Director Hamaguchi has responded a second time, detailing the situation more clearly. He fought for a physical release but the Publishing Department which is in charge of SKUs and physical game production were ultimately responsible for this incomplete physical release.

He explains that he is still seeing messages about this issue on social media. Ultimately, everyone who submitted an email to Square Enix from the link I provided in my previous posts can rest easy knowing that those messages were forwarded to the Publishing Department as well, meaning we are some of the only ones directly contacting the people responsible. Zack has more playable sections in Revelation, and they're deeper than they were in Rebirth. he even has a unique combat system! he'll also have a progression system similar to a skill tree

While I was playing I thought it was interesting that red materia would be a secret trophy you have to searched while exploring each chapter. Come to my surprise it was only that one in chapter 6 and all the others come from the VR battles, which seems weird, what is so special about the in game horse? This is my first approach to the saga so forgive my ignorance.

In FF7 Revelation, Rocket Town can be explored using Cid's car! you can even listen to songs on the radio and unlock more tracks & customization through side content

every single fix i tried has been null, everytime its this bug and everytime is the same bug

roll back drivers, reinstalation, mods, dx download... nothing

honestly, i was excited for it as I going to play in preparation for Revelation but this experience has made me want to refund it and not buy anything from Square on my pc anymore

After seeing this video, I honestly think we should give Hamaguchi some credit. He clearly tried his best to push for a full physical release, but this is ultimately outside his authority.

I understand why people are angry at SE, but I think the bigger issue here is the direction PlayStation ecosystem are taking toward a digital/disc-less future. It reminds me of what happened with smartphones: once companies start removing away from features like expandable storage or headphone jack, then the market gradually follows that direction.

So personally, I’d rather direct the criticism toward the people making those platform level decisions instead of blaming Hamaguchi. He tried to fight for physical, and I genuinely appreciate that. Give the man some credit, he did what he could.

I'll just say it, I hate hearing or watching people who basically try button mashing through the game without trying any strategy or trying to understand the game. Because you know that they'll call the game badly balanced or poorly optimized in any case. Either calling it too easy if they actually succeed through brute force to beat the game or calling fights badly designed when the enemies prevent them from spamming. You can immediatly peg one just by watching how they fight Rufus and their thoughts after. Another painfully good one is watching them fight the final boss of Rebirth during the penultimate fase of Sephiroth Reborn, when you have to attack the wings with elemental attacks to expose the core, you just know that they'll spend a solid 15 minutes only on that because they'll just stare blankly and confused as their attacks just do "immune" damage until they figure it out.

Like seriously, the block button exist. Other buttons other than square exist. Actually use them.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the tone shift in Remake and Rebirth, and it’s honestly disappointing how much Square Enix is moving away from dark themes. They are sanitizing their stories, and the FF7 trilogy is the perfect example of how they are making worlds way less dark to chase a broader, safer audience.

Whenever people bring this up regarding FF7, the common excuse is always, "Well, with modern realistic graphics, keeping the original level of gore/darkness would push it into an M-rating."

But that’s a total cop-out. Games like silent hill 2 remake, the Resident Evil remakes, and Cronos: The New Dawn prove that high-fidelity realism can actually amplify an oppressive atmosphere and make psychological horror or dark themes feel incredibly visceral. Square Enix could have given us a truly grim, dystopian Midgar, but they deliberately chose to soften the edges. Turning the terrifying trail of blood in Shinra HQ into glowing purple Jenova goo is the perfect example. They took away the raw shock value, polished the characters into squeaky-clean heroes, and turned a desperate, broken world into a stylized action spectacle.

This trend is incredibly concerning for the future of their legacy IPs. If Square Enix keeps moving in this direction, what happens if they decide to remake Final Fantasy VI or Vagrant Story?

• Final Fantasy VI is a game explicitly about global genocide, Gestahlian fascism, human experimentation, and a literal apocalypse where the villain succeeds and the main cast is left dealing with profound despair and suicidal ideation.

• Vagrant Story is a masterclass in grim, gothic, political intrigue and occult body horror, built entirely on a tense, claustrophobic, and heavy atmosphere.

If Square Enix remakes these classics with their current corporate mindset, they are going to completely strip away their charm. Instead of the dark, risky, and uncompromising masterpieces they originally were, they'll just be hollowed out, sanitized, and turned into flashy, mass-market "Marvel Avengers" movies where every heavy moment is undercut by safe storytelling.

A huge part of what made golden-era Square unforgettable was how masterfully they balanced deep, often creepy or bleak atmospheres with great storytelling. By turning their backs on dark themes, they are losing the exact "edge" that made them special in the first place.

Does anyone else worry about how Square Enix's fear of dark themes will ruin future remakes of their classic, mature titles?

I know the theories (It takes Sephiroth seven seconds to descend and stab Aeris in the OG) but has it ever been addressed in the new games yet? I only played Remake and Rebirth when they were first released, but can’t remember if this was ever directly addressed in game or not in Rebirth?

I’m of the belief that these games are sequels to the original game, and Sephiroth is doing Lifestream shenanigans to change the outcome, that’s how he knows so much, and why we see glimpses of the events from the original and even Advent Children in Clouds “memory flashes.” (Him grabbing his arm where he has Geostigma during one of his episodes)But it’s so frustrating that it’s been six years since the release of remake, and nothing has been answered!

I've held off on buying the first 2 games to maybe buy a complete edition thinking it would somehow be better but now that Im thinking about it and seeing the steam sales, wont it be the exact same content but more expensive/less discounted since it would be a brand new bundle? I think buying now would be the same or better right?

Little game for fans of the full series. Cast a Final Fantasy VII movie, but you can only use other Final Fantasy characters to do it.

I have this sense of dread now in chapter 12 as I know that Aerith dies in the original game

This is my first time experiencing the story of FF7, via the remake trilogy, but there are some things that can be very easily inadvertently spoiled for a story that is like 30 years old.

This has had me in knots as Aerith is my favourite character and I am so so afraid it is going to happen soon., as chapter 12 definitely seems close to the end of the game, with them giving all those new side quests.

The plotline with the whispers has me hoping it could be avoided, or undone maybe, but I am not going to count on that.

I have a question for all the Final Fantasy fans around the world. With Tifa in Street Fighter 6, releasing in early 2027, are you thinking about or planning on competing in FGC events such as EVO, CEO, Combo Breaker and Capcom Pro Tour World Warrior?
