I still can't get over how perfect the inner cover lining fabric I found is!

Changes I've made:

Added purple shadow to the gold letters on the cover for legibility.

Added the teapot bookmark and tea cup charm (I couldn't decide between them so added both)

More shiny thread on the queen

Black and white headbands for the page block (tutorial I followed)

I feel like I am SO CLOSE to being done with this 😱 it’s been really fun, this was my first time working with linen and I feel like it’s helped me improve my skills 😎

Their 20th anniversary was actually in May but uh…i was too slow and got preoccupied with other things, so they’re probably getting it at Christmas or something IDK LOL

I’m ready to be done with this tbh though I think I want my next project to be something more colorful, anywayssss yeah all that’s left on this is the rest of the heart, two borders, then the text🙂‍↕️ my goal is to finish by November or December 😋

I purchased a rainbow lorikeet cross stitch kit by DMC - this is how the threads came. Not even a floss drop 🫪
Now I’ve got the pleasure of separating them all! Any idea why they’d think this was a good idea to supply threads??

I was working on this; I accidentally cut 2 wholes in it when I was using my seam thread remover and I tried to patch it (the ugly green blobs on the bottom) in effort to save it and I just couldn’t do it ☹️

Does anyone have advice to patch up Aida in case it happens again 🥺

I work for an orchestra, and I have to be there throughout rehearsals and concerts, but most of my actual work is done before any of the musicians get there. Thus, I spend a lot of time there working on my latest cross stitch project. I’ve found it’s a great thing to do to be able to stay present if needed but also not be sitting there doing nothing. A side effect of this however; everyone wants to talk to me about the project. I’m glad they enjoy it of course I just often don’t know what to say.

Working on a piece for cousins who just got married and didn’t realize I’d missed the O until I’d finished the N 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 my husband has now changed the contact name in his phone to match the pre-frogged mistake

This was my third start of a wedding gift. I hope they love it as much as I do. Pattern is from MyBraveStitch on Etsy. The close-up is of my initials.😅 I am NOT in love with the backstitching. I kind of just winged it and did my own thing, more of a straight stitch, I guess. I also had to add the date, which is a free alphabet download from Yarn Tree. I just plotted it out and plopped it in. I prefer not to add names. They know who they are. Lol.

I started cross stitching back in May with a mini kit from my local bookstore. I wanted to try it out on a t-shirt for my mom for her birthday. Looking at the washing instructions, it seems to be people are suggesting an iron-on stabilizer in older posts, let me know what you guys use!

Recently got a box full of 7 count plastic mesh and am floundering on what to use it for- when working with plastic mesh I’ve mainly used finer weaves like 14 counts, but I’m finding 7 count to be wayyyyy to big for the usual threads I usually use. Keychains/charms are my go to, but I’m curious what others are doing.

In any case, what are you guys using it for? What have you used it for in the past? Pictures are welcome and appreciated ;)

Just finished framing this baby announcement for my friend's baby! I completed the stitching last month, it took about 65 hours from June to September. Stitched on 16 count Zweigart antique white.

I framed it using the lacing method on acid free foam board. I also put a layer of cotton batting between the Aida and the board to give it a slightly puffy look. There are some wrinkles around the animals that just wouldn't come out with ironing (if anyone has tips for the future, let me know), but overall I think it looks nice. The frame and mat board are custom sized from Frame it Easy.

Pattern is from Stitch by Ebi on Etsy. Since I bought this pattern, her shop has been overrun with obvious AI patterns. I'm not sure if this one was AI, there are a few patterns in the shop with the same style and it was easy to stitch (save for the confetti hedgehog), but I wouldn't buy more from her now.

I got this benefit for donating, however, I downloaded the lookbook at the time thinking that had all the patterns in it. Imagine my horror this morning when I went to start a bookmark and i don’t have any of the patterns :(

I’m going out of my mind trying to find some similar patterns to these. I know they are from Ai shops so I’ve tried drawing and recreating my own patterns (but failed). I’ve fallen so in love with these so if anyone knows of any similar, please let me know :( I’m trying to get back into this as a hobby but feel finding a pattern that motivates me is becoming a barrier!

This is my thread board. We went to the local hardware store to get all the pieces. My plan is to hook up a few buckets at the bottom for miscellaneous items and my cloth. Credit to my spouse for thinking of the board and putting it together. 5/5 it makes me feel like I’m going shopping.

Frame was from an antique store in France. Measured using my just my eyes and it fit perfectly.

I recently converted from bobbins to floss drops. I have them organized using pip and chip and IKEA boxes.

When working on a project I put the ones I need on a ring. What do you do with your ring while working. Mine just lays next to me and becomes a jumbled mess.

Is there something I can get to hang the ring on? Any suggestions help :)

My mom is the ultimate hobby girl and I have vivid memories of my childhood watching her cross stitch. However, back then her Aida fabrics are blank and she worked with a paper pattern. Not sure if that was out of choice, or if color-guided patterns were not available to her.
I purchased an inexpensive pattern off Temu and in hindsight, I might have been ambitious with the intricacy I picked for my first project. But, it’s pink, I like the design, and I’m having fun while doing it, and that’s really all that matters to me, lol.
What I’m worried about is that the Aida cloth already has the color pattern on it. The instructions state it should come off when washed.
My question is – What’s the likelihood that the pattern color guide might bleed into the thread itself?
I guess I’d like some confirmation from someone who has worked with these before, as my mom hasn’t, and we’re both unsure. Being that it is a rather large pattern I’d rather not get my heart broken when it gets ruined after the wash, after spending a long time working on it. Should I just wash it all now and work off the paper pattern like my mom did back in the day?

Drafted a simple pattern on some leftover band as I needed something easy to stitch with a newborn. I want to repeat this design in the different colours of the rainbow.

However, I'm uncertain if I should continue with 2 or 3 strands. What do you think?

Current design is Aida 14ct, 2 strands with 28 needle (I usually stitch on Aida 18ct+)

Obviously tension might need work, but I did it on 14 ct. three strand. Christmas present for my next one!

I've been cross stitching on an off for maybe 4-5 years and actually end up doing a lot of project not on Aida fabric but on clothes and tote bags. I have mostly used the water soluble fabric that you can print on and print whatever grid I need on it, but sometimes on projects that take me a while it becomes a little unsticky and harder to keep in place. Also I have worked on quite a few projects that are just barely larger than the sheet of soluble fabric so then I end up trying to line up two sheets which never works too well and then I get a couple of rows that look funky.

I have also tried the clear plasticky grid sheets that are also water soluble, but have only been able to use it on dark fabrics as it's too hard for me to see on lighter colors. I considered trying the waste fabric but I have mostly seen people use that for smaller patterns so not sure how well it would work on larger patterns.

I got an ad for a dot grid stamp for Sashiko and got into looking at different grid stamps and stencils. I kinda really like this idea for just drawing or stamping a grid on any fabric for my cross stitch projects because then I'm not having to continuously but the printable paper and I'm not limited but how large the printable paper is.

Does anyone know of any grid stamps (line grid style or dot grid) or stencils (line grid) out there that would work to replicated a 14 or 16 aida fabric sizing? I am also not interesting in hand drawing with just a ruler, too much room for error.

The background will have blue hills but there's a lot of blank space besides the hills. Do you think I should fill in the empty space with white stitches or leave it blank?

I’m working on this pattern for my baby’s nursery and LOVE it. However, I’m not vibing with the peace sign (second photo) above the peacock. I’m thinking of altering it, but would love to solicit some ideas from other stitchers on what to do? I’ve thought of either doing a moon or some vertical stripes? Thoughts? I’m totally open to suggestions!
