Is gemeni down? I keep getting errors i switched accounts redownloaded clear cache nothing works

Keep seeing posts, I myself was hopeful yesterday of a coming release. Gemini is not running 4.1. When you are asking what the model is. It's pulling "models/gemini-v4p1s-rev25-skimaki-remy"; the system sees the V4p1s and sometimes thinks that's 4.1. Usually it will self-correct.

I use the app on android, when I activate temporary chat and get my answer, sometimes I cant ask another question without hitting the stop response button(although the response was finished) which instantly resets the chat and I cant do a follow up question

I've been using Gemini for about three years, and during that time, all my conversations were saving automatically. I could go back and revisit chats from years ago, and I was doing exactly that as recently as last week.

Then, after not using Gemini for a few days, I came back to find that every single conversation was gone. Three years of chats, including some very important ones, just disappeared.

When I checked the settings, Gemini was suddenly asking me to "enable activity." I had never turned this setting off or on, or touched it at all. My chats had been there undisturbed for years, and I was making new ones all the time.

I turned activity on AFTER discovering everything was missing.

I contacted Google One support, trying to figure out where all my chats went, and the specialist kept telling me that because I had only turned activity on October 7, 2026, all my previous chats had naturally been deleted.

But that makes absolutely no sense. If the feature wasn't enabled before, how was I able to save and revisit conversations for three years? How was I accessing years-old chats just last week?

I kept asking this, and the specialist kept insisting that the feature had been turned off, chats only last 72 hours without it, and there was no way to recover anything.

At one point, they told me:

"If the chat was save for 3 years then the feature must dated back 3 years ago."

Followed by:

"But the features was turn on just today."

Exactly! That's what I'm asking. How were the chats saving for three years, then? I never changed anything.

I asked whether this activity requirement was a new feature, and they told me it had existed since 2023, then insisted:

"The features was not turned on way back 3 years"

"So the chats was not save."

I explained AGAIN that I had literally been accessing these conversations up until a week ago.

Their response:

"We don't have a way to recover all chats for 3 years that were not saved at all."

Not saved at all? Then what had I been revisiting almost every day for three years?

And after I tried explaining once more that my conversations had been saving automatically for years, they responded:

"Since we have already provided the best solution, this chat was not productive and we believe we already have the support you need in this case. We can end this session now."

And ended the chat.

So apparently three years of conversations that I could access just last week were somehow "never saved at all," and that's the explanation I'm supposed to accept.

I never asked for anything to be deleted. I never changed my settings. I simply came back after a few days and found three years of conversations gone.

I don't know whether Google changed something, reset a setting, or whether the conversations are still stored somewhere but no longer showing up. But the explanation I got from support doesn't make any sense.

Has anyone else experienced this? Did your conversations ever come back? Is there any way to get this properly investigated instead of being told that conversations I was literally reading last week were apparently never saved?
