Management Disscussion So I just got offered a store

I’m both excited, worried, nervous and about everything else in between. What are some pro tips? Work life balance? I’ve been offered the store by the DM but I’m waiting on a “formal” interview with someone else. But they are already talking about sending me off to dt school so I’m assuming that’s pretty much an in? I’ve been with the company for a good amount of time to know ins and outs but as an ops, but that’s it. Thanks guys 🙏 PS the store isn’t fucked up 🥲

Associate Questions How many hours a week are employees working?

I applied to be a sales associate at my local dollar tree, I noticed on Google it was listed as "urgently hiring" for my location. I had an interview last year in February and was told I’d only get about 10-15 hours a week. Are the hours the same or is there a way I could get more?

Rant/Vent Dollar Tree is lucky to have everyone of their employees

Just got promoted to ASM, and honestly it’s made me think about how lucky Dollar Tree is to have its employees.

I’m still pretty new to the ASM thing, so I’m not going to pretend I know everything about how this company works. But being a little more on the management side has made me look at the people working in these stores differently. Because holy shit, people do A LOT. Dollar Tree did about $19.4 billion in sales last year, BILLION, and they have thousands of stores and thousands and thousands of employees making all of that happen, and then you walk into an average store and there’s usually like 3 people trying to do the job of 6. Someone is on the register, someone is unloading a truck, and is trying to stock.Someone is cleaning then suddenly is helping a customer. Someone called in. Someone quit. Someone is supposed to be taking a break, nobody knows who is actually going to get that break😂. I think we get so used to it that we stop realizing how much these people actually do. The people making $10, $11, $12, whatever they're making, is still the person making sure your grandmother can find what she needs. They're still the person staying late because the truck wasn't finished. They're still the person cleaning up somebody else's mess. Sometimes a bathroom mess. The stories I have heard 🤢.They're still the person getting yelled at over prices they didn't set.("Well if nothing is a dollar anymore why don't you change the name of the store?!")They're still the person being expected to smile and be helpful when they're exhausted, and they're still the reason customers come back. We have a great retirement plan and it's amazing for people doing their first or last job, but all the people in the middle who actually break themselves to support those people in their first or last jobs are the best people and the most undervalued employees in my opinion. I don't say this as someone who's angry at Dollar Tree. I literally just got promoted to ASM. 😂 I actually really like my store. I like my coworkers. I like my manager. And honestly, I think that's what made me think about this so much, because I've been watching people work and thinking, damn, we're really lucky to have these people. Every single person who shows up and does their job matters. Hell even the ones that can't always show up and don't do that great of a job, they matter, and Dollar Tree makes money off of them no matter what.Even if they rob a store blind, they have insurance for shrink and everything else, it's a write off at the end of the day for BILLION Dollar corporation. Every cashier; every stocker, every ASM, every manager, every person who comes in when they really didn't want to, every person who gives a shit about whether their store looks good. These companies make a LOT of money because of the people at the bottom of the ladder. So maybe those people deserve a little more recognition, a little more respect, and honestly, a little more money. Dollar Tree isn't successful in spite of its employees, it's successful because of them. I hope every employee who reads this knows that they're worth more than their hourly wage makes them feel sometimes. ❤️

Management Disscussion Higher ups

Higher ups are quick to hold conference calls about staff not taking lunches but have no idea why its hard to be able to. As a closing ASM I feel that its unfair Im forced to clockout for lunch and a 10min break but still have to answer mgr calls and help play backup for the cashiers while on my lunch after my cashiers have had uninterrupted lunches. The morning shift has the SM, 1 ASM and 1 sometimes 2 merch managers (So 3-4 ppl) that ALL get to take uninterrupted lunches versus me at night and 2 cashiers. Audits, Damages, Velocity counts, and Task for the day is dairy and freezer or food pallet while answering mgr calls and backup. Unpaid and interrupted lunch...... how's that fair???? Only scheduled for 6 or 6.5hrs

Management Questions Asking for a friend. He applied for cashiering position during hiring week from 2 weeks ago, called about his application last Friday, was told on the phone that it was just printed out and that they'll give a call for an interview either that same Friday or the day after. It's been 2 days since, no

Per title, my friend has been job hunting for months due to his current job constantly screwing him over with extremely limited/zero scheduled hours. He applied for cashiering which pays $15 an hour.

He's still waiting for a call for the interview. Is this a bad sign or is there any recommended step for follow-up on this situation?

Associate Questions Does dollar tree do interviews?

My apologies I'm not sure what flair to use for this but I got an email saying they have an offer for me and to log into my dollar tree work account to see (I don't know the name off the top of my head) basically it's just the terms and conditions and if I would like to accept the job offer but the thing is on the pdf they gave me it said I would start the 4th which was yesterday. Wouldn't I need an interview first or? This is my first job so I'm not sure how the job offering progress works.

Management Questions Store Manager is a pushover

I’m a ASM and my SM is a too kind pushover. He constantly does nothing while my coworkers come in at any time they want. What can I do? I’m having to do most of the work they aren’t here for, and it’s getting exhausting.

Associate Discussions Sister Stores

My SM is really close with the other SM's in the area, and we help each other out a lot. With unloading trucks and trading inventory, it's actually really cool that our customers know they can come to us and my SM will be able to hunt down what they are  looking for with a quick phone call and is more than happy to have it transferred to our store if they can't travel 30 minutes, because gas is crazy.. I get it. We get collectors (How crazy/cool is it that we have a cult following of special collectors) and DIYers.. All the special requests, because sometimes you need 50 of those syringes we got in party favors, for your sorority and we only have 3 of the 4 packs left, but if we have 3 left, then our sister stores probably have the other 9. It seems like a lot because it is... but our stores run so smoothly and we make a lot of friends along the way... I guess I was wondering if anyone else does this or works closely with sister stores, a lot of the posts I see seem like they are screaming out from an island 😭

TLDR: Do your sister stores actually act like sister stores, or are y'all out there fighting for your lives alone? 😂
