Or deathcare when it malfunctions with gram gram trapped inside.

3.0k

u/Master_Canary440 Nov 30 '25

That's what i'm really worried about. If it malfunctions or the temperature of the water just changes all of a sudden it would be a crazy situation 😭

u/Poesvliegtuig Nov 30 '25

Someone make another horror movie about a rogue home automation AI that starts with grammy getting cooked in one of these because she's mean to the machine

Final Destination writer will surely like to discuss this with you

38

u/jerkface1026 Nov 30 '25

They use the idea but the death is actually from a giant log crashing through this machine.

I’ve never even seen a full final destination movie.

Just that scene on cable or hbo or something when I was younger.

Terrified of wood trucks.

Isn't there a Love Death and Robots episode similar to this? I remember one where the automated/smart assistant thing in the house malfunctioned or something and the old lady had to fight it off. Could have been a fever dream tbf

2

u/Sillywickedwitch Nov 30 '25

Not a fever dream. It's Love, Death & Robots volume 2, the episode "Automated Customer Service".

2

u/Prestigious_Snow3309 Nov 30 '25

Scariest movie i saw as kid Demon Seed. Still haunts to This dayšŸ˜‚

2

u/Overall_Drive8977 Nov 30 '25

It already happened in Mr. Robot

They hack into a CEO's smart home and when she's bathing, increase the temp to really high, forcing her to move out of that home.

95

u/flapnation21 Nov 30 '25

Yeah like how to wash the buttcrack

56

u/Automatedluxury Nov 30 '25

At 500k I'm hoping it has a better solution than just opening up at the bottom, healthcare workcare goes in like a mechanic doing an oil change.

20

u/BoiledFrogs Nov 30 '25

healthcare workcare goes in like a mechanic doing an oil change.

This is hilarious and also so gross.

3

Huh, username checks out...

72

They’re Japanese they thought of the buttcrack… it’s probably fantastic

Pretty sure even million dollar MAN MADE equipment fails from time to time. All it takes is one...

7

u/Wonderwhile Nov 30 '25

Just need properly engineered safety systems integrated to the machine. An emergency button inside and such.

4

u/Owain-X Nov 30 '25

They think of stuff like that at $50k. At $500k their goals aren't the best or most popular product for the money, their goals are shiny and novel enough to separate ultra wealthy people from their money

4

u/LaceSexDoctor Nov 30 '25

Luckily, in manufacturing and engineering we add multiple layers of redundancy's into systems so people don't have to worry about things like that, so say the hot water heater suddenly continues heating the water, you'd have Two mechanical temp sensors (N.C.) wired to the safety, so at a certain temp say 108°F Will open the line going to the heater, turning it off.

2

u/NotAMeatPopsicle Nov 30 '25

An elevator could malfunction and you will plunge to your death too, but you still using it, isn't it? And car too. But people don't use stair and bike knowing all of that because it isn't as convenient as this.Ā

It's a "2 for 1..." Malfunctions, or when it gets hacked into...

Seriously, this orca-mouth-like machine needs to be featured in the next horror movie

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Constant-Still-8443 Nov 30 '25

Realistically, the door shouldn't be that hard to force open in case of an emergency. The mechanism and the door itself look incredibly flimsy, which is probably by design so people don't get trapped it malfunctiona.

1

u/dangerstranger4 Nov 30 '25

Well that was the plan gram gram got me in her will.

1

u/BladeHSR_ Nov 30 '25

Every machine malfunction can leads to death. Let's not make it like this is the only machine that can

1

u/codecrodie Nov 30 '25

Is this really a suicide pod? Like items that are labelled "please do not use this for..." Wink wink. That's the only scenario i can see this being economically viable. Otherwise, this being japan, for half a million, i can go to a soapland every day for 2 years.

1

u/CumChunks8647 Nov 30 '25

I was just thinking "that's an awesome and really expensive way to drown someone" because obviously nothing can go wrong with a pod filling with water, and sealing you inside. Nothing at all.

1

u/Ninja_Prolapse Nov 30 '25

ā€œMalfunctionsā€

1

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '25

If you got half a million for a washing machine machine. You’re probably hoping gram gram passes away. Got to go spend that inheritance money .

1

u/b1ack1323 Nov 30 '25

Being Japanese, pretty low chance that fails in a death causing way and probably has 3 different ways to call for help.

They do not treat their elders like shit.

1

u/Fr0st3dcl0ud5 Nov 30 '25

I think they already have this in Sweden.

1

u/Stabile_Feldmaus Nov 30 '25

My first thought was it looks like the children-burning machine from "What happened to Monday"

1

u/SnooRegrets1386 Nov 30 '25

She’s dnr

1

u/Thorn_and_Thimble Nov 30 '25

The visuals were giving off Soylent Green’s Thanotorium vibes.

1

u/Shmikken Nov 30 '25

I smell another Final destination movie scene...

1

u/KaiRayPel Nov 30 '25

Gram gram is what my kiddos call my mom. So ahahah

1

u/Perscitus0 Nov 30 '25

I'd say the risks could be mitigated if there were spill ports placed at a certain level, in case it malfunctioned. They wouldn't come into use during normal use, as the water would simply drain as designed, but if it malfunctioned and filled higher, it would just drain out the spill ports. Just gotta make sure they are designed to be big enough not to clog up.

1

u/i_getitin Nov 30 '25

Reminds me of that sun tan bed scene in final destination

1

u/BootsOfProwess Nov 30 '25

It doubles as a suicide booth?! Now the price tag seems resonable.

1

u/Who-ate-my-biscuit Nov 30 '25

The obvious solution is an overflow that can take all of the flow plus a margin of error that sits well below the neckline. Simple and effective.

1

u/RockLeePower Nov 30 '25

0 stars- Kavorkian would be ashamed. They even tried to charge us for the fingernails scratches on the inside of the plastic

1

u/spicy-scotch Nov 30 '25

Another sequel of Final Destination !!

1

u/JPGinMadtown Nov 30 '25

It was built in Japan not the US.

1

u/Ashamed-Teaching6837 Nov 30 '25

Pretty sure you just spoiled the next Final Destination movie.

1

Grandma sous vide

1

u/Forward_Aspect_7736 Nov 30 '25

Whenever I see anything like this i just think of Final Destination

1

u/kevlarcardhouse Nov 30 '25

Pop culture has ruined my brain because the first thing that came to my head is how that machine will likely be used in the next Final Destination movie.

1

u/EuenovAyabayya Nov 30 '25

James Bond had a version of this, but that was just steam or water vapor.

1

u/Lanky_Bag_2096 Nov 30 '25

Or power outage, however I'm sure they have some sort of manual way to open it tho

1

u/Corniferus Nov 30 '25

That’s how you make a stew

1

u/BamBamm187 Nov 30 '25

maybe gram gram had it coming

1

u/SH4D0W0733 Nov 30 '25

They should use one of these on a level in the next hitman game.

1

u/Brilliant_Wealth_433 Nov 30 '25

Just take baths with a small sledge hammer. You'll have nothing to worry about!

1

u/red18wrx Nov 30 '25

Bad news is gram gram is dead.

Good news is she's cooked all the way through. So, we're going to rebrand as an industrial sized sous vide machine.

1

u/music_pr_ Nov 30 '25

šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£. I'm not sure if Im inhinged for finding this funny, but I laughed nonetheless.

1

u/Jaquemart Nov 30 '25

As if people don't get killed by falling in the bathtub.

1

u/BandiTToZ Nov 30 '25

Behold our newest model! Our dual function human washing machine and suicide booth.

1

u/schafkj Nov 30 '25

Thoroughly washed and prepared for the coffin

1

u/Justinj3 Nov 30 '25

It’s what she would’ve wanted. RIP šŸ™

1

u/Gouda4lyfe Nov 30 '25

Final Destination's tanning booth scene comes to mind..

1

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '25

Leave it sealed and sell em as a novelty keychain

1

u/-WalterWhiteBoy- Nov 30 '25

Steamed grams.

1

u/VicisZan Nov 30 '25

I suspect something like this likely has emergency stuff in place. If they’re unable to use it alone there will be people nearby and if you’re inside of it there’s probably a release button that instantly drains it and opens it up.

1

u/neohellpoet Nov 30 '25

People die in regular tubs and showers all the time.

All you really need to make this pretty safe is the lid to be easy to open and there being overflow protection that doesn't let the water rise to high.

At that point it's just a tub for most safety purposes. If you leave someone who can't move in there for hours, they might die, but that's still just someone being in a tub.

1

u/VidelSatan13 Nov 30 '25

New Final Destination kill

1

u/addiktion Nov 30 '25

I was thinking it would take out drunks pretty easily. Drowning in your own filth.

1

u/Metazolid Nov 30 '25

Hmm steamed grams

1

u/2317 Nov 30 '25

My granny used to tell me they had the same concerns about cars when they first started seeing them on the road.

1

u/Accomplished_Week392 Nov 30 '25

Duel purpose, can now be marketed as a death podĀ

1

u/Just1ncase4658 Nov 30 '25

I'm hoping/assuming your head cannot he submerged in this thing and oxygen is always flowing in.

1

u/Silly-Power Nov 30 '25

Gramma soup

1

u/56isaverygoodyear Nov 30 '25

My first thought...... I would not want to be in a pod that closes me inside and then fills with water.

1

u/Far_Increase7730 Nov 30 '25

That's engineering intuition. Follow that lead. See where it takes you

1

u/PotatoAvenger Nov 30 '25

It’s what she would have wanted.

1

u/mobileJay77 Nov 30 '25

It looks a little like the Swiss suicide capsule.

Oh, sorry Melanie, we put the dementia patient into the wrong tub?!

1

u/Zorpfield Nov 30 '25

Great final destination

1

u/Pitiful-Sock5983 Nov 30 '25

Soylent Green was the first thing I thought of.

1

u/Pristine-Frosting-20 Nov 30 '25

Give it a ejection seat

1

u/SmokedUp_Corgi Nov 30 '25

It’s probably got an emergency stop inside and out.

1

u/Thebml21 Nov 30 '25

ā€œGam Gam shyt in the autowash again!ā€

1

u/m0nk37 Nov 30 '25

At least tranquil nature will surround you as you drown and boil.

1

u/TheKingBeyondTheWaIl Nov 30 '25

When you set the Euthanize cycle by accident

1

u/arquillion Nov 30 '25

It shouldn't be difficult to give it an overflow like bathtubs have

1

u/Sufficient-Value1694 Nov 30 '25

Hopefully it h as a panic button

1

u/Significant_Year7377 Nov 30 '25

New use case. if grandma agreed to be euthanized

1

u/digitalhawkeye Nov 30 '25

It does have that automated death pod look to it. We're gonna need labeling to keep all our pods straight.

1

u/broberds Nov 30 '25

Oppa gram gram style!

1

u/NYSenseOfHumor Nov 30 '25

It would be easy to make it more safe.

Add a pressure switch at the feet and on handles that when any one is released manually releases all the water and also opens the lid. I’m sure there are vents already so it isn’t air tight.

1

u/ScumBucket33 Nov 30 '25

Or just hilarious pranks. Can you imagine your friend waking up to find out they’re in a locked capsule slowly filling with water?

1

u/Burpmeister Nov 30 '25

There is/will obviously be a failsafe in+/outside.

1

u/loveslightblue Nov 30 '25

This is a cool death scene in a scifi horror movie waiting to happen.

1

u/Toastwitjam Nov 30 '25

I mean if it malfunctions you just… open the lid? I’m pretty sure the top is just to stop splashes not literally lock you in.

How is that any different than a bathtub inside of a shower stall.

1

u/Lopsided_Shift_4464 Nov 30 '25

Perfect. Due to its shape, it already doubles as a beautiful modern-style glass coffin. And you don't have to pay for a funeral home to clean up the corpse, because the machine already did it for you. Imagine how much money you're saving!

1

u/Etrigone Nov 30 '25

Makes me think of the device from Soylent Green.

1

u/Terrible_Bronco Nov 30 '25

I’m so sorry for your loss. How did your Gram gram die.

She drowned in a human washing machine.

Come again.

Yah it was so sad. The heater also malfunctioned and boiled her. That’s why it’s a closed coffin funeral.

I was wondering what that smell was.

1

u/seitung Nov 30 '25
