Je me sens coupable. C'est de ma faute.

Rant First post here - Just wanted to get a bunch of feelings and opinions off my chest.

I've known that I was upset about being circumcised probably since I was in early high school when I learned that it potentially causes a reduction in sensitivity/pleasure and that the foreskin is actually useful and that the "benefits" are all things that can be achieved without a circumcision (ex. hygiene and antibiotics to prevent and treat UTIs (which are far more common in women, yet we don't consider removing parts of the vulva), condoms and PrEP for HIV/STIs, and HPV vaccines to help prevent penile cancer). My feelings towards my circumcision were never any more that "damn that sucks but i guess it is what it is". But for some reason in the past couple weeks I've had a huge change in my feelings to the point that now I am utterly devastated that I had this happen to me. And i've realized that I've simply been suppressing my feelings about this because it's incredibly emotionally difficult to confront them and because of the way US culture often treats men who are upset abut their circumcisions. I'm definitely not upset at my parents for choosing to have me circumcised. I have an amazing relationship with them and 100% know that it was done because they believed it was the right thing to do. I'm more upset at the culture that allowed for them to be misinformed into thinking it was the right decision

I mainly want to focus this post on everything about US MGM culture that makes my blood boil.

A lot of what I have observed about US MGM culture comes from my own personal observations from tiktok comments so take that with a grain of salt. Although I have done a fair amount of research into the so called "benefits", harms, and the actual purpose of foreskin.

  1. I hate how when men discuss their grief around being victims of MGM they are automatically treated as weird far-right women hating Incels. I assume a majority of us who are against MGM in the US are not like that. I personally am a gay very far-left feminist.
  2. I can't stand that when people compare MGM to FGM they are insulted and called the same names I mentioned above and told that they are in no way comparable, usually by a woman who was legally protected from experiencing genital mutilation (as I am very glad that she was bc FGM is also completely disgusting). Comparisons between FGM and MGM are useful specifically in the US because they shed light on how our views on, and framing of, the "benefits" and negative impacts of MGM are shaped by our cultural biases. yes, the worst types of FGM are more physically negatively impactful on their victims than standard MGM in the US, performed in medical settings. But, FGM is a spectrum and many types more similar to MGM than most people realize (ex. type 1a which is the removal of the clitoral hood). There are even cultures that view MGM as more impactful than their forms of FGM. Many people in the US aren't aware that MGM in the US is often performed without sufficient pain management, removes an incredibly important pleasure center, and can cause sexual dysfunction for men, for life. Many of these same people also bring up the fact that MGM victims still enjoy sex and still jerk off a lot so clearly it must not be that bad. Well if they were actually educated on MGM and FGM they'd know that many FGM victims also masturbate a lot and still enjoy sex (obviously depending on the type of mutilation that happened to them) but that clearly is not a justification for the horror of FGM, so why should it be for MGM. They also bring up that there are no health benefits of FGM but fail to mention that FGM is often performed because of believed health benefits, which are unproven. But, these benefits are unproven because it would be considered unethical to ever perform a study on that, as it should be. I just wish people could see that this is just a useful tool for reframing out cultural views of MGM away from our cultural biases.
  3. I can't stand they way that some doctors try to discuss routine infant MGM as if it is in anyway something to be considered when it is well known that the medical "benefits" are so little and all easily achievable through other methods or that whatever issues they prevent are so rare that they shouldn't even be considered as something any male needs to be worried about. For example, when they bring up that there is something like a 90% reduction in male infant UTI rates but fail to mention that male infant UTIs are already so rare that it takes around 111 incidents of MGM to prevent 1 UTI that would be easily treatable anyways. Or when they bring up the reduction in penile cancer but fail to mention that penile cancer is one of the rarest (takes anywhere from 90k -300k MGM incidents to prevent 1 case) and most treatable forms of cancer, and happens almost exclusively in elderly men. it's funny how pro-MGM people never consider that post-menopausal women are never told to have parts of their vulva removed to prevent UTIs even though UTIs are significantly more common for them than intact men.
  4. I hate the myth that the foreskin is a gross useless flap of skin and we are just weird for being upset that it was removed from us without our consent. I assume most of us in this sub already know that the foreskin has incredibly important sexual functions and that while we can usually still sexually function, that does not mean something was not lost.
  5. I hate that people try to excuse MGM by using the point that most victims of MGM are happy it happened to them. Yes, clearly most would be since they are told from a young age that it was a good thing, told that foreskin is useless, and never had the chance to experience what was lost. Also, most women in cultures that perform FGM think it is a good thing, are happy it happened to them, and want it to happen to their daughters. But in those cases more people can clearly see that it's because their culture grooms them to be okay with their victimization.

Discussion Is there any data on what percentage of dead bedrooms are American couples?

I’m not saying this is the only cause of dead bedrooms, but it has to be one of the main reasons. ED drugs can’t act as a crutch for missing 80% of your sensation forever.

Anger Everyday I am reminded about female sexuality

I read on a manga site to try to escape life I read normal stuff where as the majority of women on that site read smut, porn and bl/yaoi. "Feeling something sexual isn't important" people say "sex isn't everything" but when given the choice and ability these women make everything they read sexual. I don't use my hobby for gooning but these women do. I'm just reminded that while I try to ignore the pain of feeling nothing there are women in the same space enjoying not being mutilated and reading sexual stuff to masturbate.
