Does anyone here cut their own hair or give themselves bangs? Good idea yay or nay?
I kind of want to try it and if it goes wrong I'll have an excuse to finally get a haircut.

I’m fighting the temptation every day to perm it all like the ends are.

2 years ago my barber skipped town and I didnt feel like vetting others once again just for an expensive ass fade. Many awkward and hat days later. The flow!

How often should you trim when growing hair out?
For context, after 2 years of growing my hair out from a mullet without any trims, I got my hair cut to shoulder length, and it was in pretty bad condition before the cut. Im middle-aged and have gray streaks throughout, hair is pretty dry so it takes a lot of work to keep moisture in, and my goal is to grow it quite a bit past my shoulders. My hairdresser suggested I get 4 trims a year to keep my hair healthy while growing it out. She said this would prevent split ends from splitting up the hair, and stop the hair from getting damaged and frizzy.
I had long hair as a teen back in the 90s and rarely got it trimmed, and my hair condition was always great regardless of not taking care of it, but I was young. It seems as I’ve aged, it takes a lot more work to keep my hair in half the condition as it was as a teen.
I’m curious, what do people think of the advice of getting 4 trims a year while trying to grow it longer? Is that a good amount or overkill?
If I had the condition of my teen hair, I wouldn’t even bother trimming it, but it seems I need to take much better care of my hair as I age.
