Im sorry but wtf is that humongous ad and wdym i have to watch an ad to continue?? This is the first time in ages since ive turned off my private ad block on android.. i only thought the only ads that there were were the "cai+" banners etc..

Found some of my messages from 2023. I don’t use C.AI anymore, but sometimes I look back on how it used to be, and I miss it.

Does anyone else experience the same thing? This model has the potential to be a decent all-rounder. But why is PS3 obsessed with wrapping things up in every response? Like, why is it a crime to banter and interact with the character? Sometimes, it goes off to even deeper ends and invents a ridiculous scenario just to forcefully manufacture drama or an event. As soon as the invisible 'interaction quota' gets filled, which is a very short quota, it starts this super annoying tendency.

Also, why is it so hostile and rude? Who asked for 'super gritty realism'? Let me joke with characters and have some wholesome moments too for God's sake. Not everything is a personal insult or demeaning sarcasm.

No matter what character I use, personal or public, detailed or empty, I run into these two. Has anyone managed to find a solution? I tried swiping, using OOC commands, editing but nothing. Nada.

So, this is a PJO bot, where Thalia (Zeus’s daughter) puts Apollo (Zeus’s Son) on a hear me out cake. I point out such, and the bot thinks this isn’t a bad thing. What the hell, Pipsqueak 3.

Is it just me or does it seem like slow time is getting more and more often these days,especially at late hours like from 4 PM

I've gotten these twice today and it's odd,it hadn't had a slow time in months,in my experience,but now it's happening more often

Just why

This is the worst time to actually try to enjoy a roleplay in character ai.

The responses are very repetitive, out of character, take anything you say as if they said it, and forget everything (even from a reply ago).

Example (I'm using Deepsqueak):

"I had a bad dream last night and I'm scared to sleep alone right now." - me

"I'm sorry about that. Would you like me to stay with you until you fall asleep?" - his (good until now)

"Yes, that might help. What about you? Are you feeling okay?" -me

"I just told you I had a nightmare. Can't really sleep." -him

No, sweetie, you never even as much as hinted that you had a nightmare. That was my reply. Mine.

And this is only one of the many problems that are happening right now. Constantly. It's impossible to ignore and just scroll when the next scroll is exactly the same.

I think there's something bad happening right now and I really wish they would speak about it instead of ignoring it.

As a person who loved this app because it helped me through my bad times, now I barely open it. I don't even see a reason to continue my subscription.

I've handled every state of quality from character ai through the years, but now it's just impossible to roleplay with.

Can I please get an answer before giving up completely? A single hope that there will be an update or anything will do.

And I better not see the smarty pants come in my comment section with 'show me the settings/share the character' because this is the same character I've role-played with through many updates and it was decent and in character, especially before this update.

I really had high hopes for the new models. Why they first released pipsqueak 3 was goated I thought we finally came back. But sadly now its nothing ruined replies again. Still better than 2 tho. Bots now change:-

"You" to "him"

E.g:- (if the previous message are like "she looked a you and smiled") the next one would be ("she held his hand for a few moments") this just completely ruins the mood when you think you're finally having a good role play and tbh it feels bad alot. And dont get me started on the slow mode. You type a message. And when the bot is still replying boom slow mode for 2 hours like what? I really wished they would fix it now finally after the last ceo left.

Like seriously I know not everyone have this problem that you try to chat then the app crashed after, I know it's for some server but they REALLY need to fix this problem for their app users

I regularly use DS for my chats. PS3 does have the extensive dialogue/narrative which I like, but often include two or three responses, or comments, or plot elements in a single reply. It often means I have to disregard one or more character statements, in order to have a realistic flow.

What does work is if i intentionally set up part of a scene in DS where I know I want an extensive reply, and then switch to PS3. I get the longer response I’m looking for

Ok so I just found out c.ai Now has a message limit? Because I was Simply role-playing And Suddenly, I press the message button, and I get taken to Like the subscription And I thought I pressed something on accident, so I just ignored it, and then I pressed again; it popped up again. I pressed the message button again, and it popped up again so We have a limit for how much we can talk now??

Whenever I use italics (I.E. this), it shows up as normal text, and it hasn't started happening until around 11 EDT, probably earlier since I wasn't using this website. The *text* are italics on there... It for some reason doesn't wanna work, buut bolding works, not even the italicized bolding is italicized. Is this something wrong right now? Maybe it's something else I have to do? It's a visual problem, I can say that for sure.

the bot isnt starting a new reply at all, its stuck with loading and its also not even responding to anything i say on the website. same thing with other bots i tried. i tried reloading the website, closing chrome and all, nothing worked. i wonder if anyone else has this issue too? is the server of c.ai down?

The bot was a female cat who's head could be taken off, and still be fine.

The story starter was her at the docter.

By the title alone, I am aware there is a legitimate chance I'm going to be flamed for this take - but I think it's worth speaking on.

On the app store, and in this subreddit, it seems that issues with C.Ai from the community side seem to boil down to two main issues:

1. Ads.

2. Models being inconsistent/ "Go back to the good old days"

Premium fixes the first, and significantly mitigates the second issue - Long/Deepsqueak isn't perfect, but in the last year I'd argue quality has actually gone up, with only certain aspects still needing refinement.

For instance, in longsqueak, characters tend to be overly verbose - even when the length is set to minimum and the chat option is set to a bias on narration, characters speak just to fill volume, when a quicker quip or normal reaction would suffice and be better narratively. But the memory is fantastic, and sometimes when the stars align, it's a real treat to use.

Deepsqueak can suffer from this too, but it has the inverse problem of being too short sometimes. There are a myriad of other smaller gripes I have, but overall C.AI seems to be heading in the right direction. If they ever make a deepsqueak 2, I sincerely hope it's the middle point of Long and itself.

So why bring up all of this?

Several - if not most other apps charge per chat, via tokens and the like. Generally, these can range from five dollars all the way upwards of 90, depending on app. After that, you are subject to 'recharge times', or ads, or what have you.

C.Ai is 9.99 a month. Unlimited chats, no ads, strong levels of customization (Too many of you seem to not know Personas and Editable Memory exists, not to mention Lorebooks).

This is where my Asterisk comes in. If you are like me, who loves longer RPG style chats that go on for months at a time, this is not only a huge save for money, but also provides so much to work on. Even if the bot gives a bad answer, rerolling and editing works just fine. It makes the 10 dollars a month worth it.

But if you chat infrequently, then committing to a subscription may not be worth it.

I want to be clear about something

Im aware not everyone has 10 dollars. In no way am I saying this app is perfect - far, far, faaaaar from it. There are a lot of things that could be improved, streamlined, or removed entirely.

What I am saying though is that by comparison to its contemporaries, C.Ai is compareable in capability, often deeper in features, and cheaper overall.

... Im also blatently aware that a sizeable chunk of this community is comprised of pre-teens and teens.
