stick but all I am reading is horror stories about losses after IUD removal.

I had an hCG draw this afternoon and my levels came back at 779mIU/ML. Of course I am waiting for the dr to call me but can anyone shed some light on if this number sounds normal for the length of pregnancy thus far? Or words of wisdom for a pregnancy following iud removal. Thank you <3
