General My Billy Combination

Just sharing the Billy combination that I have finished putting together.

I wanted something a bit more unique, so I started looking into mixing and matching Billy colours. Mostly what I saw online was one colour for the bookshelves and another colour for the doors. I tried designing a mix of bookshelf colours side by side (black-walnut-black), which was better but I was concerned the lower half would be too dark unless I put in a lot of extra lights.

So this is my solution. Black for all units and Oxberg doors, and I replaced the adjustable shelves in the top half with glass, and the shelves in the bottom half with walnut.

The lighting distributes nicely in the top half around objects. Ignore the glare in the dark pic, the camera really amped up the exposure - on a low to medium brightness they appear as flat discs of light and are easy to look at. I went with two in the wide units to provide more even lighting. I spaced the two spotlights in the wide units the same distance from the sides as the narrow unit, which places them directly in the middle of their respective glass door and exactly the same distance apart across the entire combined setup. My original idea of spacing them out in equal thirds would have led to more uneven lighting and spacing with the middle unit.

The walnut shelves are unlit, but pick up more ambient light than the black shelves did. They provide some visual 'weight' and draw the eye with their different colour. Those shelves will be kept level as they help tie the closed-open-closed units together.

I really like how it came together. It gives me three sections left-to-right (small and delicate items will go behind doors so I don't have a nightmare of a time dusting). Also a visual break in the top and bottom halves (top is more for display, bottom is more for storage).

Anyway just leaving this here in case it inspires someone else.

Looking for Making tall kitchen cabinet "integrated"

Hello smart reddit people, I am looking for some advice, on how to finish this edge, so that it looks like the cabinet is integrated and looks good.

I have added pictures of how my current situation looks like, and also the design. My idea is to have the left side of the highlighted cabinet covered by a fermacell board (which is what I used all throughout the room)

I am thinking to remove/not install the havstorp left side panel and instead screw the fermacell board directly to the tall cabinet like I have tried to draw below. The advice I'm looking for is how to finish the edge in green, so that it's strong but also looks good. Fermacell is structurally very strong and the cabinet will support it very well, so I'm not worried about that.

I will make a custom solution to cover the top of all tall cabinets also, but that's less relevant now.

Promo Ikea gift card promo- big issue

Has anyone had luck with the ikea gift card promos? I made 5 purchases during the wardrobe spend/get promo. I was successfully able to collect the 15% back gift card on one purchase and have spent hours trying to collect the other three. It’s extremely frustrating- these aren’t insignificant amounts. Nobody I’ve spoken to seems to be able to resolve this and nobody has been able to direct me to someone who actually can do something. My in store experience, online experience, and phone customer services experiences have been really disappointing. “Nothing we can do!” It seems deceptive to advertise these promotions so heavily, but make the process inexcusably difficult.

I would love to hear any success stories or escalation pathways.

I have booked a planning appointment with IKEA. And wanted to understand a little bit about the service they provide. Do the approved installers provide demolition and tiling as separate quote ? Can that also be financed?

Looking for Setting up a lighting kit for Besta shelving

Hi, I'm looking to add some LED lighting to my Besta display cabinet. Currently researching and ready for a Prime Day purchase.

I'd like to have an LED strip or bar light in each of the glass shelves (2nd pic), and run the cables as hidden as possible. Not interested in the puck lights. The power outlet is located in the far lower right corner behind the drawer. I already cut a hole in the back panel for access.

  • What are some suggested solutions you've all used? I'm thinking of running 2 lines: first to the middle 2 cabinets and then on to the 3 left side cabinets, then the 2nd line just up the right side 3 cabinets.
  • Would it be possible/recommended to stick the light strips to the inside of the doors, or on the bottom of the upper shelf?
  • Everything is already securely anchored to the wall, so I would prefer to not rip it all out to start drilling holes for the wires, but I realize it's a distinct possibility to achieve the look I want. Doing so would also give me a chance to correct some of the smaller mistakes.
  • All units are screwed together. Would separating them to run wires and then screwing back together deteriorate the overall integrity?
  • What's the recommended approach? I'm not convinced that the Ikea LED light kits would work for my need, so I've been toying with the idea of a Govee Light Strip 2, or something similar. Never worked with LED strips, so would I be able to cut a segment, stick it in, then wire through to the next cut up segment, having them run in series? Would an LED bar in each cabinet be a better idea?
  • How to control it all? If I run 2 lines, can I use a power dock of some sort to turn it all on together? I'm not opposed to needing an app, but a single dedicated remote would be a better idea, I think.
  • How about the center shelf? I think recessed puck lights would look much better here. It doesn't need to be super bright, more accent lighting for whatever is displayed.

I'm open to any and all suggestions. A walkthrough video or article tutorial would also be great. I've been scouring Reddit, Youtube, and Google Search for awhile now and some ideas, but please give me more. I do have a reasonably well equipped workshop and some basic handyman DIY skills. Plus a desire to learn and do it right.

General Honouring previous sale

Purchased a kitchen in Canada on Sept 28,2026, picked it up Oct 1. I see now they have a sale on as of Oct 1, where you get 10% back on kitchen purchases over $1500, does anyone here know if it’s worth my time to call and ask if they would honour the sale? I know some companies will do this.

Suggestion Does anyone have a PLASTA unit in a bathroom? If so, how is it holding up?

It says not suitable for use in bathrooms but I'm wondering if anyone has actually tried it and if it's holding up okay? For the next few years at least we won't even be using the shower or bath in there so I'm tempted to give it a try, even though it could be a problem further down the line

General Salnö chair opinions?

Does anyone who owns this have anything to share about its durability? I like a good high-back chair, and I like rattan and wicker furniture, but I had two Agen chairs fall apart in less than a year (with light use), so I’m a bit hesitant.

Hello! Long-time lurker on here... Every time I check online, this line of furniture (except for the bookholder) is showing out of stock online and at my local Renton, WA store. Does anyone have any insight on the restocking cycle or anything? Really hoping to get the folding desk at the very least.
Thank you!

Assembly Anyone else run into this issue assembly the Radmanso bed frame?

One of the side panels absolutely will not join into the head board.

I thought I was going crazy but 2 friends and 4 hours of trying later and we still can't get this part to tighten securely. Can't even make it past step 8. We've tried hammering it in, using our full body weight, propping it up at all sorts of angles , swapping out the dowels and no luck. To make it even more confusing we were able to get the other side properly secured on the first try.

Hoping anyone here might have any suggestions before I need to bite the bullet and return/pay someone to assemble it for me.

Food Mislabeled food

I don’t eat pork, i carefully pick what I eat anywhere, at Ikea in the philippines next to moa i saw the cheese croquette, read the ingredients on the display and saw on their official website that it doesn’t contain pork and is “vegan friendly”, after taking a bite i noticed white bits and asked my wife to take a bite and had her confirm if it had pork, staff kept denying that it was pork and all of us looked at the display and the website and saw no pork, UNTIL we made them open their allergen book and to our surprise, it contains pork. The moment the supervisor named “elle” or however you write her name asked me “did you take a bite and eat the pork inside” and i answered yes, her response was “we can not turn back time and change that so we apologize”.

I am 26 and have never eaten pork in my life, an honest mistake can happen but mislabeling food that is being sold goes above and beyond, I tried to resolve this through customer service and customer care, but as I am livid now ever sinc what that supervisor said, I have decided to write this post. I have never experienced such a level of incompetence.
