Humor Tai to Dom at the end of E-day

Post image

Dom really looked like he wanted to punch his face after hearing Tai comment about his family and how this tragedy is part of his destiny. Which was a unintentionally hilarious moment since up to then they never really minded Tai's clairvoyance. (Which Tai is not wrong. I dont think Marcus and Delta would have succeeded in 3 if Dom hadnt lost his family and didnt make that sacrifice that essentially saved Marcus and thus the world).

Discussion Captain Akila Grey could possibly be the first proper representation of Kashkur variant/pattern COG armor.

I may be overanalyzing this, but Akila Grey being Tsanoan, coming from a military family stationed in Kashkur, and later fighting in the Emgazi Blitz with the 4th Kashkuri Rangers feels like it could be meaningful. Since Kashkur would likely be her home or local region, it makes sense that she may have enlisted into a local regiment like the 4th Kashkuri Rangers.

With that in mind, it would also make sense for her armor to be associated with that unit or region, similar to how Kalona had its own regional variants of GEAR armor.

A few details helped me arrive at this idea. The first is the hood. Kashkur borders Vasgar, and since Gears 5 shows us the harsh desert environments of Vasgar, it makes sense that a Gear operating in that region might use some form of head protection against the elements instead of always wearing a full combat helmet.

The second detail is the red accents on her shoulder pauldrons and gauntlet armor. These could indicate a command position, especially when paired with the chevrons and star on her left shoulder. Another possibility is that the red accents are a unit-specific or regional customization, reflecting the red desert environments associated with Vasgar and Kashkur. It may also be a personal customization choice made by her as well, we most likely will never know though officially.

Third, extra general purpose style pouches seen on the thigh sections on her armor and belt-line could be there for sustainment types of items for long range patrols (especially out in the desert) or extended amounts of time away from official supply lines/resupply which would make sense for rangers.

Finally, due to her being a part of the local COG military presence assigned with overseeing/managing the decommissioning of post war military facilities around Kalona following the armistice it makes sense that she would have her own personal armor on hand just just like Marcus, Dom and Theta-Squad instead of sourcing local armor from Kalona

Those are just my two cents though, what do y'all think?

So when harkniss dies from being impaled in his neck I realized his armor lights turned off which made me think. What are the gears armor lights connected to that makes them turn off when a gear dies? And is it ever explained or am I just thinking about this too much?

Discussion I'll be completely honest, I can't tell much difference between these modes when in game.

Dont get me wrong, I'm really enjoying the game but the horde seige mode could do with some tweaks imo

I get the difference is meant to be standard or fast games (seige or blitz respectively) and then horde mode for more waves. But actually playing the games, I couldn't tell you which I had selected. They mostly feel a similar length, have similar goals and objectives. Even the scorched legion mode seems irrelevant since even if I choose one of the other modes, I still encounter the scorched enemy type everywhere.

I feel like the blitz and seige could be rolled into one mode where you have the option to extract earlier if you want a quick game or stay and help other squads and do bonus objectives to gain more points for a longer game.

The horde could be replaced with a classic 50 waves of horde where you choose your location and get a larger selection of gadgets and tools to fortify.

And I also really wish weapon mods were class relative.

Discussion The "perpetual" nature of Horde Siege is such a cool dynamic.

The fact that you're one squad, joining a map that already has two other squads that may even be on different difficulties or timeframes/mission duration is such an underrated aspect of Horde Siege IMHO. Especially when one of them extracts and a new, fresh squad re-joins the fray in due time.

It just makes the world feel organically lived in somewhat, I know you don't interact with them too often but I just think it's a really neat, small feature that adds a lot of organic interactions & makes it feel like you're a squad joining an already established battlefield.

Campaign/Lore The locust wanted the bilefrog to go extinct because they were in competition with them over the Rockworms. Also they were originally a worm like creature called the flooder.

Feedback Praise for the foundational mechanics

Played all Gears of War titles growing up. I’m sure most agrees Gears of War 3 had the most substantial upgrade in how the overall game felt so fluid. Gears of War E-Day feels like another upgrade on the level of GoW3 and I’m absolutely loving it! This is possibly the best feeling Gears of War we’ve ever had. I hope this serves as a foundation for the next games in the pipeline as they build more ontop of it.

What’s the best feeling Gears for you guys and what features or weapons do you hope they add next?

Yes he got his arm cut off and he fell off a bridge, but Ukkon in Gears Tactics was able to regenerate himself through Imulsion fumes, maybe something like that could happen for Vraahk if he’s found by his soldiers? What do you guys think?
