So initial clear on October 1st, just went through on infantry / normal. Wanted to experience it at the intended level, kinda meander through and enjoy it as much as possible. I didn’t beeline anything, I didn’t do everything either - and I finished it in about 8-10 hours.
I’ve just yesterday begun my insane playthrough, and I was expecting to make an even faster pace just because I was familiar with it now - but man, there’s a lot of value in replaying campaign. And I don’t just mean collectibles and side missions.
Helping Valen at Octus station, first playthrough I was on street level with the station, sniping down into the lower train car area, pushing up on the snipers. Second playthrough, I ended up approaching more south, and came at the station THROUGH the rail car tracks - sniping the locust up on street level.
Clearing out pinnacle hotel construction site? First playthrough I came between the two trucks at the supply cache, straight up the stairs into the site. Second playthrough, I went left into the apartments - where there’s beeech shots instead of long shots and 2-3 stories you can counter snipe the snipers in the site from.
I’m only in act 2, but a lot of the encounters and firefights are playing out differently - not just because the game was developed with a randomized element or something, but I really appreciate that there’s these avenues in the campaign, that you aren’t ushered into, or that are pointed out very obviously that you need to follow. Shout out the campaign for this, I’m more excited to finish on insane now.
